The seven graphs that dispel alarmist claims about climate change

    Paul Joseph Watson
    Prison Planet
    Friday, July 18, 2008

The world is cooling, sea levels are falling, ice is spreading, there are fewer extreme weather events, and it was hotter 1000 years ago, yet the myth of global warming is providing governments the excuse to micromanage every aspect of our lives, with Al Gore now openly calling for a carbon tax on the energy we use.

Following the end of the Sun’s most active period in over 11,000 years, the last 10 years have displayed a clear cooling trend as temperatures post-1998 leveled out and are now plummeting.

But such figures won’t deter the agenda of control freaks like Al Gore, who last night publicly called for a carbon tax to be imposed on the use of fossil fuels at a time when even middle class families are struggling to pay the bills as a result of a crippled economy, soaring oil prices and inflation.

    (ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW)

Andrew Bolt of the Australian Sun-Herald has put together a series of graphs based on numbers from a plethora of scientific bodies to prove that the most alarmist claims about climate change are not only unproven, but in fact the complete opposite of what man-made global warming advocates proclaim is now being observed.

“That’s why 31,000 other scientists, including world figures such as physicist Prof Freeman Dyson, atmospheric physicist Prof Richard Lindzen and climate scientist Prof Fred Singer, issued a joint letter last month warning governments not to jump on board the global warming bandwagon,” writes Bolt.

“There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the earth’s climate.”

That’s why Ivar Glaever, who won a Nobel Prize for Physics, this month declared “I am a sceptic”, because “we don’t really know what the actual effect on the climate is”.

And it’s why the American Physical Society this month said “there is a considerable presence within the scientific community of people who do not agree with the (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) conclusion that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are very probably likely to be primarily responsible for the global warming that has occurred since the Industrial Revolution.”

The first graph, obtained from the Hadley Centre of Britain’s Meteorological Office, shows how temperatures dropped, leveled off, and are now displaying a clear cooling trend, since their 1998 peak which was caused by the “El Nino” weather phenomenon, which is completely natural and has nothing to do with CO2 emissions.

The figures mesh with anecdotal evidence of a cooling pattern – China recently experienced its coldest winter in 100 years while northeast America was hit by record snow levels and Britain suffered its coldest April in decades as late-blooming daffodils were pounded with hail and snow on an almost daily basis. The British summer has also left many yearning for global warming, with temperatures in June and July rarely struggling to get over 16 degrees and on one occasion even dropping as low as 9 degrees in the middle of the afternoon.

A common claim of behalf of Al Gore and the Church of Environmentalism, and one vividly portrayed in the Hollywood movie The Day After Tomorrow, is a predicted catastrophic rise in sea levels as a result of global warming.

In actual fact, figures from the Colorado Centre For Astrodynamics Research show that global sea levels, after having risen since 2000, have been falling significantly over the last 2 years.

In addition, according to the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, sea ice has grown rapidly in that same time frame and there is now more ice in the world than usually observed.

Another common cry from the alarmists is the contention that global warming is causing extreme weather events. Despite there having been far more violent and devastating weather events before the post World War 2 rise in CO2 levels, every flood, hurricane, tornado or cyclone is blamed on human-induced climate change.

The facts tell a different story. According to the American Meteorological Society, global warming hasn’t given us more cyclones, hurricanes, or tornados.

Furthermore, scaremongering about droughts attributed the global warming is disproved by the fact that levels of rainfall have increased.

Hysterical phony environmentalists like to imagine that the world has never been hotter, despite the fact that the planet has violently swung between extremes of temperature for eons.

New figures from the US National Council for Air and Stream Improvement debunk the IPCC’s notoriously controversial “hockey stick” graph and illustrate that the earth was a warmer place 1000 years ago. During such times, farmers in Greenland grew crops and even cultivated vineyards on a land mass that is now over 80% ice covered.

Despite evidence pouring in that the planet has naturally turned course and now embarked on a cooling trend, wild rhetoric, fearmongering, lecturing and bullying about the necessity for us to accept intrusions into our rights of mobility, privacy and behavior in the interests of saving the earth is at an all time high.

Global corporations and governments have joined forces to launch a united propaganda assault about how we must turn “green” while all the real environmental crises – deforestation, GM crops, chemtrails, genetic splicing, and cancer-causing cellphone tower radiation – are completely ignored.

    1. Great199 Says:

I told my friend the day Gore won the nobel prize that the only thing to come of this will be more taxes for us to pay. More laws that will hurt the average man and wont touch big corporations. It will cost us more for cars that dont get enough miles per gallon. And what do you know, gas will be more if these psychos get their way. We have been duped by the entire Green/Global initiative. They just want to control us. If you dont fall in line then you must not care about your planet right. People like Gore never have good intentions. There are always ulterior motives. Those being of course, money, and power.

    2. Heimlich Says:

Gore is a FRAUD. A con artist. Why do people like this not go to jail?

    3. EMILY Says:

I Know you guys would be up for the challenge. I would see if you can debate him … any where, any time, too … if not on your show, maybe on Nat’l television … I would invite the Nobel Prize winning Scientist that you sited in this article to give Testimony to the facts WITH you, too!!! DON’T STOP, BECAUSE WE CAN’T STOP, AND WE WON’T STOP! You guys always inspire me, my husband, and my friends. Keep the Fact Finding Coming! We have all been brainwashed since infancy. It’s Time that we all Unlearn and Relearn on our Own.

Congratulations on a great article that can unlock pathways to realizing many points of the Matrix are just false, point blank, and that Controls on Life are Wrong.

Anyway, Keep Going! YOU ARE MUCH NEEDED!

    4. nikoli Says:

Australias prime minister wants to carbon tax companys….

polluting companies must buy a permit to pollute….

well whats that going to do for climaite change…
well all it’s going to do is make the goverment more rich…

    5. Lyn UK Says:

A storming article from Watson. This one should be printed out and stuck on the noticeboards of schools and universities before challenging tha tax scam of ‘manmade global warming’ becomes a crime like Holocaust Denial.

    6. Rob Says:

Ok, I did Environmental Science at university, and of course climate change and atmospheric physics was covered a lot in my course. I agree with a lot of what you say, and I resent the issue becoming so political that the allowance for discussion on a scientific basis is almost nil. The graphs are quite convincing, but I feel I have to stand up for ‘Environmentalists’ as a whole here.

Many of my lecturers and fellow classmates are well aware of the ‘medieval warm period’, which was warmer than now, and the ‘little ice age’, which saw the River Thames freeze over! We are also well aware of CO2 making up less than a percent of Earth’s atmosphere, and that we account for only 6% of the excess added every year! However, please don’t forget that water vapour is a major greenhouse gas as well, and although equally as natural as CO2, it is also produced by man artificially, eg cars and industry, and accounts for a far higher percentage in the atmosphere.

It must also be remembered that the oceans are storing CO2 for us at the moment in deep ocean currents, and we are seeing only a fraction of what we release enter the atmosphere. This CO2 will re-emerge however in the future, so to ignore this seems irresponsible.

In regards to the sea-ice question, it must be remembered that the systems that govern sea-ice vary with which pole you’re looking at. Antarctica is surrounded my ocean, which allows a ring of wind to form around the continent, which in turn forms a atmospheric barrier between Antarctica and the rest of the world, and any warming that’s seen nearer the equator isn’t well represented at the south pole. Therefore, sea-ice can extend here whilst warming still occurs across the rest of the globe. The arctic however does respond quickly. I therefore ask whether there is a major difference between sea ice extent between the poles, and for you to not just look at global sea-ice, which is an average of both and may well show an increase.

And finally, please don’t condescend all Environmentalists as you do. Most just want to improve our lives, and they care about many more things than just climate. Ecosystems and wildlife suffer constantly from direct human interference for example, and your language in this article seems to want to ridicule those who protest against a variety of environmental issues.

    7. Chuck Says:

If global warming exists or not, THEY are running around like fat little rats telling us that “humans” are causing global warming so that they can justify “the final solution.”

To THEM we are nothing more than a resource. A commodity. To be manipulated, utilized, absorbed of capital, and tossed into the landfill with all the other trash. To THEM we are the same as a pork belly, or a bushel of corn, a barrel of oil, or a soldier to be sacrificed on the steps of the temple of Jabhulon.

    8. Gregory Fegel Says:

      Rob:
I did not find Paul J. Watson’s article to be in the least ‘antienvironmentalist’. He does not attack environmentalists in any way, shape or form. Having a sense of reality, common sense, and some objectivity is not ‘antienvironmentalist’.

Al Gore, who lives in a 10,000 square foot mansion, rides travels by limo and Lear jet, and has fathered four children, is not someone that I would call an environmentalist. I deserve the Nobel Prize four times as much as Al Gore, because I NEVER HAD any children!

Few people are as ‘environmentalist’ as I am. I despise air pollution so much that I would favor a law that prohibits someone from smoking in their own yard if it drifts next door and disturbs the neighbors. (I’m allergic to nicotine, so keep your poison to yourself!) I despise polluting industry so much that I would dance a jig if most of it were shut down to protect the environment. And I ENJOY living simply.

