  • Georgia’s last Russian-language TV channel off air

Georgia has closed its last remaining Russian-language television channel, RTVi, after it broadcast an interview with the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov. The move was reported on Monday by Russian radio channel Ekho Moskvy, an affiliate of RTVi.

“The Union of Cable Television of Georgia has informed RTVi management that it will temporarily stop the operation of this channel in the country and suggested suspending the broadcasting agreement,” the radio station newscaster said.

The Chief Editor of Ekho Moskvy, Aleksey Venediktov, called the closure of channels and the ban on free access to other media an attempt “to conceal the truth from its citizens and to save face”. “Only authoritarian and totalitarian leaders are afraid of independent and professional media,” Venediktov was quoted as saying.

media portrays Putin as a madman…truth of the matter is, he’s too restrained!

I would have marched the troops the additional 20 miles to the capital, annexed Georgia…put a 10 million dollar bounty of Suckasvilli’s head…and then hanged the bastard in the town square!

After that, I’d whip my johnson out in front of Cuntaleeza Rice.

This has “BUSH” written ALL OVER IT! WWIV! Thanks Dickhead!

Isn’t it nice to know that while people in the US are starving to death and couldn’t get anything to eat in the arena’s in Katrina for several days, and congress had to debate for many weeks about whther to give the guys in the Katrina disater any relief, yet the Gerogian murderers got a whole ship load full of food and supplies the next day after they caused this slaughter and destruction.

Then to add insult to injury McShame is announcing that we need to give sackashtt at least another billion dollars to start with.

According to McShame we’re all Gerogians, but I’m not. Sound like the guys in Katrina would have been far better off if they lived in Georgia.

Maybe we should all move to Georgia so McShame can give us more money, food water and supplies.

I think the US and Georgia needs a good ass kicking, even though I’m against this and many other americans are as well.

It sounds like Russia is more on our side than our own government and both of our presidential candidates.

One more thing. It sounds like we’re setting up Ukraine and Poland to get their butts kicked. Heck, they keep bragging about their agreement to put up missle shields, (that the US is paying them for) and Russia even told Poland that kind of talk could get em nuked. If I were Poland I’d either move or tell my government not to do business with Bush because it’s likely to get us killed.

@ Steve Vincent, I too noticed that aspect of this situation about the relief support. Most assuredly sickening.

As to the rest of what you have to say, I do not buy it for a moment. If you spent just a bit of time in the military you’d know the time it takes to set up a large contigent of troops and supplies as the Russians did. You should be highly critical of the media reports from both sides of this issue and trust in history to compare and contrast while also reading between the lines of what is reported. If someone is trying to effectively get you to see a certain view-point ask yourself why would this person like me to believe this is happening because of this. The Russians did use the age-old trick of issuing passports to members of another nation and then use force to ‘protect’ those citizens. Come on, anybody who has any knowledge of history can not fall for that old Nazi trick. Maybe people should read Clauswictz Theory of War to familiarize themselves with the European concept of war.

As far as Eastern European countries needing help and asking the U.S. for help it is natural after all the propaganda against the U.S. was so strong for so many years when every citizen in those countries feared the appearance of black cars in the middle of the night. I reccomend you speak to as many people who lived under a real dictatorship during those years and ask them about their friends’ disappearances.

Also do not forget you still have freedoms and powers to influence what goes on in our country and what policies are implemented. These are the very same Cold War tactics both sides are using. Strong threats reguarding other countries.
