President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday that Iran has boosted the number of uranium-enriching centrifuges to up to 6,000, in an expansion of its nuclear drive that defies international calls for a freeze.
“Today they (the West) have agreed that the existing 5,000 to 6,000 centrifuges do not increase and that there is no problem if this number of centrifuges work,” Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying by state radio.
Ahmadinejad said in April that Iran was working to install 6,000 more centrifuges at an underground hall in a plant at its nuclear facility in Natanz, where it already had 3,000 running.

It is a major expansion of Iran’s nuclear programme, which the West fears could be aimed at making atomic weapons.
Iran is already under three sets of UN Security Council sanctions over its refusal to halt uranium enrichment, which makes nuclear fuel as well as the fissile core of an atomic bomb.

Where did all the fear of Iran come from. Iran has never threatened us, they have never attacked us.The U.S has thousands of nuclear power plants all over the country. Why cant everyone else have nuclear power (including Iran). I’ll tell you why its cultural and economic oppression against Iran to prevent them from bettering themselves. They use Iran’s nuclear program to fearmonger and to scare people into supporting the war. Other countries have started nuclear programs (the same programs that can power houses or be used for bombs) how come Isreal and the U.S. have not put out sanctions against them or threatened them with all out war. But remeber even if Iran could enrich uranium and wanted to use it for miltary applications such as D.U. or I.C.B.M’S they would have to start an entirely new “MILITARY” program for that purpose, because enriching uranium to generate power is one thing but using it for miltary applications (artillery shells, bombs, and missles) is something totally different? Like the late, great George Carlin once said “ITS ALL BULLs---, AND IT BAD FOR YA!!!!

theres something about this iran-should-be-attacked-cause-they-want to-make-nukes debate that i dont get. im no scientist so i dont know which part of the nuke is more complicated and time consuming to create but wouldnt it be alot easier to just buy the parts you dont have instead of making them?
also, that would indicate they really meant business. the reports now are vague and is more like, “infrastructure? they are muslims, why would they want that? bombs away!”

Until Iran shows that it actually WILL ATTACK someone, they are only acting in defence, IMO. Logic dictates that we allow them the same security measures we insist upon in the USA and other super-powers.
Hypocrisy in opposing only Arab and Asian countries who have nuclear ambitions, is the thing that might eventually cause a real terrorist to use one of those weapons against us or our allies.
We let them have nukes. Then we should work together to dispose of them. We dismantle some. Then they dismantle some. Back and forth until they are all gone and even the USA keeps its promise not to develop new nukes.
Problem solved. The fact that the world’s leaders have not agreed upon such sensible proceedings absolutely proves that society and its policies are controlled by the power-elite.
