TBILISI, April 9 (RIA Novosti) – A Georgian presidential spokesman dismissed on Thursday allegations that President Mikheil Saakashvili had planned a terrorist act in which his wife would die to ensure he won January 2008 elections.

Sulkhan Molashvili, the former head of the Georgian State Audit Chamber, was quoted by the dni.ru news website as saying that, “He was ready to sacrifice his wife in order to guarantee victory at the elections.”

He said Saakashvili had worked out the plan with the country’s Special Forces. “He is ready to do anything to maintain power,” he added.
