Glenn Beck’s Lame Attempt to “Debunk” FEMA Camps

Disinfo operative Glenn Beck’s shabby and comical attempt to “debunk” FEMA camps was theater of the absurd at its most revealing. Recall Beck a few weeks ago trying to bait us with a promise to investigate the camps. He came off as alarmed over the prospect of internment camps and this set the hook. Stay tuned, folks, he teased, we’ll get to the bottom of this.
Glenn Beck, the seasoned operative, never intended a serious exposé. He planned to make those of us who know FEMA camps exist look like fools and churls. In order to do this he enlisted the retread James Meigs, editor-in-chief of the washed-up Hearst publication, Popular Mechanics. Back in 2005, Meigs spearheaded an effort to debunk the 9/11 truth movement with a Popular Mechanic cover story. Meigs and his crew of supposed debunkers approached the science of 9/11 very selectively and were more interested in ad hominem attacks leveled against researchers. Meigs concluded his diatribe by stating that “those who peddle fantasies that this country encouraged, permitted or actually carried out the attacks are libeling the truth — and disgracing the memories of the thousands who died that day.”
Meigs turned his “fact checking” (through omission) into a book — Debunking 9/11 Myths: Why Conspiracy Theories Can’t Stand Up to the Facts. It was published by Hearst, the media corporation famous for its association with the expression “yellow journalism.” Hearst told the illustrationist Frederic Remington during the Spanish-American War: “You furnish the pictures and I’ll furnish the war.” Nothing much as changed since 1895.
In the video here, Beck says Meigs heads up the “independent group” he assigned the task of debunking the conspiracy nuts who believe in the existence of FEMA camps. As evidence the nutters are way out in left field, Meigs dissects a widely discredited video of a Beech Grove, Indiana, Amtrak facility filmed by the Indianapolis attorney Linda Thompson.
You may recall Thompson’s earlier video about the government siege and subsequent incineration of the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas. She made a series of absurd claims about the siege, for instance insisting the BATF and FBI used flame throwers mounted on tanks against the Davidians. It didn’t take long for Soldier of Fortune Magazine to discredit Thompson’s accusations. She mysteriously vanished into the ether after people began asking if she might be a government operative.
Meigs and Beck say nothing about this. “This footage, which appears in multiple videos on YouTube, is from a ‘documentary’ filmed 15 years ago,” explains Beck’s Fox News web page. “Yet today, it’s been viewed nearly 1.5 million times online. The woman who made the video, Linda Thompson, was one of the pioneers of the militia movement in the United States — except she was so extreme, she embarrassed even her fellow militants. Far from a death camp, Beech Grove is the primary maintenance facility for Amtrak’s long-distance trains, overhauling and repairing approximately 700 passenger cars a year. Company officials, who’ve heard these theories for years, welcomed our film crew, and the superintendent of the facility showed us anything we wanted to see.”
Beck does not bother to mention the fact serious FEMA camp researchers discarded the video years ago. Meigs and Beck are more interested in linking the video to Thompson and the “militia movement” (created as a scary bogeyman by the corporate media in the 1990s) and connecting that up with the ugly specter of the Timothy McVeigh — the same McVeigh photographed at Camp Grafton, North Dakota (the base specializes in demolitions training) in 1993, a mere 18 months before the Oklahoma City bombing. The FBI insisted he was not in the military at the time.
In the second installment of this “definitive debunking,” Beck and his sidekick Meigs show us a satellite photo of a real concentration camp the conspiracy theorists supposedly claim is a FEMA camp. As Alex Jones called it when the photo was used as a teaser at the close of the first installment the previous evening, the camp is located in North Korea (because only communists operate concentration camps, never mind the forcible relocation and internment of approximately 110,000 Japanese nationals and Japanese Americans by Roosevelt during World War 2, a criminal act lavishly defended by the neocon darling Michelle Malkin, a regular on Fox News).
After “debunking” Camp Grayling, Michigan, where there is a mock camp complete with barbed wire and watch towers for National Guard training, Beck and Meigs begin talking about how the conspiracy theorists are out of touch with reality and refuse to accept the obvious truth there are no camps and our loving government would never do such a thing, not like the evil communists in North Korea (or the evil mullahs in Iran, although our intrepid investigators do not mention the latter).
As expected, Beck’s long awaited “debunking” does not bother to cover more substantial territory and instead relies on old discredited video footage and photos that look good on television.
Beck and his protégé completely ignore solid and irrefutable evidence that does not look good on television and might prompt bored viewers to switch over to the Comedy Channel or actually turn off the idiot tube and read a book.
No mention of the contract awarded in January of 2006 to Kellogg, Brown and Root, a subsidiary of Halliburton, to build “temporary detention and processing capabilities to augment existing ICE (Immigration Customs Enforcement) Detention and Removal Operations (DRO) Program facilities in the event of an emergency influx of immigrants into the U.S., or to support the rapid development of new programs,” (emphasis added) according to Fox News.
It was said Rex-84, short for Readiness Exercise 1984, was also about rounding up and detaining illegal immigrants. “The Rex 84 Program was originally established on the reasoning that if a ‘mass exodus’ of illegal aliens crossed the Mexican/US border, they would be quickly rounded up and detained in detention centers by FEMA,” notes Allen L Roland.
In fact, Rex-84 Alpha Explan (as it was also known) was cooked up by FEMA and 34 other federal civil departments and agencies (with a few NATO nations to boot) for the express purpose of detaining large numbers of American citizens. “The exercise anticipated civil disturbances, major demonstrations and strikes that would affect continuity of government and/or resource mobilization. To fight subversive activities, there was authorization for the military to implement government ordered movements of civilian populations at state and regional levels, the arrest of certain unidentified segments of the population, and the imposition of martial law,” Diana Reynolds writes (The Rise of the National Security State: FEMA and the NSC).
No mention of master military contingency plan Operation Garden Plot developed in response to the civil disorders of the 1960s and still operational under the control of the U.S. Northern Command. Garden plot was last activated (as Noble Eagle) to provide military assistance to civil authorities following September 11, 2001. The Pentagon also activated it to restore order during the 1992 Los Angeles Riots. Operation Garden Plot is “the program to control the population.”

