Gardener ordered to take down barbed wire fence ‘in case thieves hurt themselves on it’

A gardener has been ordered by council chiefs to remove three foot high barbed wire ringing his allotment – in case thieves scratch themselves climbing over it.
Bill Malcolm, 61, took the drastic step of installing the wire in a bid to prevent burglars raiding his tool shed and ransacking his vegetable plots.
Intruders have struck three times in four months, stealing more than £300 worth of hardware, including spades, forks and hoes as well as destroying his potato patch.
The fed-up gardener surrounded his 600 square yard site in Worcester with a single strand of barbed wire, which stood no more than waist high.

But his local council declared the security measure was a health and safety hazard and warned him they would forcibly remove it if he refused.
Bill said: ‘It’s an absolutely ridiculous situation, all I wanted was to protect my property but the wire had to go in case a thief scratched himself.
‘The council said they were unhappy about the precautions I had made but my response was to tell them that only someone climbing over on to my allotment could possibly hurt themselves.
‘They shouldn’t be trespassing in the first place but the council apologised and said they didn’t want to be sued by a wounded thief.
‘I told them to let the thief sue me so at least that way I would know who was breaking into my allotment but everything I said fell on deaf ears.’

~The government cant use its tracked vehicles through barbed wire or any steel wire because it wraps all around the axels etc… trust me its not for the immigrants or thieves..lol (as you know)

Farmer: Well, maybe you need more cops?
Government: We are glad you see it our way. We will send you a revised tax bill for the increased services you have requested.
Farmer: Will you guarantee that thieves will then stay out of my stuff?
Government: No, that would be impossible to guarantee.
Farmer: Let me get this straight. You do not want me to defend myself or my things. In fact, you make it a crime for me to do that?
Government: Yes
Farmer: So, you will not commit to doing it for me either. This sends a clear message that crime pays, right?
Government: No, crime does not pay.
Farmer: Well, if they can steal my stuff and get away with it, won’t that create more criminals?
Government: Thank you for your request to build more prisons. We will send you a revised tax bill for that.
Farmer: Wait a minute! I don’t want more prisons
Government: Well, how do you expect us to protect you?
Farmer: Give me the right to defend my property and I won’t need you
Government: Sorry, we can’t allow that.

Interesting, I’ve been having the same problem here in the US on my property amongst the urban dwellers. It doesn’t even completely surround, just used as a tripwire in the dark!

News like this doesn’t surprise me at all. I read a story in the newspaper, a few years ago, about a barking dog incident, at about two in the morning. A dog, out in the backyard, wouldn’t stop barking, and the next door neighbor, a man, got agitated, and went out into his backyard and started barking like a dog. The dog’s owner called the cops, and they arrived shortly, and the man who was barking became extremely upset that they were interrogating him, claiming that they were violating his first amendment rights.
The cops then arrested him, took him to jail and charged him with disturbing the peace. He appeared in court, and the judge sentence him to psychiatric evaluation and community service work. The psychiatrist prescribed antidepressants for the man, for excercising his first amendment rights.

Better take the fence down like your’e told.
And then lye it on the ground and cover it with a small amount of soil.
Then get some planks, and drive some dirty big nails through them and lye them on the ground with the spikes pointing up, and cover with soil.
Next step is the exciting part. You have to be patient and check your new friends each day for large amounts of blood. When that day arrives, and you find large amounts of blood, you can then go to the fridge and grab a cold one. Kick back and enjoy your beer.
Then put a shovel in you car and each time you go out, look for someone with a limp. Then feel free to approach the person with your shovel and ask them if they need to borrow it.
You could even ask them if they would like a cold beer.
This behaviour wont return the stuff that has already been stolen but it will make you feel good.

This story is almost complete pony. In the UK you have every right to put up barbed wire on your own property. The only stipulation is that it must not pose a danger to casual walkers on adjacent land/footpaths. As allotments are parcels of land within a field and with shared borders on all sides then there is no way the gardener could arrange his barbed wire to not pose a threat to a casual walker/other gardener. he has no ‘border’ to secure. Further, he has no right to string barbed wire across his allotment as it isn’t ‘his’, it’s just ground he has the right to grow fruit & veg on – he can’t even sell his produce; these allotments are strictly non-commercial.
If he decides to string barbed wire INSIDE his own garden or on top his own very high wall then no one cares.

Oh, let the criminal continue to do crime while the victim can’t protect his own property. If I were this individual I would set up cameras, running a monitor into my home easily viewable. When that thief and anyone else including police come and touch my property, including the barbed wire. I would open fire and kill every last one of them sons of bitches then use their decaying bodies as fertilizer for my crops.

That’s what fences are for, to keep thieves out. Sometimes you gotta make it a little more extreme if you keep getting ripped off. This is just a way to force him to eat shitty genetically modified produce instead of his own good organic crops. Get a clue man, why are you defending the government establishment?

Build a high wall – something they can’t trip over, something that won’t allow crawling under. That way, if they hurt themselves it’ll be by smacking into the damn thing. Maybe if they do it enough times and hard enough each time, they’ll be too tuckered to file litigation.

Thieves cut through steel locks on the shed. Thieves will just snip the wire. Electronic locks is probably the way to go and motion detectors.

its a sad day when we have to even think of things like electronic locks when the real way to go would be a remington 870 pump, but of course the britts are too intelectual for that, they would be better off appologizing for having a garden in the first place and then laying down infront of a bus, god help them when the round us all up, at least we ignorant yanks wont have to have “drop guns” used on our bodies.
