Gov. Blunt Statement on Obama Campaign’s Abusive Use of Missouri Law Enforcement

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.

“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.

“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.

“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.

“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts – not a free society.”

wow, it sounds like missouri has a stand up governor. not at all like the garbage we have in illinois. i’m glad he sounded off with so much opposition to obamas wicked tactics.

Obama and his campaign better watch their fat mouths and Gestapo tactics in Missouri. Them boys won’t stand for it, and if you are a fat donut eating cop trying to enforce Obama’s edicts in Missouri, well… I will just say, you know where you are and so does everyone else.

Go to Gov. Blunt’s website, he has a little spot where you can leave a comment. Support this good man so that other government officials will see how much support they can expect when they stand up against tyranny. Please do this now. Tell him he’s doing the right thing and you stand behind him.

I can almost detect the odor of a jolly good civil suit against the BO cadre.

Now, for those who don’t know, here’s this from US Code:

U.S. CODE: TITLE 18> PART I> CHAPTER 13> § 242;

Deprivation of rights under color of law

“WHOEVER, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects ANY person in ANY State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the CONSTITUTION or LAWS of the UNITED STATES, OR to different punishments, pains, or penalties, on account of such person being an alien, or by reason of his color, or race, than are prescribed for the punishment of citizens, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if bodily injury results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.”

hey everone out there in tv land i live in missouri so this article really sparked my interest
i called some of the people mentioned in the article only one responded it was sherriff glen boyer of jefferson county in one on one conversation that i firmly believe was genuine
he assured me that in no way would his office inhibit free speech.. mr boyer was contacted by the obama campaign to participate in a truth squad but has yet to respond and he said that if he desides to join it will be in a civilian capacity only

The Obama supporters should all be arrested!!! The State of Missouri should prosecute these people and lock THEM up. They are over the top and are acting in an UNLAWFUL MANNER. THis is beyond the pale.

I am sick and tired of these FACIST NAZI tactics. I say shut THEM up!!!