Rex 84, Operation Garden Plot and its sister program Operation Cable Splicer were not enough for the control freaks in government, so in May, 2007, George Bush signed executive new orders NSDP51 (also known as PDD 51) and HSDP20 to replace Rex 84. Bush’s orders established that the executive would take over all state and local governments during a national state of emergency.
More recently the National Emergency Centers Act or HR 645 was introduced in Congress. It mandates the establishment of “national emergency centers” to be located on military installations for the purpose of to providing “temporary housing, medical, and humanitarian assistance to individuals and families dislocated due to an emergency or major disaster,” according to the bill (see Paul Joseph Watson: New Legislation Authorizes FEMA Camps In U.S.). “Ominously, the bill also states that the camps can be used to ‘meet other appropriate needs, as determined by the Secretary of Homeland Security,’ an open ended mandate which many fear could mean the forced detention of American citizens in the event of widespread rioting after a national emergency or total economic collapse,” writes Watson.
None of this was mentioned by Beck or Meigs.
Or did they mention the long list of executive orders establishing draconian mechanisms for martial law and detention and work camps, all in violation of Article 4 Section 4 of the United States Constitution (see Establishing martial law in the United States).
Finally, Beck and Meigs don’t want you to know about and would certainly never cover the U.S. Army’s “Civilian Inmate Labor Program” under Army Regulation 210–35.
Maybe in the future Glenn Beck will commission another investigation into the existence of not only FEMA camps but the plans formulated by government to impose martial law in the United States.
I’m not going to hold my breath in the meantime.

It would be great to see Alex Jones on Glenn Beck’s show. I have never watched Beck’s show before and, after watching this, I don’t plan on tuning in anytime soon.

It would be great to see the forces align, but it would not fit Mr Becks agenda, and that is to coop Mr Jones folks as much as posible and redirect their attention according to a world media agenda, i listen as local announcers on woai joe pags goes after Mr Jones as a Conspricy theorist run amuck, so happens they Mr Beck and Joe Pags from woai are good friends, I hope and pray they will learn to be Patriots and put Media ratings aside and do whats right……..God Bless America.

Beck never claimed to do the news, his intro says something to the effect of… crossing the line between entertainment and enlightenment. Never once does it say he’s a credible news person, and stories like this, just prove it, at least to me.

Becks website for the tea party wants you sign up, and they dont want signs on the hallowed ground of the alamo, and your not suposed to have separate agendas there, like what “ARREST THE BANKERS” folks this just isnt about tax law changes…they might be willing to give us that anway now, like a fair tax , in order to get away with the crimes they have committed…..

