I know. This sounds like a plot of a 1950’s scifi movie. But it is real. From my view, our localized corner of the solar system is now different than it used to be and changes in the magnetic interactions are evident everywhere. First we have the interplanetary magnetic field that took an abrupt dive in October 2005 and has not recovered since and remains at very low level:

Then we have the recent discovery that the ionosphere has dropped in altitude to unexpected and unexplained low levels.
We have a solar cycle 24 (driven by the solar magnetic dynamo) which can’t seem to get out of the starting gate, being a year late with forecasts for activity from it being revised again and again.
And finally we have this, this discovery that Earth’s magnetic field can be ripped open and our atmosphere laid bare to the solar wind, much like Mars.
Magnetism is underrated in the grand scheme of things, in my opinion. We’d do well to pay more attention to magnetic trends in our corner of the universe and what effects it has on Earthly climate. – Anthony

Dec. 16, 2008: NASA’s five THEMIS spacecraft have discovered a breach in Earth’s magnetic field ten times larger than anything previously thought to exist. Solar wind can flow in through the opening to “load up” the magnetosphere for powerful geomagnetic storms. But the breach itself is not the biggest surprise. Researchers are even more amazed at the strange and unexpected way it forms, overturning long-held ideas of space physics.
“At first I didn’t believe it,” says THEMIS project scientist David Sibeck of the Goddard Space Flight Center. “This finding fundamentally alters our understanding of the solar wind-magnetosphere interaction.”
The magnetosphere is a bubble of magnetism that surrounds Earth and protects us from solar wind. Exploring the bubble is a key goal of the THEMIS mission, launched in February 2007. The big discovery came on June 3, 2007, when the five probes serendipitously flew through the breach just as it was opening. Onboard sensors recorded a torrent of solar wind particles streaming into the magnetosphere, signaling an event of unexpected size and importance.

“The opening was huge—four times wider than Earth itself,” says Wenhui Li, a space physicist at the University of New Hampshire who has been analyzing the data. Li’s colleague Jimmy Raeder, also of New Hampshire, says “1027 particles per second were flowing into the magnetosphere—that’s a 1 followed by 27 zeros. This kind of influx is an order of magnitude greater than what we thought was possible.”
The event began with little warning when a gentle gust of solar wind delivered a bundle of magnetic fields from the Sun to Earth. Like an octopus wrapping its tentacles around a big clam, solar magnetic fields draped themselves around the magnetosphere and cracked it open. The cracking was accomplished by means of a process called “magnetic reconnection.” High above Earth’s poles, solar and terrestrial magnetic fields linked up (reconnected) to form conduits for solar wind. Conduits over the Arctic and Antarctic quickly expanded; within minutes they overlapped over Earth’s equator to create the biggest magnetic breach ever recorded by Earth-orbiting spacecraft.

The size of the breach took researchers by surprise. “We’ve seen things like this before,” says Raeder, “but never on such a large scale. The entire day-side of the magnetosphere was open to the solar wind.”
The circumstances were even more surprising. Space physicists have long believed that holes in Earth’s magnetosphere open only in response to solar magnetic fields that point south. The great breach of June 2007, however, opened in response to a solar magnetic field that pointed north.
“To the lay person, this may sound like a quibble, but to a space physicist, it is almost seismic,” says Sibeck. “When I tell my colleagues, most react with skepticism, as if I’m trying to convince them that the sun rises in the west.”

Here is why they can’t believe their ears: The solar wind presses against Earth’s magnetosphere almost directly above the equator where our planet’s magnetic field points north. Suppose a bundle of solar magnetism comes along, and it points north, too. The two fields should reinforce one another, strengthening Earth’s magnetic defenses and slamming the door shut on the solar wind. In the language of space physics, a north-pointing solar magnetic field is called a “northern IMF” and it is synonymous with shields up!
“So, you can imagine our surprise when a northern IMF came along and shields went down instead,” says Sibeck. “This completely overturns our understanding of things.”
Northern IMF events don’t actually trigger geomagnetic storms, notes Raeder, but they do set the stage for storms by loading the magnetosphere with plasma. A loaded magnetosphere is primed for auroras, power outages, and other disturbances that can result when, say, a CME (coronal mass ejection) hits.
The years ahead could be especially lively. Raeder explains: “We’re entering Solar Cycle 24. For reasons not fully understood, CMEs in even-numbered solar cycles (like 24) tend to hit Earth with a leading edge that is magnetized north. Such a CME should open a breach and load the magnetosphere with plasma just before the storm gets underway. It’s the perfect sequence for a really big event.”
Sibeck agrees. “This could result in stronger geomagnetic storms than we have seen in many years.”

