The Iranian navy launched the seventh day of major naval drills in the strategic Strait of Hormuz on Friday, with naval forces performing special heliborne operations, the local satellite Press TV reported.
The spokesman for the drills Rear Admiral Seyyed Mahmoud Mousavi said that Friday’s exercises include attacks on predetermined targets at sea as well as tactical shootings at mock enemy targets, using different classes of speed boats.
Marine commandos also conducted free-fall parachute jumps from helicopters, said the report.
Naval forces will rehearse coast-to-sea shooting and targeting mock enemy drones on Friday, Mousavi was quoted as saying.
Last Saturday, the Iranian navy launched a 10-day exercise, dubbed Velayat 90, to cover a length of 2,000 km stretching from the east of the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Aden.
