Police are braced for more violence at G20 demonstrations after officers came under attack while treating a dying man during the first day of protests in London.
Although some demonstrators will converge on the Stock Exchange, their main focus moves from the City to the Excel centre, where world leaders are meeting for their summit.
Commander Simon O’Brien, a member of the Metropolitan Police’s command team for the G20 security operation, warned there may be more clashes between officers and demonstrators.
Police were targeted last night while they tried to help the dying man, who was found unconscious in the street near the Bank of England just before 7.30pm.
They had to move the casualty away for urgent treatment after bottles were thrown at them by protesters, a Met spokesman said.
“A member of the public went to a police officer on a cordon in Birchin Lane, junction with Cornhill to say that there was a man who had collapsed round the corner,” he said.

Lame protests at a lame summit….what a big non-event allround; except for Gordon Brown proclaiming a NWO…

Well gee, the police ought to know if there is going to be “clashes” since they are the ones creating the clashes using their handy provocateur group. It does look like a completely staged event, focusing on one tiny unboarded area with full media coverage and reporting (usually large protests are not even worthy of mention) and smart assed remarks made by the Corporate Media (Chris mathews for one) to incite the corporate media audience into believing that all protesters are “anarchists, a total lie. The line connecting ordinary people to terrorists is constantly part of the mediamouth hype.

And what gets me is that they looked so completely stupid and obvious with a most likely staged crowd, but yet they appear to have pulled it off anyway. They only need to be smarter than most people, if that tells you anything. If this was random, where did the outfits and ram and docile onlookers come from?

i’ve just come back from them protests today and the cops were using snatch squads, intimidation and there was the corperate media everywhere! there was supposed to be 7 marches today but due to the death of ian tomlinson only a couple actually took place. at the edcxel complex there was about 500 ppl attending and there was a sit down protest at the bank of england where police surrounded them….tried to intimidate then wandered off after about an hour when myself and a mate of mine turned up at around 5pm. i also had a scout around the RBS bank that was targeted and noticed that it was the only one without boards up so obviously it was a staged provocation. i also noticed earlier on in the day as we were making our way to the g20 itself. we spotted our equivelent of your swat armoured cars! found out later that the cops had raided a squat in the east end where the supposed anarcists were staying. what else can i report? oh yeah the propagahnda bill posters by the police, goverment and even spotted a couple that mentioned it was alright so be a sheep once in a while and to zig and erm zig all made by ING. i have photos on my mobile and will submit to alex and team for their viewing and also will be posted on my facebook account.
