Relatives of thousands of unidentifed 9/11 victims have opposed plans to bury the human remains in a site underneath the Ground Zero memorial museum.
Families of the 1,123 unidentified terror attack victims said plans to entomb their bodies in a public museum attraction were ‘offensive and distasteful’.
Developers of the September 11 Memorial and Museum want to keep the remains 70 feet underground behind a granite wall emblazoned with the Virgil quote: ‘No day shall erase you from the memory of time’.
But families have described the plans as ‘unacceptable’, and may take legal action against developers if the attraction goes ahead.
Relatives of 9/11 victims gathered at New York’s Ground Zero on Sunday to announce their opposition to the plans.
