LAST SUMMER, the National Rifle Association ran adverts claiming that Barack Obama would “ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns” if elected. The campaign didn’t do much for John McCain, but in every other respect it has been wildly successful: NRA membership is up 30% and gun control has disappeared from the administration’s list of priorities.
Americans have gone on an extraordinary gun-buying spree. The best available measure of over-the-counter sales is the number of requests for background checks filed with the FBI. From November to February, there were 5.5 million, up almost a third, year on year. Although May’s figures were the weakest since the boom began, gun shops were still selling 15% more weapons than in 2008.
Richard Feldman, a former regional director of the NRA, says the organisation thrives when the right to bear arms is under threat. When there is no such danger, it has to be invented. “You could almost sense the NRA fundraisers licking their chops because for the first time in eight years they had an identifiable bogeyman,” he says. “When people are fearful about losing something that’s the time you can separate them most easily from their money.”

The fact is, President Obama is nowhere near being “the most anti-gun president in American history”. He wants to close a loophole allowing sales without background checks at gun shows, tighter registration of handguns and a national law against carrying concealed weapons. But on whether the second amendment guarantees the individual right to pack a pistol, he supports the conservative position laid down by the Supreme Court last June, which is that a federal handgun ban would be unconstitutional.
The gun lobby expects him to show his true colours soon. “Gun owners are politically savvy people and they realise that the new administration poses risks to their second amendment rights,” says NRA spokeswoman Vicky Cieplak.
Erich Pratt, the communications director of Gun Owners of America, agrees: “The fear is that once he’s done with the economy, he’ll set his sights on other parts of his agenda.”

My only choice has been to buy it online.
I’ve bought about 30,000 rounds in the past 7 months, because the harder they make it to get, the more it pisses me off.
Walmart’s in my area are about 10 miles apart, with a 6 box limit, per customer, in my area. So on a sunday, I’ll make a road trip, getting what ammo I can, at each of the 7 walmart’s in the area. That USED to work, until they stopped having any ammo.
Guns without Ammo, are shiny pieces of metal, also known as clubs.

You should join a gun club, to get over your fear. Alex Jones has a link to such site, and the trainers are really understanding, their gun safety program is excellent. In fact most police seek out Dr. Piazza’s training, that they did not receive at the police academy. Once you start the program, your fear of guns will disappear. As far as what you should keep behind your door for your protection, is your confidence and a gun, because the person on the other side of the door that wants to break in is surly armed with a gun himself. Expensive locks will only delay the inevitable, if some one is determined to get in.

Get a .22 rifle and play with it. They are not very loud, you can shoot one easily without ear protection. They have about as much recoil as a pellet gun and are very easy to handle. You can get 500 rounds for about $20 so practicing is easy. And MORE people are killed by .22 each year than any other round. I’m not saying it be my choice but a .22 will beat nothing every way. Having pepper spray, a stun gun, or the proverbial kitchen knife will work but it takes quite a bit to Stab someone, eh? A warning, then a warning shot, then shoot em.

Firearms are probably the most efficient and easy to use defensive weapon, however;
if you prefer not to have a firearm, I would suggest a sign on your house reading: “HOME PROTECTED BY 2nd AMENDMENT”.
The odds of a house with that sign on it being targeted are low.
As for actually having to defend yourself, your family or property from an intruder, I’d go with pepper-spray. Non lethal, incapacitating, and has a range of 6 or more feet.
Basically, I prefer a defense that requires no strength, (relatively) little training, and can be used without having to be within arms length of an attacker.

Hey MeanJean,
I would personally suggest that you get a very good combat knife, if you are scared of guns. Once you buy a knife, take a tactical knife / defensive knife course. Having any weapon and not having the guts to use it, or the knowledge to us it, will do you NO GOOD. You will hear the expression, don’t take a knife to a gun fight, but in most instances, if YOU are highly trained with a knife, you can effectively gut someone without them even being able to get off a shot.
Another suggestion, a form of Martial Arts, that focuses on disarming and killing an opponent in as few moves as possible, such as Dim Mak *which will take years to master* or judo which most police can pick up in a few weeks.
I personally like the distance based defenses, such as shot guns and tactical rifles, as the more distance between me and the perp, the less damage I will likely take. These are not ALWAYS the case, so you need some form of fighting or knife course, or preferably, both.

