    SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER
    Monday, Dec 29, 2008

Americans have a right to move about without fear of being groundlessly stopped by law enforcement. As far as we know, that constitutional right applies to all Americans, not just the minority who live far removed from the nation’s borders.

In what is proving to be a sweeping Bush administration security initiative, the Department of Homeland Security has expanded use of its authority to operate within 100 miles of the border. That has come to include increasingly frequent use of roadblocks in Western Washington.

Much of the activity has occurred around Bellingham and Port Angeles. As the Seattle P-I’s Paul Shukovsky reported, it has become routine to check an intercity bus on the Olympic Peninsula at least weekly, subjecting each passenger to questioning about his or her citizenship papers. The Border Patrol maintains it could exercise its authority in Seattle, as well.

    (ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW)

Indeed, by American Civil Liberties Union calculations based on U.S. Census Bureau data, nearly two-thirds of Americans live within 100 miles of either a land border or the coast. That alone ought to show why it’s important that the ACLU plans to test the continuing expansion of border-related powers in court.

There’s also the matter of priorities and effectiveness. Just last month, U.S. Attorney Jeff Sullivan had to tell the Border Patrol his office didn’t want to see any more small marijuana possession cases from the roadblocks.

Isn’t sadism wonderful? Isn’t it a great way to run a civilization?

Three cheers for the human penchant to engage in sadism whenever and however possible!

A day without being sadistically abusive to others is like a day without sunshine! Hurting other people is the ONLY way to make yourself feel good about yourself!

      (end sarcasm mode)
      …………………………

Holy crap. Kids, just say no to sadism. Period.

    2. Rob in CT Says:

Duh… I wonder what “probable cause” means? I guess I’m just stupid.

    3. thedude Says:

    4. ADiplomat4GodsGovernment Says:

Just wait until the coming collapse of the American economy. Watch the forceful military backed expansion of DHS and their intrusive enforcement of every law under the sun. DHS is in many ways is similar to the Nazi’s SS in both conception and purpose.

    5. Take Back the US Says:

This is why I moved to Costa Rica
The Police here dont become police because they can’t satisfy their pathetic desire to have power and control over someone else.

Patriot Act 342 pages of the removal of rights from US citizens. Nothing to do with the fraud of 911. Written years before. Bush gave it ti congress the day before the vote and told them any vote against it would be a vote for the terrorists. None of them even read it. What a disgrace. Wiretapping…illegal entry, and search..arrest w/no charges..detain indefinately..on and on. Mind numbing and sickening.
George the worlds pariah, along with Big Dick, Rumsfeld and Condi, should be prosecuted for war crimes and mass murder. Read Los Angeles retired DA’s book. “The Prosecution of George Bush for Murder.” A masterpiece and undeniable.

      #10 you are very correct.
But I have nothing to hide.
I want to be like John Hancock. I want my name in BIG letters, where the Messiahs folks won’t need their spectacles to read it.
Come and get me you fucks. I’ve fought much harder assholes than you. I’ve fought real men, men I respected, men who were defending their homes and families ( much to my shame). Not you pansy-ass sissies hiding behind ski masks and body armor.

You sent me there to kill men who I prefer to live with than the so-called “elites” here.
Soon it will be time to settle the score and settle it I will.

    11. transPhat Says:

      unite or die, slaves.

    12. spamIam Says:

come together or be apart, ladies

    13. Jin Says:

Yes, we do have the freedom to move about. Isn’t it great! Freedom comes with a price. Freedom isn’t free. Alex will have you thinking that it is your God given right to be free in this country. None of ths was free… people died. Monies were exchanged for lives. We’re really lucky to live in this country where we can ponder these thoughts. We can decide things no other country can and we can access bits of information in ways no other country can. Do your research. Give up that thinking that “elites” are taking over. They can only take over as much as you are buying what they are selling. In America we are still the master of our outcome. Quit your complaining.

    14. expatbrit Says:

Jin – America is rapidly becoming a 3rd world nation. The living standards and literacy levels of most so called Americans is far far below that of the vast majority in the developing world. Infact the 3rd world surpasses the US on educational standards.

Wake up and smell the decay. The US was the laughing stock – although now the laughing has stopped the US is synonamous with world evil

    15. The Truth Teller Says:

The Time is Rapidly Aproaching for Chaos
They were called by the shoe phone just recently :)
We need to put and end to this B/S control system the US Corporation
That being said does anyone know how to do that peacefully ???
I have thought long and hard about this and there seems no way out
The majority are dumbed down and have no clue as they watch sports and shop on credit
The awake are afraid to speak up for fear of their saftey and the lives of their familes
My son is ready to fight and I said i was not ready to die yet
He put me to shame and made me think when he said did I think the Founding Fathers had the same thoughts
The constitution if adheared to and applied correctly can save the Republic and put the USA and the World back on the path to peace and prosperity
You have to ask yourself what is their agenda ?? Population control, Power over another, Greed
why does it have to be this way

    16. Matt Says:

I love the headline… If just TELLING these imbeciles to do the right thing and to stop being a bunch of paid off or duped robocop scumbags (sorry, that’s kind of an insult to Robocop) worked, there would be little need for this website, and it wouldn’t get much traffic. I guess it’s worth a shot, though… Hey, Homeland Security… leave those kids alone.

    17. Betsy Says:

Anyone who DARES declare a Constitution-free zone ANY PLACE within our country has CROSSED the LINE. These people are getting “out of hand” and must be dealt with by the American Public. Every SPECK of our soil is protected by the CONSTITUTION and shall continue in said manner ad infinitum. There is no debate or discussion. “Don’t Tread on Us”.

    18. Veteran Says:

From what I hear, Freedom costs a $1.05…

Please provide us with an example of “…We can decide things no other country can and we can access bits of information in ways no other country can…”.

You obviously aren’t well-traveled. (And no,…Your little trip to The Bahamas, Canada, Mexico, Belize, etc. don’t count.)

Ask yourself: How did he know that?

Clue phone: Because you are far less worldy, intellectual and complicated than you imagine.

      Wake up, cubicle-dweller.

    19. Veteran Says:
