Formula baby milk can contain 100 times more aluminium than breast milk, which could pose risks to health, researchers have warned after a new study.
Traces of the metal were found in many of the UK’s leading products at levels more than three times the amount allowed in tap water.
Top brands including Aptamil, Cow and Gate and Hipp Organic all contained levels of aluminium which are too high, the researchers said.
European law states water may not contain more than 200 micrograms of aluminium per litre but some of the formulas examined contained more than three times that amount.
