Nov. 26 (Bloomberg) — Dubai is shaking investor confidence across the Persian Gulf after its proposal to delay debt payments risked triggering the biggest sovereign default since Argentina in 2001.

The cost of protecting government notes from Abu Dhabi to Bahrain rose, extending the steepest increase since February as Dubai World, with $59 billion of liabilities, sought a “standstill” agreement from creditors. Bonds of its property unit, Nakheel PJSC, mature Dec. 14. Dubai contracts climbed 124 basis points to 564, the most since they began trading in January, adding to 122 yesterday, CMA Datavision prices showed.

“There is nothing investors dislike more than this kind of event,” said Norval Loftus, the head of convertible bonds and Islamic debt at Matrix Group Ltd. in London, which manages $2.5 billion of assets including Dubai credits. “The worst-case scenario will of course be involuntary restructuring on the Nakheel security that brings into question the entire nature of the sovereign support for various borrowers in the region.”

Moody’s Investors Service and Standard & Poor’s cut the ratings on state companies yesterday, saying they may consider state-controlled Dubai World’s plan to delay debt payments a default. The sheikhdom, ruled by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, borrowed $80 billion in a four-year construction boom that reduced its reliance on falling oil supplies and created the region’s tourism and financial hub.

An astounding exchange took place in the European Union Parliament earlier this week when MEP Nigel Farage was reprimanded for daring to expose the fact that the EU is an authoritarian dictatorship ruled by unelected bureaucrats to the detriment of national sovereignty. Farage effectively broke a tyrannical 1999 law that states it is illegal to criticize the EU.

People like European Commission President Manuel Barroso squirmed and scowled as Farage openly savaged EU elitists for their lies and cronyism.

Farage wasted no time in going after the EU over their dictatorial policies, stating, “It’s taken you eight and a half years of bullying, of lying, of ignoring democratic referendums to get this treaty through (referring to the Lisbon Treaty)”.

Farage then attacked the appointment of Van Rompuy as the first EU President, highlighting that he was merely a pliable front man for Barroso.

“But at least he’s an elected politician unlike Baroness Ashton,” said Farage, referring to the woman who landed the job of High Representative for Foreign Affairs.

“In some ways she’s ideal isn’t she ,” said Farage, leader of the UK Independence Party. “She has never had a proper job, and has never been elected to anything in her life, so I guess she’s perfect for this European Union.”

As soon as Farage hit his stride in revealing the dictatorial nature of the EU, he was immediately reprimanded by President of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek, who said he would like to “put down” Farage and later warned him for the “tone” Mr. Farage used in criticizing”important EU people”.

As we have seen in the past, the EU is very sensitive about anyone discussing the fact that they represent a dictatorial body.

The Nazis killed people who spoke out against the Third Reich, whereas the EU has implemented an altogether more efficient solution – simply kill their free speech instead.

Earlier this year, a Dutch MP was refused entry to Britain because his political opinions were deemed offensive under EU laws. Euro MP’s have consistently attempted to ban the “dangerous and unregulated blogosphere” in an attempt to shut down free speech on the Internet. Under the 1999 ruling of the European Court Of Justice (case 274/99), it is illegal to criticize the EU and the EU is on a mission to outlaw any national political parties that do not pander to the European federal superstate agenda.

Farage continued by highlighting the fact that Ashton represented the EU’s agenda in a “post-democratic age,” where people are selected by the elite for high power positions rather than elected by the people.

“She married well, she married an advisor and a friend and a supporter of Tony Blair and got put in the House of Lords, when she was put in the House of Lords she was given one big job, and the job was to get the Lisbon Treaty through the House of Lords, and to do so pretending that it was entirely different to the EU Constitution…and she vigorously crushed any attempt in the House of Lords for the British people to have a referendum,” said Farage at which point EU bureaucrats, upset that their tyranny was being openly discussed in the EU Parliament, began attempting to silence Farage by shouting and clapping, as Barroso looked visibly shaken.

Farage responded to one heckler by stating, “Well at least I’ve been elected sir, unlike her, she’s not been elected and the people don’t have the power to remove her.”

As EU bureaucrats continued to heckle Farage, he explained how Ashton had taken large donations from a prominent member of the Communist Party in Great Britain in her role as Treasurer for the CND, demanding answers on why she had taken money from someone who represented an organization staunchly opposed to western democracy.

“Did she take money from enemies of the west, that question must be answered,” stated Farage.