I knew for a fact that Global Warming was a fraud the first time that I heard about it. Why and how did I know that? Because I had already been researching global climatology for more than a decade before the Global Warming hysteria developed.

    9. Gregory Fegel Says:

The Global Warming hoax provides a means for political
manipulators to use the cover of ‘environmentalism’ to promote an agenda for increased corporate and elitist dominance throughout the world. The implementation of ‘Carbon Trading’ schemes, in which nations, companies, and even individual citizens will be allowed a limited number of ‘carbon credits’, will legitimize the dominance of developed counties over developing countries, of powerful corporations over emerging companies, and of wealthy individuals over their underprivileged countrymen.

In the ‘Carbon Trading’ scheme, industries and nations are to be awarded with ‘carbon credits’ based on their past history of greenhouse gas emissions; this means that the corporations and nations that already produce the most greenhouse gasses will be given permission to continue doing business as usual. The ‘carbon credit’ scheme will promote monopolism and stifle competition because fledgeling companies will not be permitted to increase their ‘carbon footprint’ in an effort to compete with established companies unless they purchase the right to
do so in the form of ‘carbon credits’ from an established company. A new form of business that will ‘broker’ the transfer of ‘carbon credits’ has already been created, and the Global Warming cheerleader Al Gore has shrewdly invested heavily in it. Many people in developing nations oppose the imposition of an international ‘carbon credits’ scheme, because they know that the developing nations will inevitably be allowed a paucity of ‘carbon credits’, while the developed nations recieve the lion’s share.

The imposition of ‘carbon credits’ on individual citizens will not mean that Al Gore and Nelson Rockefeller will be limited by law to riding in a Prius instead of a limo or to living in a 800 square foot budget apartment instead of a palatial mansion. In the Brave New World of ‘carbon credits’, some citizens will continue to be more ‘equal’ than others. Much more ‘equal’. People of wealth, power, and privilege already recieve more benefits and allowances that do the poor and middle classes, and the arbitrary imposition of ‘carbon taxes’ will simply make that sitiutaion worse than it is already.

In India, where there is a great deal of public opposition to the idea of a ‘Carbon Trading’ system, Tata Motors has developed a new type of fuel efficient car that is making all the other auto manufacturers throughout the world cringe in fear of the competition from TaTa. The four-door, four passenger Tata Nano sedan has a purchase price of $2300.00 in U.S. dollars and it gets 51 mpg town and 61 mpg highway. Plus, next year Tata plans to release a newer version of the Tata that runs on compressed air, traveling 125 miles on a compressed air ‘fill
up’ that costs only $3 in electricity to produce. The compressed air version of the Tata Nano will go up to 65 mph and cost $2300.00, just like the gasoline-fueled version. What the development of the Tata Nano demonstrates is that governments don’t need to impose ‘Carbon Trading’ and ‘carbon credits’ to induce industry to produce products that are ‘green’ or that have a low ‘carbon footprint’.

Just like the bogus “threat of Global Islamic Terrorism,” Global Warming is yet another manufactured scam to enable the government and the corporations to screw us. Don’t buy their bullshit.

    10. natteringnaybob Says:

There’s a lot about this site I like. But your venomous, reactionary stance on climate change makes you look stupid. You can never convince me that pumping poison into the atmosphere is not a bad thing. We simply have to take better care of our planet.

A quick story. For years I used to enjoy going to our state fair for the sole purpose of arguing with the guy at the John Birch Society booth. After the Soviet Union fell I went back to the booth and asked the guy there who the society’s boogeyman was going to be now that the communists were gone. He just smiled and said “environmentalists.”

      Hope you get my point.

    11. George Hayduke Says:

Great essay! While gubbermints shroud weather warfare in a veil of secrecy, and while it is openly admitted that weather modification was employed as early as during the Vietnam conflict and will be employed by China during the Olympics, the official theory of global warming due to the actions of the common man continues to be the alleged cause of gubbermint campaigns for further centralization of control and further taxation.

In my opinion, until the extent of gubbermint weather modification is exposed, one should trust nothing the gubbermint says about weather modification due to the actions of the commoner.

I would also suggest attempting to embrace the apparently righteous motives of environmentalists. In other words, don’t toss the baby due when disposing of soiled diapers.

Like the peace movement, the green movement is huge and comprised of people willing to take a stand on certain issues. Like the peace movement, the green movement has been infiltrated and real issues have been marginalized: Pollution that ensures that everything alive today has plastic in it, perpetual fallout from atmospheric nuclear weaponry testing that has ensured that every creature alive today has strontium in it, heavy metals in the water, air and soil, and ground level smog, so apparent in many cities SHOULD be the foci.

The anti-global warming movement amounts to a neurolinguistic programming campaign that must be countered and foiled so that True environmentalism can be employed to shape policies that will indeed improve the human condition.

    12. Chris Says:

“Venomous reactionary stance?” There are a plethora of facts in this piece that nattingnaybob could debate if global warming were not a myth akin to the tooth fairy; yet, he choses to mindlessly blast epithets at the author. This is typical of the greenhouse gas zealots who love to ignore rational arguments and just call their opponents names. Sounds like the Catholic church during the inquisition! What is even worse is the intellectual bankruptcy shown in this comment. The commenter compares carbon dioxide emissions to “pumping poison into the atmosphere.” Hello, you and every moving creature on this earth pumps THIS SAME “POISON” into the atmosphere. In fact, if you go and check your data you will find this poison was in much, much greater concentration back at the time of the dinosaurs. “How dare those dinosaurs breath such poison into the atmosphere? It is a good thing that meteor killed them off!” would probably be your retort. I have a suggestion for the environmentalist wackos out there who believe the fairy tale of global warming–go study logic and the scientific method. Then come back and attempt to post an intelligent response.

    13. Rob Says:

      Gregory Fegel:
My comment was based on quotes such as: ‘Hysterical phony environmentalists’ and ‘Al Gore and the Church of Environmentalism’…

Granted, Paul Watson comments on the other issues of Environemntal protection at the end of his article. However, I feel he must make the emphasis that these ‘hysterical phonies’ he refers to are a minority, a very small minority, and that most are level-headed people, who make their minds up based on facts, and its not their fault they are being given facts that are wrong or misleading. I’m sure most would read his article, see the data, and think again, but the snide comments placed within a general good piece of writing may actually prevent those who are open to the facts from taking it on board.

In other words, the message was very clear without any insults placed within the text, and its these very insults that are clouding the facts in the article.

    14. matt sherman Says:

Impeachment is needed for global change. The current administration is all about mis-information and distruction.

Get new leadership and we can find true direction. Most of the wrong information you read is created to confuse so they can continue to rape and plunder while you debate their stupid wrong information.

Stop getting caught in the spin.

    15. Wes Says:

Rob when you were “at university” which, by the way isn’t a complete sentence, you learned that “water vapour” is a green house gas. Do you know that water vapor leads to?????? yes that’s right clouds and when you have more cloud formation what do you have? Lower temps. If CO2 lead to more water vapor or vice versa you would see more clouds with leads to LESS temperature. So when the earth starts cooling because of the solar cycle you will see the Al Gore’s of the world shift gears and tell us stop pollutating mother earth with whatever it is you do “eat, breath, fornicate, drive, live, die” because you are killing the earth and we need to tax you because we will die in a new Ice Age.

    16. Lloyd Says:

That is either intentionally deceptive or the author is ignorant of what he is talking about. I went and looked at the so-called conclusive graphs and they are quite the opposite. I do not see data suggesting anything opposing the statements which describe and are agreed upon with quite a large amount of consensus in the scientific community. The graphs show “anomaly”, and departure from baseline/average values. Without statement in the paper about how the values were calculated or at least numerical reference values for means/baselines the graphs could mean anything. What a crock – I would think this site would attempt to be more truthful. And the polar bear lends no credence to the pdf. – somebody should tell Mr Watson to pull this article.

Please tell me you all are able to read graphs as well as an 8th grader and see what kind of bs this is.

    17. mathias Says:

In a way it look silly to me too but I don’t see how taxing gonna change anything exept making us poorer. I think a natural cycle is going on in the way that people really are buying alternative stuff like electric scooters, sunroofs etc just to get rid of their gasolin bill

    18. natteringnaybob Says:

      Chris,
You miss my point. I didn’t say I’m not open to empirical evidence that would prove or disprove climate change. What I object to is when people like me who merely want to take better care of our planet are all lumped in together as part of some goofy new world order conspiracy, or, to use your own term, referred to “environmentalist wackos.” (And you have to admit that that is a very common theme on this site). Put another way, to equate people concerned about our environment (however misquided according to you) to communists as the Birchers do is just plain stupid.

And by the way, your arguments would be more credible if not so strident. Chill.

    19. Nedc Says:

      Wes,

      “….River Thames freeze over….”

should have clued you in that Rob is from the UK, and his grammer is correct.

