NORFOLK — For the first time, Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk is requiring all workers to get the seasonal flu vaccine.
The reason: the swine flu threat.
All 3,000 employees will receive the free immunizations or nasal sprays.
Distribution began Tuesday.
“That way, you keep the kids from being exposed in what we call hospital-acquired influenza infections,” explained Arno Zaritsky, senior vice president of clinical services.
The hospital, meantime, is waiting for its shipment of the newly-approved swine flu vaccine, expected sometime in October.