Farage then accused MEP’s of “betraying their national democracies” in allowing Lisbon to pass and warned that an avalanche of new laws would follow, before calling for a national referendum in the UK to decide whether Britain should leave the EU. The camera then cut back to Barroso who looked like he was fuming at the fact that someone had dared stand up to the almighty European Union and expose their authoritarian and dictatorial nature.

After Buzek warned him again over “certain expressions” he was using, Farage attempted to find out what he had said that was so offensive, before a Socialist MEP babbled out some barely comprehensible globalist rhetoric in a lame attempt to counter Farage’s incisive speech.

“With respect I think you’ve completely missed the point,” responded Farage, “Because twice you said ‘the people that were elected last week’ – they have not been elected, that is the point that I am making and in the case of Baroness Ashton she has never been elected to public office in her entire life, she takes an enormously powerful job and the peoples of Europe do not have the power to hold her to account and to remove her and that fundamentally is what is wrong with this whole European Union, it’s all about bureaucracy versus democracy.”

The foundations for the EU and ultimately the Euro single currency were laid by the secretive Bilderberg Group in the mid-1950’s. Bilderberg’s owned leaked documents prove that the agenda to create a European common market and a single currency were formulated by Bilderberg in 1955. One of the group’s principle founders was H. Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, a former Nazi SS officer.

But the ideological framework for the European Union goes back even further, to the 1940’s when top Nazi economists and academics outlined the plan for a single European economic community, an agenda that was duly followed after the end of the second world war.

As we have highlighted in the past, Nazism and the EU have some very disturbing parallels. Indeed, the two are fundamentally intertwined and the origins of the EU can be traced directly back to the Nazis.

The fact that the EU was a brainchild of top Nazi economists and industrialists, formulated as a means of preserving dictatorial power and then implemented by a former Nazi working under the auspices of the Bilderberg Group in 1955, proves that the entire European Union system is poisoned with a legacy and a raison d’être of totalitarianism.

This is becoming increasingly obvious in the 21st century as popular social movements across Europe rise up to oppose the blatant power grab being undertaken by the EU via the Lisbon Treaty, which was forced through in Ireland earlier this year despite the population having already rejected it in a previous national referendum.

Just like Hitler repeatedly polled Germans of the 1930’s until he could intimidate them into delivering the result he wanted, the European Union has followed the same method. The ratification of the Lisbon Treaty was what enabled the EU to create the post of a European President in the first place, and there seems little doubt that Van Rompuy and Ashton will do everything in their power to accelerate the move towards Bilderberg’s ultimate goal – a dictatorial European federal superstate that completely swallows up what tattered shreds of sovereignty member states have left.

In an incredible reversal of fact and fiction the Dutch Environmental minister Jacqueline Cramer claimed today that the hackers who took the data from University of East-Anglia’s server “manipulated the numbers”, supposedly to sabotage the upcoming Copenhagen conference.

Although nobody disputes the authenticity of the e-mails, Cramer apparently does. In addition to her bizarre statement that the unknowns, after hacking into the University’s computer, somehow “changed the numbers” she even goes so far as to scream out loud: “this is just criminal. It’s unacceptable.”

Although the authenticity of the e-mails unearthed is not even disputed by the scientists who wrote them, Cramer claims they are. According to several Dutch newspapers she also added that the action by the hackers is regarded as of little consequence by the climate negotiators who gather in Copenhagen next month. She also added that she has no problem engaging climate skeptics, “but not like this.”

In response to the accusations by Cramer, Holland’s biggest newspaper De Telegraaf now reports that a member of the Dutch opposition party PVV is urging the minister to explain herself in her turn regarding the obvious fudging with climate data by the IPCC-affiliated climate research unit (translation is by PrisonPlanet.Forum member Squarepusher):“I want to know”, stated PVV-member De Mos, “if minister Cramer does not find it despicable that people have been so utterly misled.”

Dutch geophysicist Hans Erren concurs. “This is very damning”, Erren told De Telegraaf, uttering furthermore his complete disdain for this “clique of politically motivated scientists that try to get rid of everything that does not fit their ideology.”

Now what on earth could provoke the minister to carelessly and bizarrely lie about the hackers and the data uncovered by them? The answer is: only one with an interest to perpetuate the global warming hoax. Who else would claim right off the bat that the data was fixed by the hackers?