    20. Rob Says:

However Wes, did YOU know that when water vapour condenses and forms these clouds that have a cooling effect, it ALSO releases latent heat stored in it from when it first evaporated, which HEATS its surrounding atmosphere…

Granted, I’ll give you that human influence in this case is also low, but don’t question whether it’s a greenhouse gas, because it is…

    21. CB Says:

They want to make global warming tax the new currency of the new world order . We will have our euro, our ameros, our surs, but what will bind us all is our carbon tax. One ring to bind them, and one ring to rule them all.

    22. CB Says:

I started not trusting Gore once I found out that he and his daddy control one of the biggest coal mines in north America. He is a coal man. What does a coal man know about saving the planet? He is the one that helped pollute it in the first place. I don’t see him switching to a horse and carriage, and living off a farm somewhere with out touching a single piece of hydrocarbon product out there. Until I see him do that, I know he is a phony. His Live Planet Concert actually led to more carbon use, because everyone had to commute to his concerts, and he spent his time flying back and fourth across the world, burning up more fuel. It’s crazy.

In fact, I would assume that temperatures are getting hotter in certain areas due to chemtrails which they release silicon substance in the air to help reflect heat back to earth. Why, so they can encourage the whole global warming myth. Yes, ultimately I think that hydrocarbons do hurt the air by creating pollutions, which we breathe in day in and day out. But the technology is there already to get rid of them, and instead they are being ignored for stuff like wind power, which is another joke. They want to take over all of the free spaces with wind power mills. All will become privately owned to wind mill owners. Instead we can create better sun power technology, and get free power that way.

    23. Todd Says:

Gore is easily one of the ten biggest hypocrites on the planet, because his “carbon footprint” is FAR bigger than the average citizen he so desperately wants to tax and control: http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/st.....id=5072659

Americans everywhere need to tell Gore to go “Cheney” himself (http://www.whitehouse.org/news/2004/062504.asp).

    24. Derek Says:

What’s with ALL the stupid ads on this site! Should be called infomercials.com there’s a war on for your money!

    25. Gregory Fegel Says:

      Rob:
I have to agree with you that “Al Gore and the Church of Environmentalism” seems to attack environmentalism, which doesn’t deserve such an attack, rather than just simply attacking the huckster and opportunist Al Gore, who really does deserve to be attacked.

In context, “Hysterical phony environmentalists” seems to refer to those who have jumped on the Global Warming bandwagon without an understanding of the complexity of the issue, relying only on the dubious conclusions and ’spin’ that Al Gore, some scientists (How many scientists — who can say? But it certainly was never a ‘concensus’.) Undoubtedly there have been many politicians and scientists who, like Gore, took the Global Warming ball and ran with it, clear out of the stadium of demonstrable reality, or what we call ‘credible science’.

It has long been known that plants thrive on CO2; in fact they MUST HAVE IT to survive. This fact is so well known that some commercial nurseries actually pump CO2 into their greenhouses to promote plant growth. Many studies and surveys have shown that plant growth worldwide has increased dramatically with the rise in atmospheric CO2, and that animal life and diversity has benefitted from that plant growth.

      http://www.oism.org/pproject/S.....lide21.png

Global Warming is a hoax. The winter of 2008 was the coldest on record worldwide. And the spring of 2008 was the coldest on record in the USA’s Pacific Northwest, where record winter snow depths remained in the higher elevations much longer than normal.

This graph of data (see the Link below) from the Vostok ice cores shows us several things:

That global C02 levels have been higher in the past without
making the polar bears go extinct.

That global CO2 levels rise and fall in response to global
temperatures, which means that CO2 DOES NOT cause Global Warming.

That the world is actually approaching the onset of a return to Ice Age conditions, as was predicted by leading climatologists during the 1970s.

BTW, the data that predicts the imminent approach of another Ice Age has NOT been, and it NEVER WAS discredited; on the contrary, it has been reinforced since the 1970s. The data (see Link) from the Vostok ice cores was collected in the late 1990s.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I.....rature.png

Unfortunately, many sincere environmentalists have responded like backwoods rubes at a snake-oil show to the sermons of the psuedo environmentalist Al Gore. Just as many sincere Liberals have have likewise responded like backwoods rubes at a snake-oil show to the US government’s patently bogus ‘official version’ of the 9/11 attacks. And the sincere Liberals who have been duped by Barack Obama’s false promises of ‘change’, and by Obama’s hidden agenda of deepening fascism.

I sincerely hope that as Global Warming gradually becomes obvious to the public as that fraud that it is, and that as Barack Obama continues to show his true fascist colors, the public will begin to wake up to the fact that they have been duped and lied to repeatedly by the US government, which controls the mass media, both of the two major political Parties, and the public school system in order to promote the Imperialist and fascist agenda of the USA’s ruling elite.

    26. Gregory Fegel Says:

One very scarey aspect of the Global Warming hoax is that it is being used as an excuse to promote the use of ‘carbon free’ nuclear energy throughout the world.

The relatively well-educated people of India have been duped by the Global Warming scam, and now most of them approve of a plan to cooperate with the USA in building nuclear power plants in India.

I communicate with a lot of Indians on a regular basis, and I often suggest to them that a good place to build their first nuclear power plant would be at Bhopal. (Where 20,000 people died in one night from a leak at a Union Carbide chemical plant. Birth defects and hundreds of additional, lingering deaths are a legacy of Bhopal, and compensation from Union Carbide never amounted to more than a pittance.)

    27. Stephen Says:

I agree with LLoyd, these graphs are a mockery to any educated individual. As a Stats major I’m not supporting that material as evidence for anything…

    28. Gregory Fegel Says:

BTW, I firmly believe that Bill and Hillary Clinton are coconspirators (perhaps after the event; perhaps before) in the US government-perpetrated 9/11 attacks. As their close friend and confidante, it is highly likely that Al Gore is likewise a 9/11 coconspirator.

All of those who participated in the US government’s perpetration of the 9/11 attacks, including those who have helped to cover up or conceal the truth after the 9/11 attacks, are coconspirators who deserve the most extreme punishment, with no leniency at all.

The USA will never be democratic or free, and it will continue to slide into fascism, as long as the 9/11 conspirators are allowed to live and breathe the same air as normal human beings. It may be that the 9/11 coconspirators number in the thousands, but I repeat: ALL of them must die (preferably by public executions) before we can even BEGIN to find our way back to freedom in this country.

    29. Rob Says:

Oh, and I agree Stephen and Lloyd, on closer inspection. The top graph does seem to show that, for the very least, the average temperature since 2001 has remained the same, despite variance. However, the other 6 graphs are meaningless, especially in regards to their scale. Looking at sea level in particular, the huge increase from 2000 – 2007, makes the small blip in 2008 ABSOLUTELY meaningless!

    30. Gregory Fegel Says:

      Lloyd:
I see nothing wrong with the graphs; perhaps the problem is that you have difficulty interpreting the data. Were you aware that more than 31,000 scientists have signed a petition that defines ‘anthropogenic Global Warming’ as a misinterpretation of the data?

Anyway, science is NOT a democracy in which the majority rules and ‘consensus’ is decided by an election.

Here’s some data for you to examine:

      http://www.oism.org/pproject/s33p36.htm

    31. God's little hamster fart Says:

There’s no CO2 problem cause Al Gore has been huffing it all….

BTW, I am about as far from right-wing as you can get. I not only want to get rid of the CIA, FBI, NSA, ATF, DEA, lobbyists, and the overseas role of the US military, I also want to get rid of the fascist US public school system.

I’m very nearly an anarchist. I’m open to the theory that a government which isn’t hopelessly corrupt might be possible — I’ve just never seen one! So don’t accuse me of defending polluters or industry — I’ve been shouting “hang ‘em high!” for the past forty-some years.

    33. Dwight Says:

“You can never convince me that pumping poison into the atmosphere is not a bad thing.”

Well buddy, that “poison” you’re talking about is CO2, and guess what? You’re worthless ass is exhaling it as we speak, so I guess you should consider harikari to stop the poison.

    34. Clint Says:

These graphs are an absolute joke.
All of them go up AND down, with a clear trend upward.
Yet because the graphs are currently on the ‘down’ spike of the pattern, they claim that somehow, we’re NOT still on an overall upward trend?
This article can rip on Al Gore all it wants, as is so popular to do these days, but why does it not explain then WHY global temperatures have risen along with Co2 as it says “post WWII”? Industry and pollutants from major corporations began spreading at major rates right during that time period, and I hear no other explanations ever offered as to where ALL THIS CO2 came from, if not from us.
To simply claim “It’s the sun, the sun is hotter!” doesn’t cut it.

By the way, this article conveniently forgets that it’s not “Global Warming”, it’s CLIMATE CHANGE. One factor of that is warming, but it also includes extreme COLD, bizarre weather patterns and a general disruption of things like the ocean temperature currents.
So they point to cold winters and snowfall and say “see? No global warming here!”. This is moronic and misleading.

Also, am I the only one to notice that at the beginning of the article, it says THIS: “there are fewer extreme weather events”, and then shortly afterward, it says THIS: “China recently experienced its coldest winter in 100 years while northeast America was hit by record snow levels and Britain suffered its coldest April in decades.”

      HELLLOOOOOOOO?!?!?!?!

