The FDIC has NOTHING in it’s fund but Tbills. They are little notes from the Treasury that basically say “we spent your money already”

The government keeping T Bills is like if you at the end of every month wrote out a check to yourself for tan amount equal to all the other checks you paid that money to, say to the electric company, car load etc. Then put that check in a shoebox and call that your “fund”. Now when you retire you look into the box and take out all those checks. Can you expect to use those to find your retirement? Of course not then only way you can cash those checks is either to sell them or borrow money to cover them.

That’s the way the government works and that;s how your social security is “funded” and your bank deposits “insured”. It is all spent. Every dime.