Here’s a hint. Last month the very same environmental minister who is now angrily railing against the hackers, addressed the Club of Rome’s Global Assembly gathering held in Amsterdam in the run-up to Copenhagen. In the company of Queen Beatrix and Michael Gorbachev, she

“Like so many of you, I was inspired by the Club of Rome to pursue a green career. I read the Limits to Growth as a young biology student in 1972.”

After this remarkable confession by the current environmental minister, Cramer continues worshiping the 1972 publication, saying that:

“After I had digested its importance, I couldn’t wait to do my part to help save the planet. I have no regrets that I went green- it has been a lifelong challenge and adventure.”

After calling for a “global strategy”, she stated:

“Club of Rome, thank you. You identified and put the spotlight on humankind’s predicament. And more than that. You inspire me and many, many others to take collective action. And to create an environmentally conscious movement representing all layers of society. I firmly believe that we can only transit to a sustainable economy through such a collective action. Now it is up to all of us to implement the solutions. And of course I will do my part.”

Wow! The scandal just gets juicier and juicier. Now it seems that the Kiwis may have been at it too – tinkering with raw data to make “Global Warming” look scarier than it really is. (Hat tip: Watts Up With That; Ian Wishart)

The alleged villains this time are the climate scientists at the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NiWA) – New Zealand’s answer to Britain’s Climate Research Unit. And to judge by this news alert by the Climate Science Coalition of NZ, both institutions share a similarly laissez-faire attitude to scientific accuracy.

Compare and contrast these two graphs and you’ll see .

This is the graph from NiWA’s website, showing mean annual temperature over New Zealand from 1853. Note the dotted straight line showing the upward trend. Worrying, isn’t it? Almost enough to make you fall in love your flickery, yellowy new eco-light bulbs, recycle your kids and commit yourself to a binding agreement at Copenhagen.

Can you see the difference? I can – and I know as little about science as Al Gore.

Ilya Somin, associate professor at George Mason University School of Law, explains why the Climategate emails undermine the faith non-experts have about man-made warming:

I thought that global warming was probably a genuine and serious problem because that is what the overwhelming majority of relevant scientists seem to believe, and I generally didn’t doubt their objectivity.

At the very least, the Climategate revelations should weaken our confidence in the above conclusion. At least some of the prominent scholars in the field seem driven at least in part by ideology, and willing to use intimidation to keep contrarian views from being published, even if the articles in question meet normal peer review standards. Absent such tactics, it’s possible that more contrarian research would be published in professional journals and the consensus in the field would be less firm.

The evidence of scientific dishonesty supplied by these communications is so copious it’s hard to know where to begin an attempt to describe them. Many of the e-mails brazenly discuss the manipulation of scientific data either to provide the appearance of greater support for global warming science or to undermine the claims of skeptics.

Deutsche Welle:

German climatologist Hans von Storch of the Institute for Coastal Research in Geesthacht, Germany, remarked that the “unfortunate writing” done by Jones and others has “likely damaged the credibility of climate science.” …But the fallout may not be entirely negative, he writes; in fact he sees a silver lining for climate science: “I would assume that … a useful debate about the degree of politicization of climate science will emerge.”

George Monbiot Excerpt: I have seldom felt so alone. Confronted with crisis, most of the environmentalists I know have gone into denial. The emails hacked from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia, they say, are a storm in a tea cup, no big deal, exaggerated out of all recognition. It is true that climate change deniers have made wild claims which the material can’t possibly support (the end of global warming, the death of climate science). But it is also true that the emails are very damaging. The response of the greens and most of the scientists I know is profoundly ironic, as we spend so much of our time confronting other people’s denial. Pretending that this isn’t a real crisis isn’t going to make it go away. Nor is an attempt to justify the emails with technicalities. We’ll be able to get past this only by grasping reality, apologising where appropriate and demonstrating that it cannot happen again. [...]

One of the most damaging emails was sent by the head of the climatic research unit, Phil Jones. He wrote “I can’t see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report. Kevin and I will keep them out somehow – even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!” [...] Even so, his message looks awful. It gives the impression of confirming a potent meme circulated by those who campaign against taking action on climate change: that the IPCC process is biased. However good the detailed explanations may be, most people aren’t going to follow or understand them. Jones’s statement, on the other hand, is stark and easy to grasp. [...]

