Inhofe: “No Way Of Knowing” Where Bailout Money Has Gone
Senator calls for blank check to be cancelled, says passage of legislation was predicated on lies

Senator Jim Inhofe has slammed the continued secrecy behind where the bailout money has gone, saying that Hank Paulson could have given it to his friends and that the “blank check” must be cancelled now.
The Federal Reserve has failed to comply with congressional demands for transparency and disclose the destination of at least $2 trillion dollars in bailout funds, underscoring once again the failure of top down socialism and the folly of trusting the foxes to guard the henhouse.
Speaking with Tulsa World, the Oklahoma Republican said, “It is just outrageous that the American people don’t know that Congress doesn’t know how much money he (Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson) has given away to anyone,” adding, “It could be to his friends. It could be to anybody else. We don’t know. There is no way of knowing.”
Inhofe chastised Paulson for carrying out a bait and switch in which he abandoned the central promise to buy out bad mortgage debt after passage of the bill by Congress.

“He was able to get this authority from Congress predicated on what he was going to do, and then he didn’t do it,” Inhofe said.
Inhofe also highlighted the urgency with which the bailout bill was pushed and said this was a tell-tale sign that its advocates were lying about the problem in order to ram through the legislation.
“I have learned a long time ago. When they come up and say this has to be done and has to be done immediately, there is no other way of doing it, you have to sit back and take a deep breath and nine times out of 10 they are not telling the truth,” he said.
“And this is one of those nine times.”
As we reported at the time, some members of Congress were threatened with martial law in America if they failed to vote for the bill.
Inhofe is now trying to rally support for a freeze on what’s left of the initial $350 billion of bailout money with his “roll back the bailout” proposal, which will also require an affirmative vote on the part of Congress to approve Treasury’s plan for the remaining $350 billion.
“It is imperative that we not allow that amount of money to be added to a deficit approaching $1 trillion this year without any input from the legislative branch,” stated Inhofe on his website.
“Congress abdicated its constitutional responsibility by signing a truly blank check over to the Treasury Secretary,” he wrote.
“However, the lame duck session of Congress offers us a tremendous opportunity to change course. We should take it.”
Inhofe dismissed the premise of the bailout, affirming that giving away money does not stimulate the economy.
“If we keep on nursing a broken system, then we can’t expect to have a different result come later on,” he said.
“I just think we have to draw the line someplace, and the time is here.”

I have to agree with Tex. It is time We The People take back our country. But like I read last week. There are a lot of people willing to talk and talk in blogs but are not willing to organize, pick up arms and take the fight to the enemy. Maybe it is time to give our Nams Vet their just dues. Sorry to poke a hole in your arguement Steve, but they didn’t give the $$ to big oil. The current low prices we are seeing are a result of “deflation”, which tyipcally proceeds hyperinflation, which we will see at some point next year. That is when the food lines will start and unemployment will hit double digits. You are seeing the same thing in Gold right now, DEFLATION.
The $$ from the treasury went to prop up the banks, the same banksters that are causing all this mess. It’s quite simply more of a consoidation of this countries wealth, from the taxpayer to the bankers. The end game was more control for the bankers, which they got handed to them on a silver platter.

The US Government was bankrupt, they needed the money to pay it’s Government employees till Bush left office then the timing would be ‘it’s someone elses problem’.
The money went back into the Government coffers, if it didnt there would be anarchy as with no pay all the Gov’ workers wouldnt have gone to work. Then the Bush admin wouldve been clearly at fault, but this way they get a reprieve for another couple of months.
With all the companies loosing money ANd getting bailouts, the Government wasnt getting the tax income it usually does, that means they needed loans to cover the shortfall, but they couldnt get loans, so they hid the request for funds as aid to ‘bailouts’ which ended up being themselves, but if they admitted ‘they’ needed the money Wall st wouldve well and trule crashed, the dollar wouldve sank to 30% of its curretn value. It goes on.

The downfall in gas prices has nothing to do with that, it is forcing companies that use alternatives to drilling oil, i.e. tarsands to longer be able to viably extract oil, the middle eastern oil tycoons (OPEC) is going to drown out the competition all the while crying that they are loosing money when in fact they are making money at over 15$ a barrel. Can anybody say BAILOUT. Wouldn’t that just be a turd layer on this shit cake, first banks then random corporations like auto, housing etc then oil companies

Senator Inhofe is a great guy, one of my favorite Republicans in Congress (right up there with Ron Paul). I donated to his campaign for re-election, and I’d recommend folks to support him and pay attention – he is not controlled by the Globalists and is a true American hero.
Regarding BD’s comment, it is most likely because of your attitude BD that you’ve been banned. I for one appreciate a community where those who exercise offensive behavior are banned – just like we need to do with the Globalists, ban them from government forever!

