Figures Reveal Corporate Cronyism At Work In Bailout Vote
Those who voted yes had receieved more handsome contributions

A public watchdog database has conducted some interesting research into representatives who voted yes to the bailout bill, shedding light as to who their loyalties truly lie with.
MAPLight.org, a site dedicated to illuminating the connection between campaign donations and legislative votes, concludes that the 205 Representatives who voted for the bill received more than twice as much money from the banking sector than those who voted against it.
MAPLight.org has found that, over the past five years, banks and securities firms gave an average of $231,877 in campaign contributions to each Representative voting in favor of the bailout, compared with an average of $150,982 to each Representative voting against the bailout–54 percent more money given to those who voted Yes.
The site, which makes money/vote connections transparent, to help citizens hold their legislators accountable, revealed that Democrats who voted yes received “an average of $212,700 each, about twice as much as those voting No, $107,993.” Republicans who voted yes “received an average of $273,181 each, 50% more than those voting No, $181,688.”
“Profit-driven companies wouldn’t be making campaign contributions if it didn’t buy them influence or access,” said Daniel Newman, MAPLight.org’s executive director. “Votes in Congress align with the river of money that flows through our political system.”

Is there anyone making a huge push to get corporate money out of politics ? Every single person in the US should demand this happens immediately.
If so, I’d like to join their cause. This single factor is really a major part of the problems our country has.

Why is this even legal? Companies / Corporations should not be able to donate to any politicians campaign. The whole foundation of the US is government by the people, FOR the people, not by the corporations for the corporations.

We all know the truth of the matter . And don’t let up the pressure on these congressional scumbags . Keep calling and emailing our opposition to any action they want to scare us into . I just saw a Fox news reader doing a report from the capital . The only news in the story was that she held up a copy of this so called “Bailout Bill” , the damn thing was 400 , and high high change , pages long . They have put every pet project , scam , imbezelment scheme , fleecing plan , outright theft for they and their pals they could think of in this thing . We need to make it abundantly clear that their jobs are on the line . If they are not up for re-election in November they can be recalled by the people they represent . All it takes is petitions and file some paper work and probably a few other things . Point is even if November isn’t a fear for them , RECALL is !

Yeah, that is probably just the way it is, but who the hell will do anything with that information in favor of we, the people? It is too bad, I am not going to vote because I know the election will be fixed. I think we should have made that $700 billion be given back to us, the taxpayers. That way you would divide the number of the population 18 and over and divide $700 billion by it and everybody should get about roughly 2.5 million which we immediately would all be taxed on, and if we bought our cars, and our homes, and paid off our student loans, well, what do you think, our economy would prosper…we might even be able to buy health insurance. Will wonders never cease? But Nahhhh…the current crooked administration would never let us prosper. They just want to slowly kill us and still give us the bill! They never meant anybody but the rich illuminati to prosper. It would be unthinkable to them!

You mean that politicians merely support whoever gives them money to run for office?
We live in a plutocracy, people. The people that control the wealth, control the politicians, control the media and control anything else of significance in this truly broken society.
The beauty of the situation is that all we need to do is start using a viable alternative currency and their power disappears. Social Viability has this very solution.

I am on line with turning our backs on the financial injustices that we have been enduring for far to long.
Sound currency run by the people.Striking their bill fold, rendered powerless.
The money manipulaters will crash the market swiftly if they don”t recieve bailout, if they do recieve our money there will be a perfectly gradualized resession.Contraction of credit is also reaccumulation .If you look at a long term price chart of let’s say the dow.A period of 40 -60 years the booms and bust can be visualized . A 50% retracement often occurs after each significant bottom or top hence the prediction of the dow hitting 5000 pnts.The markets are being falsely supported through organized buying and selling and the publics the bait.The men in suits always get back thier goods so they can sell them back to you.

Alex is like a brother , even though we haven’t met. I work hard at my job and when I come home, I like to download the latest interview and check in with the site, but in all honesty all these moving adds are distracting and I find it offensive.

I am extremely surprised at the fact that nobody has questioned why politicians raise and spend such vast sums of money to get elected.
According to opensecrets.org the latest figures for those still in the running for next months Presidential elections are

All of this just to get a fairly low paying job with great responsibility for just 4 years and a maximum of 8. If elected the incumbent must place their personal and business life of hold for the duration of that tenure.
Mainstream media appears to believe that donations raised are a guide to the popularity of a candidate.
A rule of thumb that I have found is that the more a product or service is advertised the worse that product or service is.
When it comes to the Congress and House of Representatives there is no limit on the number of terms anyone can do. It is a known fact that most voters do not know anything about who they are voting for and take the lazy option of voting for the incumbent if they vote at all.
Looking at the television images of those representing the people of America most of them would have retired quietly if in private industry.

hey ebbi ..It works the same everywhere .. Politicians are generally corrupt ..Usually funded by the big corporations to get in to positions of influence . Democracy died decades ago ..I am 37 and have truly never witnessed any People influence in world affairs…We have been silenced gagged threatened and held hostage by Crimal interest.

I overheard a bank lobbyist–(he said he was from Husch, Sanders, Blackwell,a law-lobby firm)drunk at a (public) bar in Omaha laughing about how the bailout will be a boon for lobbying politicians voting on this financial apocalypse. He bragged that he had worked in Washington,D.C., with “the Abramoff guys..” and waxed about the good old days in 2002-2004 in Jack’s own DC reastaurant, where he ‘learned the ropes…’ of lobbying(bribing?) how this was the ‘mother of all funds…$700 billion…more than the Iraq war IN A WEEK…” This is what the country is facing—filthy lucre in the hands of the gonifs of finance. This has to be stopped if this is what I overhear in public about the ‘participants’ in this mess. Is Hank Paulson going to write checks on papers drawn up by these(lobbyists and bankers) pigs at the public trough? You betcha. When I heard this I grabbed for my wallet…

The Agenda does not take NO for an answer. Congress have said ‘no’ so the vote for the bailout will continue until Congress says YES.

My goodness…that site lol yes what is really happing here, it’s so in the open but almost as if main stream leaves the few goodies out of the picture so the numbers turn out way lower…it’s not just bad that the majority recieved money for this bill and voted on it based on this but the fact that both sides yes and no recieved money to hopefully pass the vote and look at last night the majority won I guess now friday we will see the same thing it will go through