I really enjoy PrisonPlanet, but this whole “global warming hoax” bullshit is really irritating to me. It’s 1/2 paranoia and 1/2 mistrust of Al Gore because he used to be the V.P.
And we’re supposed to all think this is leading to some new major tax on THE PEOPLE?! If anything, a Carbon Tax would be applied to the corporations who ARE DOING THE POLLUTING. Which would be a decent idea, so they’d change their polluting ways. Are we to assume that this tax is going to be slapped on average citizens because they drive their car to work? I don’t think so.

Let’s get our heads out of our asses and stop jumping on whatever bandwagon is parked at this site. There’s a lot of great info here, but crap like this article just doesn’t belong with it.

    36. Carl Says:

How do you know Global Warming is a phony issue? Because they’re so concerned about it! They don’t collectively HYPE anything that doesn’t have enormous benefit for the ruling elite.

From drilling in Alaska, to proposals for mandatory vaccinations, to biofuels, to the “war on terror” — always for OUR benefit. We’re Charlie Brown and they’re Lucy with the football. If people don’t understand by now, the “powers that be” don’t do ANYTHING for the GOOD of society at large.

Is pollution bad? Of course! But the same people who continue to make the messes are the exact same people who benefit from cleaning it up. Do you realize how GREAT the colossal “failure” in Iraq was for the people who made the mess?

Even the “official version” of 9/11 is not a terrorist success story — its a continuous series of astronomical government “failures” culminating in an operation who’s ultimate success depended SOLELY on government INCOMPETENCE. Now “terrorism prevention” is one of the largest growth industries, with professional careers in Homeland Security one of the hottest job markets….

    37. Jeff Smithpeters Says:

Fegel, those 31,000 are not all scientists. Most are teachers who do little scientific work. Many of them never did sign the petition.

It is a fact that today’s CO2 levels are higher than it has been in earth history. We have specimens of earth air from many many eras that can be dated precisely. These come in the forms of air bubbles in ice, in amber. In none of them is the CO2 concentration as high as it is now.

It is known exactly what CO2 does to the ozone layer and to the atmosphere itself (it heats it). There simply is not enough plant matter on earth to reprocess the CO2 into oxygen.

But I guess these facts fall in significance when it comes to scoring cheap political points against Al Gore. Some of us think more about our species survival.

These guys in white robes require funding [a tithe ] so that they may become our Saviors. If we don’t listen to them and do as they command, we are told that we will certainly “Burn In Earth”.

The Church Of Global Warming folks accept any information at face value if it comes from a the guys in the white robes.

The only preface required to get their complete and undivided attention is “Science Says”…

The Church Of Global Warming even has rituals.

Personally, i like to watch the ritual where the senior member of the household screws in little twisted lights which they then worship chanting “we’re saving the earth! we’re saving the earth!”

The ritual of Offerings to the Great Green recycling bins is another ritual. Ommmmmmmmmm….

So what if there is no solid proof that their religion has a sound scientific basis? They have Faith in “Science” and faith is required for religious beliefs. It is dogma, plain and simple.

Pope Gore has been awarded The Nobel Prize! The highest award in the religion of science. Anyone who doesn’t believe in the Church of Global Warming is declared a heretic. geeeez…

      sounds like religion to me…

    40. Steve Williams Says:

It would seem like a very wise idea for everyone on the planet to stop using the atmosphere as an open sewer for anything and everything.

It shouldn’t be any more acceptable to use the atmosphere as an open sewer than it is to use waterways as open sewers.

Everything eventually ends up somewhere. It doesn’t just magically disappear. Waste products put into the air will eventually make their presence known in whatever ways they do.

The time of oil and coal needs to come to an end. We now have the technological ability to discard their use in favor of better and far cleaner ways of getting things done. Ways that don’t cause ecological damage.

If you saw someone dumping a barrel of oil into a river, you would be outraged, right?

The same kind of mindset needs to be developed regarding the atmosphere. A barrel of oil dumped into the air has its toxicity effects as well.

If you have the mindset you want a cleaner ecology, then it will become part of the public psychology.

Ps. Nuclear power plants are *not* a viable option. Or anything else that has disastrous potential to do harm. Robbing Peter to pay Paul is not a good way of doing things. As eventually, the proverbial chickens always come home to proverbially roost.

Here is another quote, this time directly from the home page of the American Physical Society:

      “APS Climate Change Statement

      APS Position Remains Unchanged

The American Physical Society reaffirms the following position on climate change, adopted by its governing body, the APS Council, on November 18, 2007:

“Emissions of greenhouse gases from human activities are changing the atmosphere in ways that affect the Earth’s climate.”

An article at odds with this statement recently appeared in an online newsletter of the APS Forum on Physics and Society, one of 39 units of APS. The header of this newsletter carries the statement that “Opinions expressed are those of the authors alone and do not necessarily reflect the views of the APS or of the Forum.” This newsletter is not a journal of the APS and it is not peer reviewed.

I’d like to say that it saddens me to think that such a movement to free energy, where people could run cars off compressed air, generated by solar cells etc. Buildings that sold power back to the grid and so forth, is now being part of the NWO, according to PP. There is a fine line between doing what is right for this planet and it’s inhabitants and getting it all confused with politics and “who is in control” Let’s face it, producing sustaniable energy is in everyones best interest. That’s the bottom line.

The politics can be debated over carbon taxes, endless oil, no oil, global cooling or warming or both at the same time. There is no real answer there or ever has been…it’s politics as usual. It’s been going on for 1000’s of years.

The people will do what needs to be done. They will build efficientcy into everything that is too costly. This could be the greatest time in history, yet the pain we see and the troubles in our political and economic system are the catatlyst for creating new ways of doing things, new ways to design and create a better world. I beleive people will rise up in a good way out of all of this and that the plans that the NWO has, will never rise above the ultimate will of the people.

    45. Gregory Fegel Says:

      Clint:
Britain is already making plans to tax individual citizens for their ‘carbon footprint’, and the USA is not far behind Britain in that pursuit. When carbon taxes come to the USA, I’m going to campaign for exemptions or extra credits for those of us who have chosen NOT to have children, which is the single most effective thing that anyone can possibly do to reduce their ‘carbon footprint’ on the planet.

By “extreme weather events,” the article clearly meant storms and other climate events independent of solely temperature highs or lows.

Note: if you assume that all climate events, including low temperature events, are caused by Global Warming, that is what you will see whenever you look at the data. If we entered another Ice Age you’d be telling us that it was caused by “Global Warming,” which is your answer to ALL climate phenomena.

The graphs in the article show that global temperatures have been both considerably hotter and also considerably cooler during the past 1500 years, and that the recent short-term increases in global temperature are insufficient to demonstrate a long-term or lasting trend.

BTW, according to most climatologists, the variations in the sun’s heat are NOT considered to be the cause of long-term climate change on earth. That is because the variations in the sun’s heat cycles over an eleven year period, which is hardly what anyone would call ‘long-term’.

According to most climatologists, long-term climate change on earth is caused by the famous Milankovich cycles, which are cyclic variations in the tilt of the earth and its orbit around the sun. The Milankovitch cycles are regarded as the most likely cause of the well-studied and well-proven cycle of the Ice Age maximums and minimums.

According to the data of both geology and astronomy (the Milankovich cycles) the earth is on the verge of a return to Ice Age conditions. That is what many climatologists were saying in the 1970s, and the data STILL SUPPORTS that theory. That is to say, most climatologists will affirm that the data shows that the earth is poised to enter another Ice Age.

Many of the scientists and others who have gotton on the Global Warming bandwagon come from disciplines such as biology rather than from climatology. What I’m telling you is that anyone, including someone with a Doctorate in Biology, who can’t accurately explain the Milankovich cycles to you, SIMPLY DOESN’T KNOW enough about climatology to speak as an authority on the subject.

The data from the Vostok ice cores shows that changes in global CO2 actually LAG BEHIND changes in global temperature by about 800 years. In other words, CO2 levels follow temperatures up and down, rather than temperatures following CO2 up and down. That data therefore CONTRADICTS the theory that increased atmospheric CO2 causes Global Warming. Link:

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I.....-petit.png

Supporting the bogus Global Warming theory is NOT a good way to fight against air pollution and for the environment, because the globalist/industrialist/capitalist/fascist promoters of Global Warming want to use the Global Warming hysteria to promote the use of ‘carbon-neutral’ nuclear energy and to force inequitable (and also environmentally ineffective) ‘carbon laws’ on the working classes, while allowing industry to purchase the right (in the form of ‘carbon credits’) to continue doing business (and creating pollution) as usual.

    46. bawuismad Says:

Yo Clint, or shall I say cunt. Don’t be an inadvertent agent you fool! It is useful idiots like you that are ruining our country and way of life. In fact you can actually begin looking at any point on the graph to fit any theory of cooling or warming. The scientific community is saying that there is absolutely no correlation between CO2 and climate change. Well, maybe that isn’t true because the data has been seen to show that warming on the earth precedes increases in CO2. I wonder why this is? Maybe because plants and animals thrive in warmer environments and 99% of the worlds CO2 is emitted from the ocean? It’s guys like you that make me want to side with globalists. Damn, if they only forced the retards like you into camps I would pay homage to the Illuminati.

      http://www.newparty.co.uk/arti.....-gore.html

“The decision by the government to distribute Al Gore’s film An Inconvenient Truth has been the subject of a legal action by New Party member Stewart Dimmock. The Court found that the film was misleading in nine respects and that the Guidance Notes drafted by the Education Secretary’s advisors served only to exacerbate the political propaganda in the film.

