Life was spiralling out of control for Sheffield teenager Anthony Tomlinson, 17.
He had been kicked out of school without any qualifications because of his disruptive behaviour. “I’d robbed from cars, been locked up and stood on corners with my hood up just like you read about,” he said.
Thanks to his own determination to change and a ground-breaking pilot scheme – ‘Urban Rangers’ – Anthony’s story today is very different.
Urban Rangers receive training in safety advice, working with the public, and other skills such as first aid. They go out ‘on patrol’ and to community events with staff such as Fire Fighters, Police Community Support Officers and City Centre Ambassadors.
(ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW)

Now a role model
The scheme is the brainchild of South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue’s Sheffield District Manager, Richard Chandler, who said: “This scheme is not about keeping kids off the streets. It’s about them getting out there, showing people that they can play a part in building safer, stronger and even greener neighbourhoods.”
Anthony is now considered a role model for other Urban Rangers and is working towards a career in the Fire Service. He says: “Because of Urban Rangers I would never go down that road again.”
Urban Rangers is led by South Yorkshire Fire Service in partnership with Police, Sheffield City Council and Sheffield 50+, the older people’s advisory group.

Doesnt suprises me one bit. The system loves filling its ranks with Thieves, Liars, Murderors, and Charlatans of every sort. Im betting these young criminals will one day make good CEOS at AIG, or maybe even Chairman of the criminal FED.

Some UK cities used to have problems with gangs of kids starting bonfires and throwing stones at the firemen when they were called out. That has been reduced simply by giving the kids the chance to visit a fire station before they get into trouble.

I think the point being made here is that the government are using these “kids,” as another form of low level policing. It may look as though they are doing something positive, but in fact they are just training civilians to police themselves. It sounds a little like the “anti sex league,” from “1984″ by George Orwell. Junior spies. I guess he was right again.
1984 has been a long year…….
Just my opinion.

Guys, wake up! This is nothing more, nothing less, than a kid on the wrong side of the tracks getting his bearings with the help of government. For once we can see government accomplishing something good despite themselves. This kid is not carrying a gun, arresting anyone, or even pushing anyone around … he’s a gopher for the fire department and a helper at events where police cadets or boy scouts might otherwise be employed. He’s making something of himself. How about crawling down off his back.

browzer you are spot on,the hitler youth brown/green shirts ,starts out sounding all wonderful, save the kids/planet community, and then empowered power rangers start standing over the adults, dob in a drugy. We had in australia today ,dob in a criminal, soon dob in a neighbour who is wasting power /not recycling dob in a drink driver…dob in a noisy neighbour, then self policeing comes into effect,” i better keep my head down and my nose clean,go with the flow keep the neighbours happy,i would not want to miss the community meeting and be marked absent from ‘being a good citizen’” 1984 here at last,it has been a long year the 2001 crisis creation ,non stop economic/fear of terrorists/north korea/swine flu/lose your job/your house/your wife fears, steering the herd with one upheaval after another,…get some rope and a can a fuel and track down some rockerfella/rothchilds,water board them till they cough up who there overlords are and grab them too, keep it quiet and simple,do it at night in small groups and hit the mass media and cash and electricity as well as the net, when they start to take our freedoms from that as well, super glueing an icecream shaped credit card in as many cash machines as you can in one night is an idea, come up with your own ideas, this is going to get crazy, the US /British and NATO have been preparing for 30 years of riots as per their own documentation on the net,and this was set up before the monetary crash when every thing was going fine economicly so …why do ‘they’ want 30 years of riots?get your paint ball guns ready to knock out the surveillance cameras,it is a war for your mind and ability to be free, but heh if i am wrong about all this,i wont be inciting violence,i will just go back to watching miami csi and mr ed, brain dead ,if any cia/fbi are reading this…then this email will self distruct in 5 minutes, and i was …only joshing you, have a nice day.

also true

if the kids learn to do good, it is good. if the government uses youth to tell on friends and family regarding draconian laws, that is bad. it could go either way. it must also be stressed that the conspirators had planned to use the gangs, illegal aliens and foreign troops to control segmants of the USA. This plan to “help’ the youth could be used as communist youth/brown shirts to turn in their parents if they are breaking new laws. we will see which way it will go. but, i smell a rat…. anything that sounds good, can also be too good to be true.

This will inevitably turn into a corrupt system where all the kids will just have to find the other criminals wearing the big yellow suits to buy all their drugs and guns. What a country!
