India is preparing to issue biometric identification cards to every one of its 1.2 billion citizens in what is being called “the biggest Big Brother project yet conceived,” according to a published report.

It is surely the biggest Big Brother project yet conceived. India is to issue each of its 1.2 billion citizens, millions of whom live in remote villages and possess no documentary proof of existence, with cyber-age biometric identity cards.
The Government in Delhi recently created the Unique Identification Authority, a new state department charged with the task of assigning every living Indian an exclusive number. It will also be responsible for gathering and electronically storing their personal details, at a predicted cost of at least £3 billion.
The task will be led by Nandan Nilekani, the outsourcing sage who coined the phrase “the world is flat”, which became a mantra for supporters of globalisation. “It is a humongous, mind-boggling challenge,” he told The Times. “But we have the opportunity to give every Indian citizen, for the first time, a unique identity. We can transform the country.”
If the cards were piled on top of each other they would be 150 times as high as Mount Everest — 1,200 kilometres.
The card will include a computer chip with either a fingerprint or an iris scan, the report says. The card may even be tied to criminal and credit histories. And last, but certainly not least, with just about 7 percent of Indian society registered to pay income tax, this new database of citizens — potentially the largest ever attempted — will certainly aid in the government’s collection of funds.

Hmm interesting, wonder if Bill gates is helping with this after he hired half the country to give tech support to us Americans. Has anyone realized lately(and I do have friends from India) that there are more & more businesses owned by the Indian people in America latley?????People, our country has been sold out from underneath us. Even major stretches of highway have been sold to foreigners, OUR FUCKING COUNTRY! Oh, about the biometric cards, coming to a free society near you. Are we really free????????

It’s something the U.S. is probably encouraging so we can glean any intel from the operation and implement our National I.D. program with minimal hiccups when the time is right.

Doing this might save the money spent on the battalions of government employees required to maintain the warehouses of paper records for every district and department across India. I just hope the electricity system is reliable enough to power the card readers across the country – maybe they will be solar powered.

Do you have a drivers license, state id, ssi card and # ? Lets back that up with a credit and or debit card & top it off with a cell phone that pings all day and a car that bounces back and forth from outer space with your radio and gps. Sounds like india is still free…

I understand that because India’s people are so skinny that instead of facial pictures they will do snapshots of the entire skelaton. If they do just face shots, one skull looks exactly like the next skull. India’s people were instructed to eat a fucking bowl of rice or sacrafice a cow for a good meal before the picture so they can put on a pound or two. They were going to do finger prints but the fucking slinks are so dehydrated that the fingerprints don’t show up either. These bastards are so fucking skinny the photogragher asked if he could do “group shots” to save on film. Also the cameraman was using a flashbulb but the fucking flash bleached right through the flimsy skin of the Yarni’s and all you could see was bone. So again one starving Gandi looked just like the last one. Last I heard they were going to make each Indian shit on rice paper and do DNA extracts if all else fails. Well thank god I’m an American. Got to go my lobster tail and rib eye are almost done. LATE