The constitution is only a factor, as long as good men and women are willing to stand up to any tyrant who tries to destroy it. I see no one, militia’s or anyone else standing up, even after all the crap happening. It’s time for men and women to stand up, and stop hiding behind their gods, and take back the freedoms our forefathers fought and died for.

The NRA and Gun Owners of America are infiltrated and controlled groups just like the John Birch Society.

As unemployment begins to rise, along with all the other financial hits people are taking, look for petty theft and crime to rise. These will be the first signs. Cities will begin to be unlivable as people begin to prey off one another. Then when this hits a critical mass…more and more gangs or groups will have to be formed to guarantee survival.

I always here a lot of talk about militia groups and taking back the country.
And a lot of talk about how the government has them on watch lists as domestic terrorists.
But where are they?
And they don’t seem to be doing much of anything regarding armed revolt.
Isn’t the hour kind of…late?
I mean…if you were the type to be preparing for this type of thing, do you only kick into action when they are doing a Waco-type siege on your house and property? When you are severely outgunned, surprised and surrounded?

You see…it won’t be going down like that at all.
One day you will be sitting in your backyard and twenty-five hostile gang members slinging bats and carrying knives and guns come over your fence for a few of your beers, a hamburger off your grill and a date with your wife and daughter. You wont’ see any cops around for a long time after that. Have to let the streets do in the streets. Then just go around and put one in the head of the wounded and maimed for their own good. The militia is all armed people not working for the government. They aren’t necessarily unified or coordinated. If you have a weapon, you are part of the militia. Even if you have never met or trained with anyone else.
The main reason there isn’t an armed revolt yet is that people just want to live their lives peacefully. They’ll tolerate what they have to while it is tolerable. You’ll only start to see violence when it is the last real option other than slavery. Even then most people will choose slavery.

My guess is that an event (an unknown event at this time) will trigger 1 of 2 things. 1 will be a call to turn in your guns for the “general good”. 2 will be a bloody resistance to martial law.

“a national law against carrying concealed weapons” That sounds pretty radical and paranoid to me. Luckily I live in a state that allows me to carry and federal law does not supersede state law.

let’s do something about it. yes, it is good to discuss what is REALLY going on (kudos to all you who are actually awake), but at some point we have to stop talking, stop thinking, and stop deliberating and start DOING. we have to move on to the next step now that we know. we have the responsibility on our shoulders to awaken the walking sleepers because we KNOW the TRUTH. if we all actually care and are pissed off, because i am very pissed off at this bullshit, then we have to start doing something about. first step, we have to get the message across to the sleepers by compiling a way to speak to them. the truth is very good at awakening people and we are delving in the truth. the second step would be to remove all politicians from office and start anew. i’m not really technologically savvy, but there has to be a way to break the mass media broadcasting and televise something for at lest ten minutes that will reach millions of people; millions of people who do not know what the hell is going on. i’m not talking about revolution, but a civil way to find a solution and the solution is to have everyone on the same page that way the power doesn’t seem to lie in the governments hands. people are ignorant, yes, but, there is a way to break that ignorance; people have the opportunity to NOT accept the bullshit being fed to us, by the FED and the government, and to stop being complacent on the double speak from very good questions. we pay their salaries, we’re their bosses, will you lie to your boss? will you not answer important questions from your boss? can you do whatever the fuck you want and put it on your bosses tab? can you give your boss bullshit? no, no, no and no. i would be a hypocrite if i do not follow what i’ve ranted about, but, in all honesty, i am doing my part. although, i have to admit, one person reaching out to one person at a time is not efficient enough. humans are naturally gregarious and if the sleepers see that a lot more people are actually taking light on this matter then let’s do something about. let’s start talking about how we can actually move towards progress. progress through truth. progress towards positivity. progress towards a new evolution, not towards a new revolution.

Umm, you must be one of those Israelis that are doing the “Nigerian scam”? I get e-mails and phone calls to this effect, they try to get your bank account info and then clean you out. Either you were being sarcastic in light of these scams, or you were serious and were trying to pull a scam. If you were serious, you are an Israeli dis-info agent trying to infiltrate, even on top of trying to seduce with money. Which is it LRRP?
