A paralegal, recently laid off, wanted to get back at the “establishment” that he felt was to blame for his lost job. So when he craved an expensive new tie, he went out and stole one.
The story, relayed by psychiatrist Timothy Fong at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute and Hospital, is an example of the rash behaviors exhibited by more Americans as a recession undermines a lifestyle built on spending.
In the coming months, mental health experts expect a rise in theft, depression, drug use, anxiety and even violence as consumers confront a harsh new reality and must live within diminished means.

“People start seeing their economic situation change, and it stimulates a sort of survival panic,” said Gaetano Vaccaro, deputy clinical director of Moonview Sanctuary, which treats patients for emotional and behavioral disorders.
“When we are in a survival panic, we are prone to really extreme behaviors.”
The U.S. recession that took hold in December last year has threatened personal finances in many ways as home prices fall, investments sour, retirement funds shrink, access to credit diminishes and jobs evaporate.

Acting naturally would include survival behavior. When our welfare is at stake and little means to overcome oppressive behaviour from power groups readily available, people will exhibit “extreme behaviour” in massive numbers.

I work in the telecommunication industry two years ago i got an ID from the federal that states that i am a very critical resource and any time a disaster or unrest etc happens i am to be escorted with armed security if necessary LOL to my place of work. We have UNLIMITED resources allocated to keep the phone systems up and working for the federal/state ONLY if our group needs say a helicopter from the federal side of the house we get them security we get them.
So if you are smart i would do this below because i have seen broad range of what if scenario plans and civilians are not counted in the equations period.
You have about 6 to 9 months months before @##@# hits the fan
1:Food basic flour beans rice Bulk buys 25 to 50 pounds per family group do a rotation eating schedule
2:Vitamins 2 cents per package bulk prevents scurvy etc
3:Seeds non hybrid for your area and along with this i would get canning supplies any time you a good deal on any thing edible use the pressure cooker or water bath system to keep it for up to a year.
4: Good durable heavy duty clothing Wool , canvas
5:Good camping gear Ground roll , sleeping bag , tent , dual fuel lantern , water purifier etc
6:Weapons long range bolt action 30-06 500 hundred round minimum medium range 12 gauge pump shotgun Slugs 1 case and #2 bird shot 4 cases , short range Handguns wheel 38 or 357 1000 rounds . Hand weapons Gurkha , hunting knife , hatchet , possible bag fire starting etc adult fighting Kit weighs in about 35 pounds. Reloading supplies are very tight so it might be to late to go that route but cabala is still selling equipment but it will back ordered LOL
If your in a state with very restrictive gun laws on modern weapons black powder weapons are a good bet 50 caliber can knockdown a buffalo from 100 yards so any one hit with this weapon is not going to get up another is get a black powder .44 cal handgun with two spare cylinder’s pre-loaded for fast change out these hand guns are very accurate out to 30 yards. 8 pounds each of RS/PS black powder along with 200 round / mini balls made along with the formed dies and lead bars for reloading you will need caps 10 boxes
7:A good medical kit use the army guide lines for drugs etc and we use the combat one splints along with the surgical kit most injuries are going to be knife or blunt trauma wounds stitches and splints system
8:In your house store clean drinking water in an approved plastic human water barrel(s) in a closet etc if you loose power you will loose water pressure. 1 gallon per day per person is needed to keep you healthy we use rain water with a filter system that can be cleaned with bleach when necessary if/when the city water system fails.
9: Get some training medical at a community college and for weapons training NRA or hunting clubs.
I have traveled the globe and most of the stuff on the news is crap it is much more dire than what is being reported.