If you take the wording literally, in one case he appears to be suggesting that emails subject to a request be deleted, which means that he seems to be advocating potentially criminal activity. Even if no other message had been hacked, this would be sufficient to ensure his resignation as head of the unit. I feel desperately sorry for him: he must be walking through hell. But there is no helping it; he has to go, and the longer he leaves it, the worse it will get. He has a few days left in which to make an honourable exit. Otherwise, like the former Speaker of the House of Commons, Michael Martin, he will linger on until his remaining credibility vanishes, inflicting continuing damage to climate science. [...]

In other words, the university knew what was coming three days before the story broke. As far as I can tell, it sat like a rabbit in the headlights, waiting for disaster to strike. When the emails hit the news on Friday morning, the university appeared completely unprepared. There was no statement, no position, no one to interview. Reporters kept being fobbed off while CRU’s opponents landed blow upon blow on it. When a journalist I know finally managed to track down Phil Jones, he snapped “no comment” and put down the phone. This response is generally taken by the media to mean “guilty as charged”. When I got hold of him on Saturday, his answer was to send me a pdf called “WMO statement on the status of the global climate in 1999″. Had I a couple of hours to spare I might have been able to work out what the heck this had to do with the current crisis, but he offered no explanation.

By then he should have been touring the TV studios for the past 36 hours, confronting his critics, making his case and apologising for his mistakes. Instead, he had disappeared off the face of the Earth. Now, far too late, he has given an interview to the Press Association, which has done nothing to change the story.

The handling of this crisis suggests that nothing has been learnt by climate scientists in this country from 20 years of assaults on their discipline. They appear to have no idea what they’re up against or how to confront it. Their opponents might be scumbags, but their media strategy is exemplary. [...]

But the deniers’ campaign of lies, grotesque as it is, does not justify secrecy and suppression on the part of climate scientists. Far from it: it means that they must distinguish themselves from their opponents in every way. No one has been as badly let down by the revelations in these emails as those of us who have championed the science. We should be the first to demand that it is unimpeachable, not the last.

Canada is still investigating an unusually high rate of a side effect known as anaphylaxis from a batch of GlaxoSmithKline Plc’s swine flu vaccine, health officials said today.

Anaphylaxis occurred at a rate of about 4 per 100,000 shots in one lot of 172,000 doses of the vaccine, David Butler-Jones, Canada’s chief public health officer, said at an Ottawa news conference. Typically, about 1 person in 100,000 will suffer such a reaction. Anaphylaxis is an acute allergic reaction that includes swollen tongues, throats and respiratory distress.

Glaxo, the sole supplier of swine flu shots to Canada, has shipped 7.5 million doses of the Arepanrix vaccine to the country, the company said this week. For all batches, the rate of side effects is 0.32 per 100,000, health officials said today.

The higher rate from one batch may be a statistical anomaly, Butler-Jones said. About 15,000 shots from the batch that still haven’t been used are being held back while investigators look into the matter, officials said. There were no obvious glitches in the manufacturing process, Butler-Jones said.

As Robert Tracinski correctly notes, the Global Warming hoax is the scandal of the century. People should be investigated and prosecuted for perpetrating a fraud so large it makes Bernie Madoff look like Santa Claus.

Congressional Republicans are already looking into the Global Cooling cover-up.

Congressional Republicans have started investigating climate scientists whose hacked emails suggest they tried to squelch dissenting views about global warming.

An aide to Rep. Darrell Issa (R., Calif.), the ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, said investigators are studying the documents, which unknown hackers stole last week from the computer of a prominent British climate-research center.

Investigators are focusing on the correspondence of White House Science Adviser John Holdren, he said. . . .

Separately, Sen. James Inhofe (R., Okla.), an outspoken critic of the view that humans are causing global warming, said that in light of the emails, he will call for an investigation into the state of climate science if the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works doesn’t act soon.

Here is a little sample of the fraud (with lots more at the link) we are talking about.

More seriously, in one e-mail, a prominent global warming alarmist admits to using a statistical “trick” to “hide the decline” in temperatures. Anthony Watts provides an explanation of this case in technical detail; the “trick” consists of selectively mixing two different kinds of data-temperature “proxies” from tree rings and actual thermometer measurements-in a way designed to produce a graph of global temperatures that ends the way the global warming establishment wants it to: with an upward “hockey stick” slope.

Confirming the earlier scandal about cherry-picked data, the e-mails show CRU scientists conspiring to evade legal requests, under the Freedom of Information Act, for their underlying data. It’s a basic rule of science that you don’t just get to report your results and ask other people to take you on faith. You also have to report your data and your specific method of analysis, so that others can check it and, yes, even criticize it. Yet that is precisely what the CRU scientists have refused.