In order for the film to be shown, the Government must first amend their Guidance Notes to Teachers to make clear that 1.) The Film is a political work and promotes only one side of the argument. 2.) If teachers present the Film without making this plain they may be in breach of section 406 of the Education Act 1996 and guilty of political indoctrination. 3.) Nine inaccuracies have to be specifically drawn to the attention of school children.

      The inaccuracies are:

      * The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government’s expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.
      * The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.
      * The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government’s expert had to accept that it was “not possible” to attribute one-off events to global warming.
      * The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government’s expert had to accept that this was not the case.
      * The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.
      * The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant’s evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.
      * The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.
      * The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.
      * The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

Not all of the inaccuracies in the film were fully considered by the court as the judge requested a sample on which to consider the case. Professor Carter’s witness statement (reproduced below) lists 20 inaccuracies in the film.”

Read the court testimony climate change churchers…

The only constant about climate is that it is constantly changing.

It is very clear from this court decision that AIT is propaganda.

In case anyone missed it, the ruling posted above was as follows:
“In order for the film to be shown, the Government must first amend their Guidance Notes to Teachers to make clear that 1.) The Film is a political work and promotes only one side of the argument.”
      Regarding AIT:
Somebody, somewhere at the conception stage of this “documentary”
sat around the table… looked at all of the evidence, and carefully sifted through and embellished [or lied] intentionally to promote an AGENDA. It was brainstormed, discussed and [then] implemented.

Personally, i am not gonna charge at the red flag, al gore because i don’t give a shit which globalist swine or their useful idiots are saying….I just want the straight facts from science…and they seem unable to provide these.
The onus seems to have been reversed on the cause of global warming. At this point it seems that global warming is deemed to be man-made until proven otherwise. That is not science.
      That’s politics.
      peace.

The rise and fall of global CO2 is a natural cycle. Look at the data from the Vostok ice cores. Link:

In India, where there is a great deal of public opposition to the idea of a ‘Carbon Trading’ system, Tata Motors has developed a new type of fuel efficient car that is making all the other auto manufacturers throughout the world cringe in fear of the competition from TaTa. The four-door, four passenger Tata Nano sedan has a purchase price of $2300.00 in U.S. dollars and it gets 51 mpg town and 61 mpg highway. Plus, next year Tata plans to release a newer version of the Tata that runs on compressed air, traveling 125 miles on a compressed air ‘fillup’ that costs only $3 in electricity to produce.

“Andrew Bolt of the Australian Sun-Herald has put together a series of graphs based on numbers from a plethora of scientific bodies”

Your source is not a statistician or a scientist. What he is done is completely laughable in the mathematical and scientific community. Give me any topic and a set of data and I can ‘prove’ to you that the data either confirms or denies what you want to see through data mining.

Yes, alarmists perpetrate these very same fallacies. But so do the deniers. I suggest you base your argument of off peer reviewed research in the future.

    55. alienation Says:

I agree with both of Gregory’s comments.

The illustrious Nobel Prize is as worthless and holds about as much merit to me as all those other tawdry plastic trophies that anyone can purchase at the local trophy store or order online.

As for a carbon tax, I would submit that a free market system will eventually produce “green” products regardless of government intervention. In all of recorded history, there has never been a time when human innovation simply stopped dead in its tracks. The energy crisis is no different in that everything is cyclical and in time there will not be a crisis because oil will be a thing of the past. In the meantime, prepare to throw more of your devalued dollars down the government toilet because we all know they don’t care one iota what you think.

    56. Gregory Fegel Says:

      alienation:
Perhaps the reason that India’s Tata Motors is way ahead of the competition is because India is not part of the network of capitalist monopolies that enjoy government protectionism such as we have in the USA, Europe, and Japan.

    57. Gregory Fegel Says:

BTW, I do realize that India has its own network of sweetheart deals between big business and government. What I meant is that since India is not yet a full partner of the Western capitalist/fascist network, India’s Tata has been able to perform an ‘end run’ around Western auto manufacturers with the Nano.

I also realize that in recent years the Western capitalist/fascist network has been working very hard at bringing India within its sphere of influence. The outsourcing of call centers and IT to India is an example of this, as is the current effort to sell India the technology for building nuclear power plants.

I often warn my Indian friends and readers to beware of the efforts of Western governments and corporations to sell India various ‘antiTerrorist’ security products and services. Many of the Terrorist attacks against India that have been supposedly committed by alleged ‘Islamic Terrorists’ are far more likely the joint handiwork of the CIA, Mossad, and Pakistani ISI.

    58. Gregory Fegel Says:

I spent most of my childhood in Kansas, and most of my adult life in Oregon — about 45 years altogether (in Oregon). I have always been a very ‘outdoorsy’ person, and I pay a lot of attention to the local weather, mostly through direct observation.

Normally the prevailing winds in the Pacific Northwest come from the southwest, an extension of the ‘Japanese current’, which is generally warm and often rain-bearing.

This spring was totally different from any that I have ever experienced in the Pacific Northwest. This year the prevailing winds, instead of coming from the southwest, have come consistently, dominantly, and dramatically from the northwest. This spring the weather has been rainier and more overcast than usual.

Global Warming advocates may say “Aha! Evidence of Global Warming!” But I have a different theory. (Don’t get mad at me, people — it’s just a theory.) I think that the shift of the prevailing winds in the Pacific Northwest from southwest to northwest may indicate the beginning of a return to Ice Age conditions.

I suggest this because, throughout the world, this past winter was colder than any on record, with record snowpacks in the Rockies, the Cascades, in Scotland, in Japan, and in Scandinavia. And due to the unusually wet and cold spring weather described above, the mountain snowpacks in North America remained much longer and melted much later than normal.

It is important to understand that the climatic conditions that lead to a resumption of Ice Age status do not necessarily depend on colder temperatures per se, but on the volume of precipitation that falls as snow in the higher elevations. Hence, without temperatures becoming very much colder, increased snowfall in the mountains and in the high latitudes can bring a return to Ice Age conditions. That is what has happened in the winter and spring of 2008.

What I want you to understand is that the return of the Ice Age may not begin with frigid, dramatic storms howling out of the north, but instead with relatively warm but unusually persistent rainstorms from the Pacific that dump increasing loads of snow in the mountains.

If that pattern of increased snowfall and reduced snowmelt continues, it will lead to the growth of glaciers. The data from the Vostok ice cores predicts that we are about to enter a new Ice Age, and the atronomical Milankovich cycles, which are the basis of the current prevailing theory of Ice Age causation.

    59. Paul Says:

Andrew Bolt is not anything like a credible source for anything at all unfortunately. He’s a loud mouthed Right wing blowhard. You would do well not to reference him in future. If the charts come from reputable sources, then that is all the reference needed.

    60. Scorpion081 Says:

My first comment: “Is that supposed to read ’skeptic’ or is Ivar Glaever being referred to as a T—– Mouth?” I don’t think I would want to be referred to as a sceptic!

I also want to point out that is a complete waste of time trying to convince government officials of the truth because the truth disples the “power” they believe they have. Instead, we should spend our energies educating the People by going back to basic earth sciences and on the basis that the only certainty in the world ( natural world ) is change. Just as the Earth’s surface changes all of the time, the Earth’s climate and weather patterns also are ever-changing. Some changes are by constant progression, others are cyclic, and still others are catastrophic. These are changes based on the nature of the planet and its relationship to the remainder of the solar system with most importance on the sun.

Not withstanding artificial manipulation of certain forms of weather patterns ( Weather Manipulation and ‘Ionospheric Research’ activities ), mankind, in general, has little control of climatic trends outside of his local “micro climate”. The climate trends and their changes involve many different contributing variables of which we as a species have little understanding because of the complexity of the natural system and its media by which our weather patterns are produced. It can be demonstrated that certain storms and certain other ionospheric disturbances can be “helped” or augmented even only to a certain level by forms and applications of technology. However, such practices can also backfire in that a storm that is encouraged to strengthen or slightly alter its course, can span out of control or fizzle prematurely, thereby demonstrating that weather phenomenon takes a considerable amount of energy and understanding to be even the least bit controllable.

This “Global Warming” non-issue has so little science backing the claims of its supporters, and so much political capital to spend that it becomes very clear that the political systems are the ones that stand to gain from the status-quo. Diminish the false claims and hysteria of ‘anthropogenic global warming’ and you effectively diminish the political power plays!

As to Gregory Fegel’s idea of supporting laws to ban one smoking on his/her private property because of ‘nuisances’ to his/her neighbors, you are exactly the sort of person that expresses and supports ignorant policies that diminish the basis of a free society. This, “There outta be a law…”, cliche’ is outmoded and outdated for a free society. If you live in the city or even in a suburb, you are exposed to far more pollutants in the air that are KNOWN to cause various health-related problems than someone who is smoking about a front yard or more away from you. In other words, get a grip on reality! We DON’T need more laws, we need more thinking people!

