Hillary Clinton has emerged as a candidate for Barack Obama’s new U.S. secretary of state, according to reports in the U.S. today.
Sources close to Obama said he was ‘very serious’ about offering Clinton the crucial role.
Condoleeza Rice, the current Secretary of State, will step down when the Democrat takes over from George W. Bush on January 20.
A senior aide to Clinton was asked yesterday if she would take the position if it was offered, according to ABC television news.
The aide reportedly replied: ‘I think so. What would you rather do – be senator or Secretary of State?’

Clinton flew to Chicago yesterday on ‘personal business’, on a day which Obama spent behind closed doors preparing for the transition to the presidency.
Rumours swept Washington that they were having a secret meeting.
There was no confirmation from either camp about any meeting, but Clinton had no official engagements yesterday. Her spokesman said the story was ’speculation’.
Putting Clinton, wife of former President Bill Clinton, in the position could help heal whatever lingering divisions remain in the Democratic Party after her bitter battle with Obama.

Ah ha, smells like we’re starting to get whifs of the deals that were made by the Democrats with the big money people in order to get Obama and thus the Democrats in office.
I am totally convinced that they were expecting and planning for Clinton to become president and for all of the old Clinton staff to slide back into place. Surprisingly, it seems the American people didn’t take to Hillary and strategy had to change. What I think happened is the Clinton camp said, “OK, you (Obama) can get the face position (the presidency), but you have to take all the advisor and secretary infrastructure we’ve planned out for Hillary, and of course a nice juicy post for the old girl, herself.”
Thinking they actually would be running the show despite all of these evil jokers hanging around, the Obama camp probably took the deal. They probably felt that winning the White House was of utmost importance no matter what. We’ll see now, won’t we. This sick thing is the converse that the Obama camp may think these people are actually good choices! Holy crap we’re in for it.
I haven’t read whatreallyhappned.com since the election and him posting “Obama Wins” in big letters at the top of the site, but I hope they DO appoint more ex-Clintonites so that it rattles Rivero loose from his uncharacteristic Obama trance.

If he were to appoint Hillary to Secretary of State, Obama might be making an insanely foolish choice since if both he and Biden were to die, Hillary would then assume the Presidency!
