FBI Agents to Converge on DNC

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the FBI will dispatch “hundreds” of agents during the DNC “to gather intelligence on possible terrorist activity.” It apparently does not matter there is “no word on any terrorist threats to the convention, but the FBI is taking no chances.” The FBI is not worried about al-Qaeda. Instead, it is keen on “studying tactics, which have blocked streets and disrupted traffic in the past,” tactics employed by its own agents provocateurs as an excuse to crack down on citizens exercising their right to petition the government under the First Amendment.

“The Federal Bureau of Investigation has collected extensive information on the tactics, training and organization of antiwar demonstrators and has advised local law enforcement officials to report any suspicious activity at protests to its counterterrorism squads, according to interviews and a confidential bureau memorandum,” the New York Times reported back in 2003. “F.B.I. officials said in interviews that the intelligence-gathering effort was aimed at identifying anarchists and ‘extremist elements’ plotting violence, not at monitoring the political speech of law-abiding protesters.”

Oh, thats right, we’re the terrorists. I keep forgetting why we need a police state. Thanks, FBI, for reminding me.

Sounds like a prudent use of resources to me. Plain clothes investigators are far less ominous than visible guns, riot gear, tazers, and black helicopters.
The recent black helicopter exercise alarmed those who have studied the tendancy to do exercises before drills that coincide with “terrorist” activity….see London bombing drill of 7/7.
Since I am currently more fearful of the plans of our own power elite than various sand pirates, it is slightly comforting to see the implantation of hundreds of agents. That possibly makes it less likely that they are planning something.
Nevertheless, due to the black helicopter exercise, I have elevated the probability of foul play from 1% to 2%. So I should head out of town as a precautionary measure.
You know there are probably some neoconned nut jobs who would see an attack at the DNC as “smart business.”

If the FBI will be infiltrating the DNC to gather intelligence about possible terrorism, should they not also do the same at the RNC? Why would there be any difference between the two parties with respect to terror? Is one form of terror (right wing) acceptable and all others are not? The U.S. has been the biggest state sponsor of terror in the past 35 years if you include the Contras in Nicaragua, the death squads of El Salvador and the car bombing of Orlando Letelier of Chile which happened in Washington, D.C. Like it or not, the U.S. has an official “state party” which is seen by the Establishment as the only rightful party to have power: The Republican Party. If you don’t believe it, can you ever imagine CIA agents breaking into the Republican National Committee headquarters to get information to pass on to Democratic Party leaders? Not a chance in hell. But the opposite DID happen at the Watergate Hotel in 1972.