Since we are incessantly bombarded with “climate change” propaganda that is designed to induce both fear and a sense of personal culpability, it is scarcely surprising that we are now beginning to hear of cases of “climate change psychosis” How long now before we hear of an emerging epidemic of severe depression that is induced by the actions of traitorous governments and their agents who are intent on stripping us of all we have, in exerting total control over all aspects of our lives; in determining what we can or cannot do, where we can live, or even ultimately IF we can live, all predicated on what is in effect one of the greatest frauds ever perpetrated against humanity?

    63. Publius Says:

To Bob Maginiss, thanks for the reference to the non-scientific Establishment’s perspective on human-caused global warming I read the article and have a few comments:

      1) It was breathtakingly arrogant – the tone was one of dismissal and ridicule. Examples: “The Australian continues to display its contempt for science, scientists and the scientific method” and “This is pure denial” and “The rest of his article is more pure denial”. I guess if you don’t drink the Kool-aid, you’re in denial…..twice. Actually, the vigor of the personal attacks indicated a religious belief had been questioned, rather than a question of science.

      2) The article failed to directly address the premise-busting points raised by the “in denial” Australian. This excerpt pretty much characterizes its substantive weakness: “In other words, CO2 does not initiate the warmings, but acts as an amplifier once they are underway. From model estimates, CO2 (along with other greenhouse gases CH4 and N2O) causes about half of the full glacial-to-interglacial warming.”

By admitting CO2 is not the cause of warming, but “an amplifier” or warming caused by something else, simply begs the question, “What is the real cause of global climate change?”. Also, that the causal effect of this “amplifier” is determined on the utterly non-empirical (pseudo-scientific) computer models used to foretell doom to Earth from global warming further highlights the sheer ephemera of the response.

I think the preponderance of empirical data reveals the global warming hustle is based at best on the changeable sands of political interest, and at worst on the perennial lust to enslave others that seems to fire up certain hearts.

It is very true that CA gets hit with some severe fires and this was probably helped out by draught, apple moths, sudden oak death and the culprit killing off the pine trees, but this storm did seem completely over the top. I can see lightning hitting the Sierra or deserts and more toward S. Clintons former Vice President is trying to con people into paying more taxes because he was told to stand down when running against George Bush, who’s father was President and who’s own brother was involved in the Florida Diebold voting scandle. Gore basically did his duty and kept his mouth shut and handed the counry back to the Bush bunch.

The now vice President and his former oil bosses are getting very wealthy by the decisions being made by the two oilmen in the Whitehouse. Men who did nothing to stop 911 from taking place and are still quietly training John McCain to keep the course on track , so the people who told him to sit out the last election, can steal the up coming election for McCain if they can’t get the Clintons back into the Whitehouse.

Before you write off man made global warming as a complete hoax perpetrated by the NWO, it won’t kill you to check out Lonnie’s research. http://bprc.osu.edu/Icecore/GroupP.html The only thing that made me question man made warming was the proposed carbon tax and the buying and selling of carbon credits. You need to look at this graph of data from the Vostok ice cores, data that was collected in the late 1990s pertaining to global climate change during the past 400,000 years. What it shows is a natural cycle of global warming and cooling (the Ice Age cycle) accompanied by a parallel rise and fall in global CO2.
In fact, the Vostok data shows that CO2 levels respond to global temperature, which contradicts the currently popular theory that CO2 causes Global Warming. Link:

The ‘biased selective graph periods’ that the graphs cover are basically the same time periods that the Global warming proponents use to make their own argumants. Both focus on recent time periods. The point of the article is that the data is variable and inconclusive as regards ‘Global Warming’.

The data from the Vostok ice cores was collected in the late 1990s, and it confirms what climatoligists were saying in the 1970s: that the world is on the verge of returning another Ice Age. So far, ‘Global Warming’ has never prevented the onset of winter anywhere in the world, and it is extremely unlikely that Global Warming will prevent the onset of the coming Ice Age, which is due to commence very soon. During the Ice Age, your descendants will wish for the good old days of ‘Global Warming’.

    92. Stovo B Says:

Man made climate change seems to be suffering from the same arguments leveled at the theory of evolution… Because there is disagreement about the exact mechanisms involved the whole thing MUST be false. I hate to burst some bubbles, but the vast majority of scientific consensus is that people’s activity is affecting the climate.

Global climate is a complex system and is not fully understood, but that does not change the fact that we are putting more compounds into the environment than ever before. I don’t limit this to the “greenhouse gasses” either. 40 years ago we were pumping out goods with chemicals such as asbestos that at the time were considered to be harmless. Now we know better. The number of new compounds since then dwarfs those prior numbers. Who knows how many will turn out to have adverse effects 50 years from now.

I think we should focus on what a prior poster called “Climate Change” instead of the term global warming. Simple facts…

      1) People and industry do have an impact on the environment.
      2) I would be in the best interest of all to minimize that impact.
      3) Corporations, and corporate supported governments will always look for a way to profit off of any situation, but that does not change the truth of 1 and 2.

    93. Gregory Fegel Says:

      Stovo B wrote:
“Gregory please do not quote Wikipedia as a credible source.”

Stovo B doesn’t trust Wikipedia, but the source of the Vostok ice core graph comes from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s ‘World Data Center for Paleoclimatology’. You don’t get any more ‘mainstream’ or ‘bonafide’ or ’scientific’ than that.

Perhaps Stovo B doesn’t trust NOAA either, or perhaps Stovo B never even looked at the graph I posted because it came from Wikipedia, or even more likely, Stevo B is intellectually lazy, which would be consistent with his belief in Global Warming.

Stovo B suggests that we should now refer to ‘climate change’ instead of ‘Global Warming’. What Stovo B suggests by that is we should not necessarily believe that human activity is warming the climate, but that human activity is doing SOMETHING to alter the climate. Come on now, Stovo B, please take a stand — is human activity WARMING the planet, or COOLING it?

Like I said before: some people, like Stevo, are such strong believers in Global Warming that if the earth entered an Ice Age, they would blame it on Global Warming.

My contention, based on the evidence of paleoclimatology, of which the Vostok ice core graph is an obvious example, is that ‘Global Warming’ is part of a natural cycle. Anyone can see by looking at the graph of the Vostok ice core data that the earth’s climate always peaks sharply just prior to a rather rapid descent into an Ice Age.

Don’t blame me, Stovo B; blame NOAA. I’m just the messenger.

I hear you; for many of us, who have thoroughly studied the ’secret history’ of the US government, the intelligence agencies, and mass media propaganda, do not need convincing that the ruling elite/US government/mass media cabal has guided a deluded public down a fascist path.

However, there remains a need to expose the factual Truth of 9/11, the factual Truth of Zionist fascism, and the factual Truth of the Global Warming scam. We are not, after all, reactionary knee-jerk ideologues like the supporters of the US government and the Zionists, are we?

Debunking the Global Warming theory is not as difficult as it sounds. The Global Warming theory is entirely based on recent data — data from the late 20th and early 21st Centuries. The graphs in the Watson/PP article above suffer from the same flaw as the data promoted by the Global Warming advocates — both are drawn from a narrow span of time during the late 20th and early 21st Centuries.

The Global Warming theory relies on data from a few decades during in the late 20th and early 20th Centuries. Data collected from such a narrow span of time — a few decades, or half a century — is a matter of short-term weather, NOT long-term climatology.

That is why I continually refer the reader to the evidence from the Vostok ice cores, which provides empirical data on global temperature, CO2 levels, and air-born particulates during the past 400,000 years.

What the Vostok ice core data shows us is that global temperatures and CO2 levels always peak just prior to the onset of an Ice Age, at which time they will rather rapidly plummet downward. The current ‘Global Warming’ is simply part of a natural cycle, the last hurrah of the Great Summer before the earth plunges once again into the Great Winter of an Ice Age.

The politically-motivated advocacy of the Global Warming movement and its science-challenged followers is playing a very cruel trick on the governments and the populations of the earth by fooling and manipulating them into believing in the falsehood of ‘human caused Global Warming’ when the earth actually stands poised to enter an inevitable and unavoidable Ice Age, which will make Global Warming seem like a walk in the park.

    97. Gregory Fegel Says:

BTW, for those who actually look at the data on the Vostok ice core graph, you may be wondering why dust and air particulate levels are highest, and also peak, during an Ice age.

That is because during an Ice Age, most of the USA and also Eurasia from southern England to the Berigia are covered with an arid grassland known as the ‘Ice Age Steppe’, which resembles the Canadian prairies at best, and the Gobi desert at worst. The Ice Age Steppe is relatively suitable for raising free-range herds of lifestock, but it is completely unsuitable for agriculture, which will be driven south by the cold temperatures of the Ice Age to the latitudes of Mexico, the Mediterranean, India, and China.