Yeah, we’re screwing ourselves by messing with powerful forces with the HAARP program. I’ve read things that seem to point to the possibility that our species is a descendant of a species that lived on another or other planets. Perhaps the current atmosphere-less state of Mars as well as the loads of evidence of relatively recent intelligent life and a widespread civilization could mean that Earth is not the first planet that humans have destroyed.

we don’t understand what this means because we can never put it all in context because we are just discovering it. people are freaking out for no good reason and on a scale we CAN NOT control. keep researching it of course, but we won’t have the foggiest idea how to manipulate planetary conditions properly for many many years to come. every time we realize something new is happening we act like it is new to the planet when in all actuality it might just be new to our understanding or awareness. I have no doubt that this an unforeseen result of the use of the H.A.A.R.P project to intimidate other countries into submission. I saw an interview with the finance minister of japan claiming that the U.S. government paid him a visit and insisted that if they were not on board with the NWO and the global monetary system that they would send him some earthquakes using the haarp technology. Needless to say they had several eathquakes in the following week and many died. Even more strange is that the buildings that fell were schools and hospitals. So if these bullies can threaten countries with weather and earthquakes I doubt they stopped to think what the consequences would be for the planet itself. Just blame global warming right. When they are playing God ,there will be hell to pay.

SCIENCE you make me laugh. The pervesion of science is proven and most scientist, doctors and other self proclaimed luminaries KNOW NOTHING. That is why they have adopting to term “theorie” to replace the true word they should be using “hypothesis”. Not the big bang “theorie” but the big bang hypothesis. Not evolutionary “theorie” but evolutionary hypothesis. Math is a theory as you can prove 2 + 2 = 4. Gravity is theorie. Thermodynamics are theorie. All the rest is still speculation and should therefore be refered to as hypothesis. It’s elementary grade 8 science people. Look at the definitions of both words and see how “modern science” has warped their words to deceive the people into believing their versions of the truth. So, I’m guessing Einstein, Newton, Galileo, Tesla, Curie, and the like only guessed. Their ‘theorie’ is provable and calculable. I tend to rely more on viable, sustainable education and progression of understanding, than to accept an idea that some invisible being created a universe, created trillions of stars and galaxies, put life one one planet, then decided to destroy it because he loved his son and couldn’t overcome 1 dissident angel? Fossil fuel was created during the great flood, they have done the math on the biblical description of the flood and have ascertained that under the amount of water the world was burried under, all the oil in world would’ve been formed with the biomass in about 40 minutes. you notice those faltlines right in the middle of the oceans, that is where the waters of the deep breached up from. The oil sank into the crevases and the water ran back into the planet leaving our continents and oceans. The whole idea of a pangea continent is bullshit, haven’t you noticed that under the ocean, it’s all one massive plate. How could they of drifted apart??? Pissed, I don’t profess all men to be wise. There are wise men, and there are mad scientists. The consequence of a handful of crazed scientists has sealed our fates. Now although I do not follow the bible, I still believe that there is much good in all mankind, and this has been distorted by the actions of secrecy and greed. Their actions will be dealt with by the unwinding of their own destiny. I try to treat all people with respect and dignity, as I would have them do to me. I’m no better than anyone else. I just have different ideas and I’m not afraid to talk about them.
I grew up christian and protestant and I began asking questions that no man of the cloth could answer. Things that would have helped me to understand the concepts of things. After repeated attempts to quench my curiosity, I started reading and researching. After 15 or so years of not being able to find out, I started breaking away from it. My brother has been christian all his life (nearly 50 years) and we still discuss these things. I’m sure I will continue to get inflammatory replies, and that’s ok. When any religious debate ceases to compell me to ask questions, then it means that I’ve given up entirely. And I’m not at that point yet.

We need to seperate belief from religion, religion is an institution of man and therefore it’s corruptable. I don’t mean to disrespect others, people are free to do and think as they please. I just like to point out the failures of modern science, i don’t like the deceptive nature in which they indoctrinate us with their version of the truth, i respect all humans who try to further enlighten themselves weither it be a pursuit of any spirituality. I think muslim, christian, indian and other religions parralel themselves more than any would like to admit. We therefore try to devide ourselves as not believing in the same principles thus causing divisiveness rather than unity.

I’m the kind of person that tends to ask a ton of questions. When asking pastors and such they would say ‘we were not meant to know’. Or when asking parents why something needed to be done and they say ‘because I said so’. I’ve been a ‘why’ person for nearly 50 years. I like to know things, and understand them in a sense beyond ‘because I told you so’, or ‘that is how it is meant to be’. I am accused of playing the devils’ advocate alot due to this, but my conversations tend to be mature and inquisitive. I respect other peoples opinions. At times it is frustrating to hear about faith and science in the same sentence, as they usually tend to contradict each other.
We all have our decided paths of self enlightenment, and we do tend to become defensive when others walk across it.
Einstein and Tesla had very honorable intent with their research. They wanted good to come of it. Einstein destroyed much of his work when he saw what was being done with his knowledge. Tesla was completely exploited. We had great minds working for us until the selfish and greedy ones twisted everything they had discovered. So in this aspect, billions of people worldwide will pay the price for the misdeeds of a few.

