Infowars Story on Illegal Tennessee Checkpoint Prompts Action by Governor

In response to a number of calls to the Tennessee Governor’s office, the Whiteville, Tennessee police have canceled a planned seat belt checkpoint operation that was to be conducted in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security and the 251st Military Police in Bolivar, Tennessee.
WNWS 101.5 FM aired a story on the cancellation today.
Keith Sherley of 101.5 FM in Jackson, Tennessee, interviewed Representative Johhny Shaw earlier today. Shaw indicated Governor Phil Bredesen “didn’t need another headache” and canceled the checkpoint. Shaw, who represents the area in Tennessee where the exercise was to be held, admitted the checkpoint was a “bad idea in the first place.” Shaw voiced his opposition to military involvement with local law enforcement. “It would have frightened more people than it helped,” Shaw added. He said he did not think the operation would be rescheduled.

Infowars, Prison Planet, and a handful of blogs covered the story on Thursday. The story was not deemed important by the corporate media. A Google News search of corporate news media websites returns zero results on the story, even though the checkpoint was a direct violation of the Fourth Amendment and the Posse Comitatus Act prohibiting military involvement in domestic police operations.
Calls to Governor Phil Bredesen and his decision to halt the checkpoint operation may be attributed to the diligence of an Infowars reader who provided a tip that resulted in a story appearing on the Infowars and Prison Planet news websites yesterday and earlier today. If not for that coverage, the checkpoint operation with DHS and military collaboration would have probably occurred on April 4, as originally noted in the Hardeman County, Tennessee, Bulletin Times.
NewsTalk 101.5 FM apparently picked up the story from either Infowars or Prison Planet. The WNWS website ran an article on the cancellation with the headline “DHS, Military Police, Law Enforcement Planned Checkpoint in Whiteville, Tennessee,” almost exactly the same headline that appeared on Alex Jones’ websites.

Wow, I live in Tn, I didn’t even hear about this checkpoint thing.
Way to go Alex! btw , I have some real information for you and would like you and or you staff to vett it. It is scary and if it weren’t for you, Jason and this site, I would not have known just how dangerous the group who sent it to me, is. Homeland security and the military for seat belts. That sounds like a huge waste of taxpayer money. Obviously they were concerned about more than just seat belts, namely adjusting the people to get used to military checkpoints.
Notice how they start these “warming up” operations in “butt-fuck, Idaho” type towns. I think this is because if they did it around a bigger city, the media coverage of it would be undeniable – someone would have to cover it.

You are lucky the militarys still have a constitution in place to consider before they lower the boom. In a certain municipality near here (Canada)the policy is continuous “seat belt checks” and drivers license checks. No one cares. It was in the papers once but not for a long time. The bullshit constitution from the early 80s doesn’t stop them from doing it. There is a tradition of accepting the states nightstick passed down from that delightful colonizer England.

You’re not wrong mate. I live in Wales in the UK and believe me the place sucks. Cameras everywhere, Police cars all over the place. Weird stop and search operations and road blocks. No evidence of troops involved in policing yet but then again if you saw our pigs you’d see why. They look more like paramilitaries than the fucking army. This shit bucket excuse we’ve got for a government has given us a new piece of legislation – law – for every day in which they have held office, about twelve years now. A forelock tugger is someone who plays dirty and gets their way with brute force. It means to tug or yank the forelock (which is the lock of hair that falls on the forehead, ie. bangs).
Secondly, a cap doffer is one who removes his hat as a gesture of respect.
Example: The Queen’s entrance cut a swath of comotion over the crowd, who then hastily removed their tattered crowns of cloth not worthy of the Queen’s ‘highness’.

Exactly! Reminds me of how a frog will sit in a pot of water slowly being warmed to boiling and won’t jump out, but put the frog in water already boiling and the frog immediately jumps out…(not that I would put a live creature in a pot of bowling water..that pretty f’ed up anyways.)
But that’s what our little “leaders” are doing, and their stupid slack-jawed paid minions who are just “following orders”. They are very slowly and methodically turning up the heat so that illegal checkpoints just become ‘another headache’ to endure, along with all the other erosion of our rights.
Give those turds an inch and they will take…whatever the hell they think they can get away with. But they keep pushing, and we keep pushing back, and winning.

good post…they keep pushing, but we may not be pushing back on all fronts enough to win, I don’t know, they are just relentless…we’re under attack on all fronts…it’s a full court press..there has been an escalation…we’re either going to come to a critical mass decision where we determine that we collectively don’t want this and we create society in a better way, or we will….submit to them lock stock and barrell…this is a spritual battle we are in…we are the ones we have been waiting for. We absolutely must fight any and all checkpoints. The government has pushed us around and managed our resources poorly for too long.