During an Ice Age, duststorms transport particulates from the loess soils of the Ice Age Steppe to the high-lattitude glaciers in Greenland and other subarctic regions, which causes the high dust particulate count during the Ice Ages found in the Vostok and other ice core samples.

Life on earth and its sustaining, all inter-related, nutrient/mineral cycles have all co-evolved over 3 billion years, if you tamper with those cycles, you get climate change as with deforestation initiating flood/drought weather patterns where ‘mother’ earth’s ’skin’ the vegetation nature tries to cover the land masses with is removed the hydro cycle capacitance–water held in the plant life, gone through human greed over need unfettered capitalism,is liberated to cause soil erosion at unprecedented rates and extreme weather patterns. Also, you remove the vegetation and you impact the natural carbon sink, are people saying you could remove all the vegetation and sea plankton, emit as much waste CO2 as you like through burning fossil fuels and the climate would remain the same? I still think Alex is right about a lot of things(he predicted 9/11 TOP MAN!) but I’m agnostic CO2 climate change is a NWO conspiracy.

BTW, did you know that 70% of the scientists in the USA are doing work for the US military? Given who pays their wages, how unbiased could they be?

Get out of your ‘mommy and daddy and Al Gore sez’ mode and do some serious reading on BOTH sides of the Global Warming issue.

Bottom line: ALL of the data that might suggest human-caused ‘Global Warming’ is based on very short periods of time: no more than several decades or half a century. That may tell us something about recent weather conditions, but it tells us little or nothing about long-term climate change.

To understand and interpret long-term cluimate change, you must look at the long-term record, from such sources as the Vostok ice cores, which show global temperature and CO2 levels during the past 400,000 years. If you can read a simple graph, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that the earth is on the cerge of entering another Ice Age. And Global Warming is just the natural peak of warm weather that ALWAYS precedes the onset of a new Ice Age.

    103. I'm a believer Says:

Use some common sense people, what’s the excuse or culpable party for the ice-age, natures natural progression.

Now the Sun will burn out in 3 billion years, who’s at fault there? Natures natural progression.

Does mankind have some blame for climate change either hot or cold? Yes but that is natural progression.

If you really want to make an impact on the environment 1st you MUST stamp out poverty.

I have lived and worked all over the world, so how about the garbage released into the atmosphere becuase the poor must burn tires for heat Andol for cooking and heat, sewage in the streets for lack of plumbing, mismanaged waste for lack of governmental resources or concern for that matter.

To think that fixing the environment comes from the US drilling or European carbon footprint is preposterous.

Add up the the poor from a couble billion Chinese, Indians, Africans and South Americans, measure the difference and see who really is killing the environment. The industrialized or the poor?.

Wanna make a difference, get rid of poverty.

    104. Bruce Says:

This article hand-picks information to suit its hypothesis.

As an example, the American Physical Society reference makes one assume that this group of physicists is challenging the argument over human effects on climate change. But if you visit the society’s website, they claim the opposite:

“Emissions of greenhouse gases from human activities are changing the atmosphere in ways that affect the Earth’s climate.”

And just try to tell the parched populations of Australia, Africa, and the southern US that drought is just a fairy-tale invented by “hysterical phony environmentalists.” I live in a rain-forest and it’s never been drier.

Furthermore, how can anyone make such broad assertions on climate using two years’ of data. This is absurd.

I think the tone of this piece speaks volumes about the bias of the reporter. Besides, the claim that governments and corporations are using global warming as a smoke screen doesn’t wash. If the corporate media’s reporting on global warming amounted to one-tenth of the coverage given to Paris Hilton, maybe we’d all have more to discuss intelligently, rather than emotionally.

    105. COLIN FOWLER Says:

THEY ALREADY HAVE A MASSIVE ENVIRONMENTAL “TAX” BECAUSE FIRST THEY SCARED US ALL INTO USING LESS ENERGY, RECYCLING ETC. AND THEN WHEN EVENTUALLY THE FUEL CONSUMPTION BOTH IN TERMS OF DOMESTIC USAGE AND ENERGY PRODUCTION USAGE DROPPED AS A CONSEQUENCE OF “THE CRISIS” THE PRIVATE ENERGY UTILITIES, OBVIOUSLY TURNED OVER LESS PROFIT, SO, IN ORDER TO COMPENSATE THE SHARE HOLDERS THEY MERELY HAD TO HIKE THE PRICES WHICH NOW HAVING DONE SO PUTS THEM IN A VERY COMFORTABLE POSITION, THEY ARE NOW EXPENDING LESS, EMPLOYING A FRACTION OF THE WORKFORCE, AND RAKING IN HIGHER PROFITS THAN EVER BEFORE. AND THIS IS PERMANENT, THEY COULD EVEN MAKE THEMSELVES LOOK BENEVOLENT BY REDUCING PRICES BY TEN OR FIFTEEN PER CENT AND STILL BE MUCH BETTER OFF THAN AT ANY TIME BEFORE IF THEY SO DESIRED. THEY’VE DONE US UP LIKE KIPPERS FOR BREAKFAST.

    106. NowWhat Says:

Human race has been burning more and more fossil fuels, at a exponential rate since the inception of the industrial era.

Does anyone really think that this will have “NO CONSECUENCES”; burning millions of tons of charcoal and oil daily…

If the earth was of the size of a basketball, the thickness of the breathable atmosphere will be of less of 1/16 of an inch, thats REALLY THIN.

Don’t believe what you are reading here, do your homework, find out for yourself. anywhere.

I am not saying that it will be the global warming, but SOMETHING IS GOT TO GIVE, something is happening and we ALL are going to pay the price for it, no matter how much we blame each other and find excuses for what we are doing. Unless we correct the course of mankind and the way that we have been taking (not) care of OUR PLANET.

Human population has been growing exponentially, doubling its size every 40 years or so, it has taken all the known years of the history of the human race to reach this population numbers, now about 6.5 billion beings, in the next 40 years we will be 13 BILLION humans using and abusing the planet…

SOMETHING IS GOING TO GIVE, we need to raise our conscience and see that there is only ONE PLANET, there is only ONE HUMAN RACE, we own it to our kids, we own it to the rest of mankind that will follow after US.

we must realize that WE ARE ALL ONLY ONE with the planet. until then we are doomed as species.

    107. Clive Says:

I think mankind has an overinflted opinion of himself, His capabilities and his effect on this dynamic world. Yes, we can create pockets of polution through dirty industrial processes and yes, we must avoid anykind of pollution if we can. However, let’s keep things in perspective and remember that our sun irradiates and heats us on a much grander scale than puny little mankind will ever achieve. Don’t jump on the CO2 bandwagon – at 0.038% it is miniscule – and without it we wouldn’t be here; life wouldn’t exist. It’s a huge scam to hook suckers into paying into Al Gore’s private aircraft fuel futures and his insane Carbon marketing fraud to make him even richer. In eons past CO2 was far, far higher but not a man in sight; it must have been dinosaur farts & belches. But the earth thrived. Don’t kid yourselves, people, forces and processes are afoot within our earth about which we know little to nothing, let alone able to ‘model’ them and cause another scare. We are but a blip on the surface. Let earth and the sun do their thing – we can do absolutely nothing to effect any causation in whatever direction.

The use of only a few years’ data is precisely the fatal flaw of the Global Warming theory.

To really understand long-term climate, you need to look at long-term records, such as the Vostok ice cores, which show quite plainly that Global Warming is nothing more than a natural, cyclic warming that always occurs just before the advent of a new Ice Age.

    109. Gregory Fegel Says:

      Now What:
You seem to be saying that “air pollution is bad, therefore air pollution HAS to be causing Global Warming.”

I don’t like air pollution either; in fact I HATE air pollution, the corporations and industries that produce it, and also the governments that permit it.

But the earth’s long-term climate is determined by the astronomical Milankovich cycles, and it will not be significantly altered by the air pollution that humankind is currently producing.

If we want to significantly effect the earth’s climate, we need to set off all of our nuclear weapons. But even that will produce only a temporary influence on the earth’s climate, which will continue into the fast-approaching Ice Age regardless of what we do.

    110. Greenspan deserves to be booed Says:

Bruce, drought is for real, but this is because countries around the world have not developed their water systems for a long time. There are many rivers that can be diverted and/or dammed. If you don’t want to do this then we will have to build nuclear power to desalinate ocean water. If you don’t want to do either, then we will have water problems. With water problems comes more dead people.

There are basically two schools of thought. Those who believe that people are animals and that they should die to save the planet, and those that believe that humans are more precious than a diverted river and that technology has always allowed, humans, animals and nature to thrive.

Yes, we will have to bulldoze things, but nature does FAR FAR more harm to nature over the years than man ever has. And animals kill FAR FAR more animals than man ever has. Its not even close.

So we have to keep a perspective on things. We should recycle as much as we can, like garbage and chemical and nuclear waste (you would be amazed that it is ILLEGAL in the U.S. to recycle certain harmful wastes, such as nuclear waste), and build parks etc, but most importantly DEVELOP third world nations so that they become superior trading partners.

Killing people is not the solution to our problems. Technology and sensibility is.