Does anyone really think that the U.S. is going to give up its one trump card: the dollar as the world currency? The one way to control every market everywhere one way or another.
What if the plan was to never pay back a single dime of any of the money? Borrow as much as possible from anyone who is foolish enough to lend it.
The Federal Reserve, a private bank which can at a whim print money, loan it, then charge interest on that money. In reality the money is backed by nothing. All the value is stored in a computer system.
So let us pretend that the U.S. government borrowed Trillions of dollars for all sorts of places, all of it tracked through the US Treasury and the Federal Reserve. Both systems store their data on huge computer systems.
The dollar in your purse of wallet has “Federal Reserve Note” on it. So that means that the Federal Reserve owns the note, and the bearer of the note owns the value of it.
So what if these systems are attacked by “terrorists”? What value does the dollar have to you when the Federal Reserve has no idea if it has any money, where its money is, or where it went? What if the US Treasury is in the same boat? What if the big disaster that all the Intelligence Agencies are warning about is really about a monster financial hack on the system where all the financial information is lost (or so we would be told)?
Imagine that your dollar is worthless, no one will take it because it is finally realized that it has no real value. In the past the dollar was back by Silver or Gold from the U.S. Treasury. Now that dollar is a “Federal Reserve Note”.
Every business in the U.S. would instantly be broke (it would affect the entire world of course). In fact, all you would have is your possessions. No way to buy food if you could find it, no way to buy gas, no job to go to, no malls to shop at, no utility companies would supply electricity, gas, water, sewer, police would have to work if they did for free, all life as we know it would end.
It would be a given that Martial Law would be implemented. We would have to accept whatever form of government existed as we would have no means to fight back.
Now that would be bad news.

but I have seen good dog owners and bad dog owners…dog owners who have no love or compassion for their animals…one’s who take them for granted…treat them with superiority…hit them…kick them…scream at them…barely share scraps..
and though such dogs are generally too scared to bite the hand that feeds them sooner or later a dog will decide I don’t care who you are and just snap…

I appreciate Inhofe’s efforts for complete transparency regarding the “bailout”, but lets be clear, where was the legislation in the “Bailout” bill that REQUIRED transparency before any monies where transferred into Mr. Paulsons hands? You know what surprises me with the USA ? It is that the public is still being told there is a bail-out going on, that you are being told there is a serious financial crisis, what the policies are to be, that you still know more or less your official leaders. Why haven`t they simply said nothing, taken the money without Congress knowing (or silently complicit) and those uncontrolled congresspeople murdered/pressured, and nobody would know ? It seems strange that a population as easily controlled and used as slaves as the USA is still being told so much (twisted/destorted) truth. You got more then you deserve ? Next phase is that you won`t even have any scandals to complain about, not because there aren`t any, everything about society/government will be one big scandal, but you aren`t being told anything about it by anyone anyway. So how do you know what is going on. Instead of fighting for the shoddy democracy you have left and repair/improve it, it seems you are going to find out your current freedoms and knowledge can still be greatly diminished.
So that is probably a point to watch out for: the “silence of the dictatorship.” Much news seems good, government is “clean” because there are so much fewer scandals reported, people are doing wonderfully well, because about those would be reported more.
I don`t know for sure they will play it like that, but it is a popular method used by dictatorships: greatly diminishing knowledge by the public. In the middle ages Europe they augumented this further by keeping people from studying and even knowing how to read and write.
All the great improvements made in the past could be eroded away if there is not enough to keep the improvements alive. Is there enough social activism in the populations ? Seems not. Hence things will melt away until there emerges an equilibrium to the will of privatie finance to return to feudal conditions, and social activism of the populations, until at least private finance itself is taken out and replaced (social activism on the offensive, (semi-)criminal private finance elites on the defensive and then relieved of duty).

They have been robbing us blind for 80 years. Exponentially increasing robbery. We are all having issues with this “bailout” but we dont understand the fix and what it means to our lives TO fix it.
The Federal Reserve has to go. What does that mean for us. It means we as a country wont be able to live the high life any more. Money (the production of) has outpaced consumer production and we have inflation. Yes we all have lived good, but the cost is we have been robbed mercilessly. Hell, we just gave our permission for them to rob us of 700b. Think about that. We said ok we will go on the hook to GIVE you 700b. So in this case the roles were reversed in a perverted way. We became the lenders lender, yet we are still the borrower AND still have to pay that money back (with interest). Do we get any of the assets of these insurance and banking giants….Hell and No. And we voted (well congress did) and said, “Well yeah this needs to be done.”
I think we have reached the point where our intelligence makes us blindly ignorant. The only think i can teach my kids is to use their brains to their utmost. To not be a slave to debt or credit. To cash and carry as much as possible. So when or if cycles like these happen in their adult lifetime, they can sleep good knowing they own everything they have.