I personally do not hate god or bash the bible. I also detest hateful and devious people who manipulate others for greed and selfishness. I can only speak for myself that people who choose to walk a different path are persecuted for not following along. I have always given others a chance to show what they have/are doing is in good faith, and that they have made good and moral decisions. Now, I may not be on the same page with many folks, but in the end, I think, when the final chapter is done, things will all be good.

There was a story, a man said God if you are out there… then show me and he then read the entire Bible and found out there really was a God, a One True God.

I don’t know… This looks like one of those problem – reaction – solution scenarios to me. I think we’ll look back on this and realize that it’s just as hokie as global warming.

I think it may have to do with a “Geomagnetic reversal” in progress, which is something that humans have never witnessed before, but the geological record indicates happens in irregular intervals of 25,000 years to tens of millions of years.

If the magnetic field does reverse itself every 26,000 years, then wouldn’t there be a period when the field is at zero? And wouldn’t that cause total destruction of all life on earth as the solar wind spanks the unprotected planet?

Have any fossils of this tree ever been found? Indeed, there is a tree 4768 years old still living today, a Bristlecone pine in the White Mountains of California. Surely, there must be remnants of wood that is much older than living trees. Perhaps there is wood around from that famous biblical tree?

This is probably a manufactured event. Tesla technology or HAARP as it’s known. And to Proudprimate, I think the tree of knowledge was a powerful hallucinogen like Eboga. Of course it could’ve been anything. By the way fossil fuels are a perfect example of the need of sacrifice in exchange for power. Control of oil means control of the world essentially so it’s power in that sense as well as in the sense of chemical energy and power for engines. There are serious engineers that are convinced that petroleum is not an organic process, ie., that carbon atoms can chain by dint of heat and pressure without benefit of dinosaur, and be saturated with hydrogen deep in the earths recesses.
I heard talk years ago about a Russian project that duplicated the process successfully in the lab.

I’m constantly hearing people here (including Alex) taking words from certain sources as the gospel truth (when it suits them), yet if another story by the exact same source contradicts their THEORIES, suddenly it is a lie. No one is right about everything. Even Einstein.
This magnetic flux/hole/anomaly probably occurs regularly throughout history, but only recently could it have been detected as conclusively by scientists. This is the whole point in these projects to discover what is really happening, to uncover these unseen anomalies that are not factored into our knowledge yet. Not every experiment is created to prove someones political theories right or wrong or to serve political/sinister ends.
I do however agree that pollution IS causing cancer and poor health (but no doubt this hole may raise incidences of cancer too) and I’d love to see some genuine research into “safe levels” for toxin levels throughout history. I’m sure they are just being regularly raised to keep the chem companies from being regulated so severely. Perhaps this hole might be used to explain higher rates of cancer (over the next 20 years) which are actually caused by chemical companies dumping waste indirectly into our food supply, but the original point of this information is knowledge alone – that the hole is there.

In the last 100-150 years the world has seen major technological improvements. If we had been here for millions how come we can’t find any remains of ancient technological? SIMPLE, WE ARE HERE FOR ONLY 6,000.
And by the way, Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome are the only six powers we know of in ancient history. WE CANNOT find any anything that dates back to 2500 BC because the Great Flood happened as the Bible tells.

As I said before I’m sure that if we had been here for billion years we would be riding ultra mega sonic cars and planes and ultra technological stuff by now.
I mean come on in the last 100-150 we went from primitive to modern in just a short timespan! From using the very first gun models that took a huge time to reload to use modern guns that can fire hundreds of bullets per second. To nukes that can wipe out entire areas of civilization.

A good example is the allegorical Ouroboros and the circle, a simple shape of Euclidean geometry visible in the material world.

This wouldn’t be the first time the planet “lost” its magnetic field though this does seem like it has potential for HAARP assistance.
I watched a documentary once where the shield, over time, became weaker and weaker until a point where the earth reversed polarity.
I’m sure this is also a time when meteors where more of a threat.
Maybe this age needs to end anyway.
We appear to be getting the whole thing wrong.
I believe in “God” as the subliminal intelligence of all things – including evolution.
Evolution dictates that the host (whatever that host is) react in a way that supports survival.

It seems like there is a difference of opinion, fact, time, principles, and a general distrust in education by a group of individuals that do not believe the truthfullness of the accumulated body of science.
That is OK! We live in an enlightened time where co-existing perceptions of life and Universe is common. What is the issue?
Rather than rant, communicate with each other. Evaluate each others ideas. Read about the others ideas. Listen to what each is saying. Be willing to learn. Understand, and think in terms of the following: Fact, Opinion, Judgement, Truth, Principle, Analysis, and others.
It is true that there is no God in Science and there is no Science in God. They are two quite different things. There is space for both.