    111. ProfAndy Says:

You guys are at it again… Global-warming deniers are always citing (limited) evidence against global warming. How about acknowledging that Man should not be messing with Nature in the first place as a rule-of-thumb? Do you honestly think that the billions of cubic metres of gas and pollution mankind as a whole pumps out CAN’T have an effect on a planet who’se ecology is and always has been very, very delicately balanced? It HAS TO have an effect, even if we are unable to quantify it accurately and predict the exact changes.

BTW – your cited evidence contradicts the evidence given in National Georaphic from October 2007 where they show EXACTLY the opposite trends.

    112. Greg Hopwood Says:

Opinion writer Andrew Bolt is hardly an honest let alone credible source of information on any topic or issue, and so far not even rational regarding global warming.

In reality north America had its hottest temperatures on record in
2007, and Europe had its record hottest temps in 2003. Pacific island nations like PNG, Tuvalu and Kiribati are already being inundated by RISING sea levels. As is Bangladesh. India’s Lohachara island already under water.

When coming accross the ‘Temperatures are falling’ or ‘The sun,
not GHGs is causing GW’ arguments in the blogosphere, which almost
without exception cite but not reference NASA as the source of their
‘Global cooling’ claim. I challenge them to produce a NASA link
      confirming the skeptics latest disinfo campaign, and/or find some credible evidence to support their claims;

    113. Gregory Fegel Says:

      ProfAndy:
The ‘evidence’ for Global Warming is drawn from a brief span of time during the late 20th and early 21st Centuries. Such a narrow subset of data is indicative of short-term weather, not of long-term climate.

The highly political Global Warming theory has assumed the characteristics of a religion, not of science.

For an understanding of long-term climatology, I refer you once again to the data of the Vostok ice cores, which shows that ‘Global Warming’ is part of a natural cycle, and that the earth is poised to enter a new Ice Age.

      Greenspan deserves to be booed:
One of the chief problems facing humankind on earth is human overpopulation, and yes, there is a nonviolent, technological solution for overpopulation. It’s called BIRTH CONTROL.

And nuclear energy creates more ecological problems than it solves; hence it cannot be called a solution.

    114. Gregory Fegel Says:

      Greg Hopwood:
During the winter of 2008, record low temperatures and record high snowfalls occured throughout North America.

But that is really beside the main point, which is that when by ‘record temperatures’ we refer to data collected during the past one or two hundred years with thermometers, we are actually speaking of geologically recent time.

For a true understanding of long-term climate, the data collected during the past couple of hundred years with thermometers has little relevance. Instead we must look at the data (such as the Vostok ice cores) which reveals temperature, CO2, and other factors during a span of many thousands of years.

That data indicates the earth is at the end of a warm period of a natural and recurrent cycle, when the global temperature ALWAYS spikes, and that we are about to enter an Ice Age.

    115. Gregory Fegel Says:

      Whoops!
Above I meant to say that “During the winter of 2008, record low temperatures and record high snowfalls occured throughout the NORTHERN HEMISPHERE.
And indeed they did. Snow fell for the first time in recorded history in Baghdad, and also in many parts of China. Snowpacks in Scandinavia, Scotland, Rockies and the Cascades at record highs, snowstorms and frigid temperatures deep into the southeastern USA.

    116. Craig eliot Says:

Folks, all I know is what I feel. It’s been over 90 degrees for the last TWO WEEKS in NY (not Costa Rica!), and it’s only JULY.!!!

When I was a kid we might have two weeks like this in August, but that was about IT. And that was only forty years ago.

The issue isn’t that we haven’t had hotter periods during the existence of earth but that THIS period has happened within the blink of an eye (geologically speaking)—in the last hundred years. Your own heat chart show this spike upward, and there are others on the net that show it still more starkly.

C’mon, folks, do you really like sweating that much?

    117. Gregory Fegel Says:

      Craig eliot:
Winter 2008 snowpacks broke historic records in the Cascades and the Rockies (as well as in Scotland, Scandinavia, and China), and here in the Pacific Northwest, we have also had the coolest and rainiest spring weather in living memory.

When you talk about temperature records over the past one or two hundred years, you are talking about the WEATHER, not climate. To understand climate, you need to look at data that covers not hundreds of years, but THOUSANDS of years.

The data of the Vostok ice cores, which covers the past 400,000 years, shows that global temperature ALWAYS peaks sharply just before the resumption of Ice Age conditions.

    118. Stephen Says:

      Gregory:
Please understand that correlation doesn’t necessarily mean causation. According to the data of the Volstok ice cores, it may always peak before the resumption, but that doesn’t mean that every time it peaks sharply, there will be entering an Ice Age.

    119. Gregory Fegel Says:

      Stephen:
Have you actually LOOKED at the data from the Vostok ice cores?

What the Vostok data plainly shows is that global temperatures ALWAYS peak, and they peak SHARPLY, at the close of every warm period between Ice Age glacial maximums. This occurs approximately every 110,000 years, in exact accordance with the Milankovich cycles.

And it isn’t just the Vostok data — sea sediment cores show essentially the same thing, and the ice core, sea sediment core, geologic evidence, and Milankovich cycle all agree on the same pattern and timing for the Ice Age cycle.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I.....-petit.png

What the Vostok data graph shows us is that each Ice Age glacial maximum lasts about 100,000 years, and that in between each Ice Age glacial maximum there is a warm interstadial, or glacial minimum, which lasts about 12,000 years. On the Vostok data graph, the warm interastadials are represented by the very highest peaks of the graph.

What I’m describing to you is Paleoclimatology 101, Stephen. It is a well know fact that you will learn in any first year Geology or Climatology class that the earth entered the current warm interstadial, or glacial minimum, about 12,000 years ago, and that 12,000 years is about as long as a warm interstadial normally lasts.

A preponderance of evidence of every kind shows that the earth is nearing the very end of the current warm interstadial, and we are on the verge of returning to Ice Age conditions. That is what climatologists were saying during the 1970s, and that situation HAS NOT CHANGED. In fact, newer and additional data, such as the Vostok ice core data that was collected during the late 1990s, REAFFIRMS and REINFORCES the conclusion that the current warm interstadial is almost finished and the earth will soon return to Ice Age conditions.

I’m arguing from the standpoint mainstream climatology, Steve. Global temperatures ALWAYS peak sharply at the close of a 12,000 year-long warm interstadial, just before the onset of a cyclic return to Ice Age conditions. This is college textbook information, and it has been for decades.

The fact is that IN NO WAY does the current theory of human-caused ‘Global Warming’ supercede or ‘trump’ the long-standing, well-established, multidisciplinary evidence that the earth is now at the end, or very nearly the end, of a 12,000 year-long warm interstadial, and that the earth is now on the verge of returning to Ice Age conditions.

      Stephen, you wrote:
“Please understand that correlation doesn’t necessarily mean causation.”

If you understood what I wrote above, and if you know how to read the Vostok data graph correctly, you would realize that a ‘correlation’ is exactly what the proponents of the human-caused Global Warming theory are describing. Actually, the onus is on the proponents of human-caused Global Warming to prove their maverick theory, and they have not at all succeeded in doing so.

The CAUSATION of the earth’s long-term climate change during the epochal cycle of the Ice Age glacial maximums and warm interstadials has already been very well proven and established by climatologists as a product of the astronomical Milankovich cycles. You may call that a ‘correlation’ if you wish, Stephen, but it has been the prevailing opinion of climatologists for at least the past 70 years, and IT STILL IS.

    120. rsol Says:

Alex we love you. Please stick to what you know. And that goes for the rest of you. Simple stuff this. Its only when peoples toys are up for grabs you all start shouting foul. I’ve read quite a few of these posts(not all) and I have seen a terrible tip in one direction. You dont blame jesus for christians? Why I remember when the only people who were talking about global warming etc was me and a few tofu eating treehuggers. Now im no treehugger but i understand the need for trees. Al gore is a scumbag and is using this issue to push his own agenda. That is without doubt.

You seem to confuse the message with the messenger. To all of you nutbags who think that a radio transmitter(haarp) can make weather modification and have an effect on the environment but cant see how 6 billion people living their lives could have any effect…. well.. im not into calling names..use your imagination. but not too much, it seems to lead you astray…

    121. Gregory Fegel Says:

      rsol:
The data from the Vostok ice cores, sea sediment cores, geology, and the Milankovich cycles all agree that the current Global Warming is caused by the natural cycle of the Ice Ages.

Global CO2 ALWAYS rises in direct response to the rise in global temperatures, which is caused by the Milankovich cycles. The Ice Age cycle is well known and definitively proven science, and human-caused Global Warming is not.

The belief that Global Warming is caused by human activity makes you an Ice Age denier. And no, you really CAN’T logically believe in both, because the scanty evidence for human-caused Global Warming is completely trumped by the overwhelming evidence for the Ice Age cycle.

So you’re either a Global Warming denier or an Ice Age denier; there is no middle ground.

    122. Vesa Says:

“The American Physical Society reaffirms the following position on climate change, adopted by its governing body, the APS Council, on November 18, 2007: ‘Emissions of greenhouse gases from human activities are changing the atmosphere in ways that affect the Earth’s climate.’”