So maybe it is time for people to start going to jail. In England, if these faux scientists deleted emails that were subject to FOIA requests, they are going to need good lawyers.

But university researchers may also find themselves in legal jeopardy if they deleted emails requested under the U.K.’s Freedom of Information (FOIA) legislation, a crime under U.K. law. . . .

“It’s definitely a crime to do that in the U.K., and we have reported it to the police,” said Simon Dunford, a spokesman at East Anglia, which is conducting an internal probe.

But the emails, which appear to be genuine, though their authenticity could not be confirmed, indicate a concerted effort to fight the FOI requests that may itself have slipped into questionable territory.

For instance, in May of 2008, the school received a legal information request for correspondence of an East Anglia researcher, Keith Briffa, involved in the preparation of the most recent scientific report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, known as AR4. Two days later, according to the alleged correspondence, Phil Jones, Director of the Climatic Research Unit, sent out an email to colleagues asking them to delete any such emails.

And while it would be nice to see a bunch of geeks doing the perp walk for geek crimes like FOIA violations, the real crime in this mammoth scam is the the fraud perpetrated on everyone in the world by the Warmers, from Al Gore on down to the MSM.

Governments all over the world (mostly those run by liberals and socialists) have spent hundreds of billions of dollars fighting a non-existent threat. All of those tax dollars could have gone to the taxpayers’ families for real needs like food and education. Instead, it was taken by governments in the form of taxes and given as grants to the Global Warming industry. These Global Warming taxes and regulations were designed to limit our freedom by controlling our thermostats, making us drive smaller cars, and outlawing big-screen TV’s. They even considered eliminating black cars.

If these emails are accurate, they have committed fraud on us, a crime that requires a willful and knowing intent to deceive. And when there is a group of them, all agreeing to participate in the crime, it is called a conspiracy.

In this country, if you solicit government money for a fraudulent purpose you pay a fine and go to jail.

In essence, government fraud refers to illegal acts that intentionally divest the government of funds through deception or scams. When the government gets swindled, taxpayers pay the price. Government fraud is a serious crime, and is generally pursued to the fullest extent of the law. In fact, in many government fraud cases, both criminal and civil charges are brought against the defendant.

The Federal False Claims Act makes it illegal to present a false claim in order to defraud the government, or to conspire to do so. . . . The penalties for government fraud under the False Claims Act are quite harsh. A convict must pay back three times the amount stolen in addition to a civil fine of $5,000 to $10,000.

And under the Criminal Statutes the penalty is up to 5 years in prison.

Hmmm, isn’t Al Gore’s company going to benefit directly from trading in the carbon credits contemplated by Cap and Trade? Didn’t Al Gore testify before Congress to have them pass Cap and Trade? Doesn’t Al Gore know all about Global Warming? Aren’t all these phony scientists the experts Gore said proved the science was settled?

It is high time we shut down government-funded Global Warming projects, repeal regulations designed to reduce Global Warming, kill Cap and Trade, and most of all, round up all these swindlers and throw them all in jail.

As they battle the holiday crowds this weekend, frazzled travelers at Chicago airports also will have the option of stopping to get protection against the swine flu virus.

A clinic at O’Hare International Airport run by the University of Illinois at Chicago began offering H1N1 flu vaccines in nasal mist form this week. City officials say the clinic also hopes to receive arm-shot vaccines this week and plans to open kiosks to administer the mist form of the vaccine at both O’Hare and Midway this weekend.

“We feel that it is a good amenity and service for travelers passing through the airport as well as the employees working at the airport,” said Gregg Cunningham, a spokesman for the Department of Aviation.

City officials said the UIC clinic at O’Hare now has several hundred doses of the nasal mist, which it is offering in Terminal 2 to qualified individuals. They would not specify how many more doses of the hard-to-find vaccine the clinic had ordered or how many were expected this week.

Concern that Europeans are shunning the vaccine against the H1N1 virus was raised this week by the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. The Swiss-based nonprofit says that as European countries roll out their vaccine campaigns, they face opposition from anti-vaccine lobbyists. It says some of these groups are deliberately spreading misinformation. Guiseppe Cornaglia is the society’s former president.

“We have strong bodies of evidence from most countries in Europe in which people, including doctors, public health professionals are disseminating doubts about the validity of the vaccine,” said Cornaglia.
