House Democrats pass health-care bill

Hours after President Obama exhorted Democratic lawmakers to “answer the call of history,” the House hit an unprecedented milestone on the path to health-care reform, approving a trillion-dollar package late Saturday that seeks to overhaul private insurance practices and guarantee comprehensive and affordable coverage to almost every American.
After months of acrimonious partisanship, Democrats closed ranks on a 220-215 vote that included 39 defections, mostly from the party’s conservative ranks. But the bill attracted a surprise Republican convert: Rep. Anh “Joseph” Cao of Louisiana, who represents the Democratic-leaning district of New Orleans and had been the target of a last-minute White House lobbying campaign. GOP House leaders had predicted their members would unanimously oppose the bill.
Democrats have sought for decades to provide universal health care, but not since the 1965 passage of Medicare and Medicaid has a chamber of Congress approved such a vast expansion of coverage. Action now shifts to the Senate, which could spend the rest of the year debating its version of the health-care overhaul. Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) hopes to bring a measure to the floor before Thanksgiving, but legislation may not reach Obama’s desk before the new year.
At the Capitol, Obama urged the few Democrats who were still wavering on Saturday afternoon to put aside their political fears and embrace the bill’s ambitious objectives. “Opportunities like this come around maybe once in a generation,” he said afterward. “This is our moment to live up to the trust that the American people have placed in us. Even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard. This is our moment to deliver.”
The House legislation would for the first time require every individual to obtain insurance, and would require all but the smallest employers to provide coverage to their workers. It would vastly expand Medicaid and create a new marketplace where people could obtain federal subsidies to buy insurance from private companies or from a new government-run insurance plan.

Col, Considering that the “governmint” has yet to prove that it can do anything to our benefit, how does it justify any further responsibilities? The main reason people need health care is due to Fluoride, Chemtrails and dangerous vaccines among other dangerous chemicals they originate that make us ill. It looks like a Hugh machine, cylindrical in shape, larger in front, smaller in the back, very strange to behold.

Just thinking…Is it not crazy that the health bill is voted on; on a saturday night, press is consumed with not one “Terrorist shotting” but 2 shootings total. Take the heat off of the Health Care bill much? I think so. Also just note. I hope I am wrong…We will see what gets the media coverage. My bet is not much at all will be said about the Health Bill passing for a while if much at all. All I can say is if you believe in coincidences, cool. Over, and over, and over … (you get the picture) though. Imagine someone you know personally kept having coincidences that “screw you over”. You going to keep buying it. I can’t and won’t.

As a person who wants nothing to do with the Big Pharma/Modern Medicine racket, my government has made me a criminal. I will refuse to purchase health insurance for myself. The govt has budgeted 149 billion 335 million for medicare/medicaid this year. I’m already paying into this system and I am not allowed to participate in it (age discrimination). Now the insurance companies have lobbied to pass a bill that makes me a criminal if I don’t buy their product. This is NOT “just like automobile insurance”. If I don’t want to buy car insurance then I can CHOOSE not to own a car and I can take public transportation. Screw you congress!

I have three wives and 27 children all of whom have been diagnosed with autism and discriminatory disinfranchisemnt. I am looking forward to the Provisons oF Dr. Nancy Peolosi’s legislation which will bring free food, housing, and educational diversity to my large family. Till now I have been struggling with my hourly pay of $12.00/hr to pay for family needs even thought CA assistance payment of $15,000/mo have helped somewhat. I cannot wait until my bambinos become of voting age so that they can bring about more preisidential aid for the poor and disenfranchised mexican american population. Change is the first word I will teach my children to speak in English. The second thing is how to read the words Democrat on a voting ticket and board a ACORN bus to the voiting polls. These people are very nice and give my entire familiy free tacos and two american dollars after our voting excursion.
We are now working witrh ACORN to bring CA state legislation requiring Spanish to be the primary language of the state. This is fair since CA was stolen from Pancho Via. Any English speakers in public shall be fined and imprisoned for not speaking with Diversity and Sensitivy.

Here are 5 concrete reasons why I support HR 3962
1. It ends the medical industries exemption from national anti-trust laws. Right now, insurance companies can and do have monopolies on health care in many states and therefor are able to keep prices inflated because of lack of competition. This bill ends that.
2. It establishes a free marketplace where people can easily compare private insurance company’s rates and creates a more direct competition between companies to lower their prices and earn my business.
3. It provides for citizens ability to form co-operatives to pool their buying power and use their collective bargaining power to get lower rates.
4. It establishes a non-profit insurance company that will compete with profit inflated insurance companies and drug companies and force them to accept more reasonable profit in order to compete.
5. It ends the ability of insurance companies to refuse you treatment because of a so-called “pre-existing condition”, which has been used by insurance companies to take your money without paying for the services they are supposed to. Insurance companies can also charge “old people” any amount of money for coverage just because they are old. The bill limits that amount to double the amount of a young persons premium.
There you go, 5 actual provisions from this bill that I support.