I’ve visited the Alamo. They don’t want you to speak loudly either to demonstrate reverence and respect with what happened there. That’s the park rules. So I would imagine signs are the same. But I don’t see how they could even use a loud speaker either.

The one thing that is obvious to me is that FEMA will use existing structure retrofitted to serve their needs. Look at what the police did in NYC with the old dilapidated warehouse to house arrested protesters.
And are you really going to tell me that those prison grade turnstiles are needed for security at a train repair depot? Gimme a break.

i lived 1 mile from the Beechgrove , Indpls Amtrak facility. I recently had to go by there. Still low crime area and no activity to see in the way of this site, well known to us in Indy…was a huge provider of jobs, now i think the people who were employed there would love to have a call back to work…NOT HAPPENING. I don’t know why the mayor asked to refurbish this facility.security itself shouldn’t be a problem..the Beech Grove city police sits directly along side this facility. One video of one suspicious place is not the point. Look at all the laws passed that include operations directly concerning FEMA facilities…and most are open ended so it will be to the Govt’s discretion how to best utilize them..and can hold u.s. citizens. Beck just joined in the mis-info that is our mainstream media. HR645, National emergency act..military bases. check out the language…..

what about the federal reserve? is it really federal? how about I start handing out money made from the special soil around my house and we’ll call it the michael reserve, that would be the same thing, then i get the government to endorse it and protect it from counterfeiting the meanwhile I am selling everyone my special soil at a loan rated price, next I get the government to let me or one of the boys of the michael reserve set the interest rates for the whole shebang and allow me to regulate soil policys, what do I do when I personally or one of my boys need soil? There is only one problem with this story: I still haven’t seen any camps. Doing research on the net, I can read lots of articles about the potentiality of there being FEMA camps, some articles even have “pictures” which, at best, equate to pictures of UFOs, i.e. yeah, there is something there, but what is it, exactly? Now, that being said, I will readily agree that the federistas have set up the “legal” justification for FEMA camps, and may have even run training exercises on stuffing and maintaining such things, but I just haven’t seen any camps. Now, historically, the “internment” (read:concentration) camps that the Japanese-Americans were illegally forced into during WW2 were built literally overnight. The Army just grabbed a couple of trucks full of concertina wire and made a perimeter around an area of California desert. The buildings were put up nearly overnight and were not built with creature comforts in mind, nor with any sense of humanity, i.e. no separate quarters for families, no concern for children, etc. That stuff came a little later, and was built by the prisoners themselves. I am a little skeptical of the whole FEMA concentration camp idea, because it would be unnecessary. There is enough space in and around most military establishments, and there are enough Army Forts/Camps, Air Force Bases, and Navy Bases to hold the initial wave of unlucky bastards tagged by the Federistas, who would be put to work building corrals and such for subsequent waves.
The idea that they are hidden from public view lest the average American get all prissy about it is giving the somnambulent American Public way too much credit. Auswitch, Treblinka, Dachau et al were not hidden because they didn’t have to be. The Nazis didn’t put a sign up announcing “Nazi Death Camp! Next 5 Km”, instead they made it look like a “work camp” (”Arbeit Mach Frei”) so the cowed German populace could tell themselves that the people in the camp were simply being forced to work, not die, and gee, wasn’t work good for you?
The important point to Kurt Nimmo’s article and Alex Jone’s articles as well, is the fact that, even after the debacle of WW2 Internment Camps, the Federistas are setting themselves up to do it again, NOT that any camps actually exist.

Third Party, Your response was somewhat , umm, nonsensical, netx time try using complete sentences. As far as your vids are concerned, vids of what? You have vids of fences and buildings, I assume, but that is proof of nothing, except a bunch of fences and buildings. My research is weak? My research involves what i saw on the net after doing a google search as recommended by Alex Jones. I saw pictures of roads (bunches of those) some trees, some buildings, a couple of people who might be soldiers, but then again, I couldn’t tell if they were or not, there was no unit emblems or rank displayed, so, all i can tell is that they are some guys standing around in green fatigues.
Third Party, if you really, really, really have some sort of knowledge of these camps, why don’t you get the lat and long and get an satellite view of them via google-earth and then we can discuss what it might or might not be. The point is, as long as you keep ballyhooing “secret FEMA concentration camps” with no more proof than, “Oh, but I got vids!”, Water Carriers like Glenn Beck and complete morons like that Meigs douchebag are going to continue to make you look like frothing nut cases. My point was, get off the freaking physicality of the camps and onto the fact that the legality is being set in place to repeat 1941. Stop screaming about your fricking pictures and make the Glenn Becks of the world answer a simple question: have internment camps in America happened before? And if they have happened before, what is to keep them from happening again?

After a recent funeral and honerary dinner of a deceased family member I tossed arround the subject, Sadly the consensus was that these young soldiers will blindly follow orders to enforce martial law, conviscate weapons and participate in civilian imprisonment. I too was disappointed as a number of folks had picked up his airing of the fact that he could not debunk these camps. He seems to do a quick about face. One also must wonder if he was originally legitimate and was overruled by his producer?
I for one was really starting to listen to him and talk him up to others. Not now.
For those of us who really do not know but keep an open mind, it seems now the ball is in the Jones court. Can you provide perhaps a one pager of some links of what are considered authentic sites and any youtube video links. What is the evidence…lets us make this simple.

Future use, we don’t know. However, like somebody pointed out, any building or structure can be converted to something else, and new ones can be built quickly.
However the structures, camps whatever, DO EXIST today, with already heavy security implementation.. And everybody agrees that detention is lawful in US.

I have just begun getting involved with Alex Jones and his message. I also watch Fox News, CNN, and NBC as I do not box myself into one line of thinking. Seems to me that Alex Jones and Glenn Beck should team up. Both have nearly the same message, and battering each other just detracts from getting that message out.
This government is greedier than AIG, and is looking not just for our money but to control our lives and turn our beautiful country into a quasi-police state. Of this, I am sure. We need a unified message, and Glenn Beck would be better to have as an ally not an enemy.

This is one of the most obscene pieces of journalism that i’ve ever had the misfortune of witnessing and I never even made it to the second clip. Beck’s contempt for journalism is extremely repulsing, as he reveals his biases almost instantly in the clip. There is no way that a rational person could absorb this as sincere, trustworthy news. The inclusion of Meigs as an “independent investigator” is a deeper atrocity; this piece is offending both sides of the table. For those who are not blinded by this journalistic ignorance, they will be offended immediately. For those of you who are actually swallowing this, you have just had your intelligence insulted by FOX News, for the XXXXXXXth time. To suggest Meigs is somehow an authority on… anything is a shady, and extremely transparent setup. If Beck is so confident in Mr. Meigs’ credentials, perhaps he should do an on-air analysis of Charles Goyette’s interview with Popular Mechanics stableboy, Davin Coburn. How would Mr. Beck attempt to explain Coburn’s complete inability to answer even the most basic questions regarding the “air-tight” case for debunking, as proposed by a very rational Charles Goyette? It is obviously not the last word in debunking if Coburn is not even remotely capable of stating a logical case. This, in my opinion, constitutes real news. Why not get to the bottom of Coburn’s apologist ways for the official story, and see where that leads? If this man is being touted by Beck as the one who destroyed “9/11 conspiracies”, shouldn’t it set off alarm bells when said man’s crony can’t even begin to justify his conclusions. That particular interview achieved something that would elude many skilled dramatists: a simultaneous feeling of repulsion, hilarity, sadness, insanity.. I guess reality is stranger than fiction, yet again. Anyway, this is nothing unusual for news stations I realize, just for some reason having to observe Beck’s contempt for humanity and the slimy know-it-all/know-nothing Meigs motivated me to write. How much longer must the population be treated in this way by the drooling buffoons of the mainstream media? For those who are skeptical consider this: if there is even the slightest possibility that these issues are true, wouldn’t you want to be sure by having an absolutely independent investigation by people whose interests are not conflicted with the guilty parties? And to have said investigation run indefinitely while examining the most obscure minutiae thoroughly and with full public disclosure? It is this lack of respect for the fundamentals of justice that fuels the 9/11 truth movement, and ensures that this issue is never going away. Long live justice.

Beck’s report was shallow and left one waning for more information. I’m not saying these FEMA “concentration” camps are real–but I have little trust for the intent of government. And I certainly was not satisfied by Beck’s “report” discrediting the “charge”.
You gotta remember Alex is independent, but Beck is on a network payroll–and is subject to their dictates and agenda. So, at this point, Beck did little to debunk the claim of “concentration camp” status.
I’d love to see Alex get on Beck’s program and offer a counter or provide his documentation. But I’m afraid Beck is probably more interested in heralding his master’s agenda–not the truth. So it would be more likely for me to find Charlie Brown’s Great Pumpkin than seeing Alex on Beck’s program.
