Homeland Security Chief: We Were Wrong to Torture

The first head of the Department of Homeland Security – Tom Ridge – has agreed with the recent report by the International Commission of Jurists which said that anti-terror measures worldwide had seriously undermined international human rights law.
Ridge also said that even terrorism suspects are entitled to due process.
And Ridge acknowleged that waterboarding is torture.

As a former serviceman in the 80’s I feel like we just handed the keys over to the bad guys to torture our troops ruthlessly the next war or even during this so called war on terrorism. Meanwhile the effin drug warlords are hurting people and are estactic over our policy of keeping things like pot outlawed and putting border agents in jail for doing their job properely. In order to maintian the moral high ground and keep our status as a fair and hard working country who labors for freedom of all people we MUST NOT forget how we got there.
No way we can act like some made for TV character who can be ruthless if the end is justifiable. A very slippery slope and the first slip should not be followed by more because the other side uses it against us. That empowers their recruiting drives as opposed to the lame point of view of “they are weak and will not harm human life if they don’t have to do so”. We are the best for a reason. Simply, we bring REAL hope to people fighting for their freedom who may even have to fight our troops today to maintain their family from the brutality of the warlords who rule their world with an iron fist.
Hope is a powerful tool that helps me explain why today we struggle economically, yet the rest of the world stuggles worse. We still have hope in ourselves but the last 23 years or so we have given ourselves and our allies reason to lose hope. We are losing hope in our being able to come out on top for the right reasons. I see people on here who want to make a change who are battling the shills constantly. Sometimes both sides go overboard but in the end the ones who undestand the message of how we have distributed hope like it was candy in our pockets ( to borrow a Costner line in “The Postman”), are the ones I feel are helping us move forward in the right direction.

The day before the inaugaral ceremony for new dictator in u.s.a, a DC 3 (looked like a DC 3), a DC 6 and 6 0ther 15-20 passenger aircraft (total
landed at Santo Thomas/Puerto Barrios Guatemala airport. this number of aircraft for this location is astronomical inside of a 2 hour period. my guess is that these were carring human prisoners of the American gulag that are not listed on the official list of prisoners, and needed to be hidden from Ohbama and therefore were brought to a central american camp, then on the 20th of Feb, just one month later, two marine Chinooks flew in from Belize probably carrying more or replacement guards, just a SWAG on my part.

This number of aircraft in a two hour period is off the charts, then on Feb 20, just one month later, two marine chinooks came in from Belize, probably carring more or a new crew of guards. just a SWAG but stuff happens. Imagine a world were no crime can exist because it is impossible to commit crime. For a start there is no money. You have a RFID chip under your skin and when you go to the pub and you reach a certain level of alcohol in your blood, your chip says you can’t be served another drink until your level drops. When you enter any premises you are scanned as you enter and there is no money on the property so what are you going to steal .. stock but what for, everyone has the same amount of everything. Your house is allotted to you from the government, all houses are pretty much the same, you do have some choice in the home. You never pay rent, it is simply your house to live in for as long as you live and you may change house if you chose at certain times in your life. You don’t have to worry about bills anymore as they no longer come in the post. You no longer spend most of your life struggling to pay the bloody mortgage. When you shop you simply fill in your shopping list on the fridge and every few days your grocers arrive. You are given a job to do in life which you do get some choice in but no longer is one person earning a fortune and the next man who does even more than him, earning next to nothing!
Your house is filled with stock items of which you do get to choose some colors and designs and every few years you do get to change many things in your home and the decor. Your clothes are fairly standard, just good quality easy care clothes. You are no longer a slave to fashion and buy clothes just because the whim of a few rich bastards telling you what you have is no longer in fashion. In many ways you are essentially free, your children are implanted in you and everyone is guaranteed to be perfect, the embryo was genetically tested and it is has been checked for faults and so no longer do you worry about giving birth to some poor unfortunate deformed child who is trapped in a less then perfect body. When you need medical help, it is free and you simply to to the doctor, or hospital and no bill is ever sent. The tennis club up the road is free and every other form of entertainment is free and you are allowed to go to a certain number of shows every year of which you get to choose which ones you wish to attend, or maybe even you get to see them all.
Now tell me, is that not better….. what are you all complaining about!!!!!

Real freedom, is outside of any Government… Governments are just ways of herding the human cattle… and cattle produce much more, when they are allowed to roam free, or at least when they THINK they are free.
Your Utopian society is flawed, because neither freedom, or choice… reason and intellect bloom in a society where every thought is monitored, and controlled, where every aspect of your life is set out for you, where even the barest of essentials cannot break the mold of the others, outside of a few, select approved colors.
The horrors and pains of life, allow it’s joys to be much richer…
Freedom is never free, and people like you, who sell a utopian society, are just the new herders, asking us if were ok with the stalls you’re putting us in, if the noose is too tight, etc.
Removing the rights of choice and freedom, are not worth the dream Utopian society you’re trying to sell…

It is good that Tom Ridge has stepped down from the ivory tower to get a view of what we see, and agree with it.
Maybe he is saying these things to make threats to the PNAC that he can spill the beans so he can get more money?
Maybe his efforts at lobbying didn’t pay off? I guess he figures he has nothing to lose now.
