Iran has now produced roughly enough nuclear material to make, with added purification, a single atom bomb, according to nuclear experts analyzing the latest report from global atomic inspectors.
The figures detailing Iran’s progress were contained in a routine update on Wednesday from the International Atomic Energy Agency, which has been conducting inspections of the country’s main nuclear plant at Natanz. The report concluded that as of early this month, Iran had made 630 kilograms, or about 1,390 pounds, of low-enriched uranium.
Several experts said that was enough for a bomb, but they cautioned that the milestone was mostly symbolic, because Iran would have to take additional steps. Not only would it have to breach its international agreements and kick out the inspectors, but it would also have to further purify the fuel and put it into a warhead design — a technical advance that Western experts are unsure Iran has yet achieved.
(ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW)
“They clearly have enough material for a bomb,” said Richard Garwin, a top nuclear physicist who helped invent the hydrogen bomb and has advised Washington for decades. “They know how to do the enrichment. Whether they know how to design a bomb, well, that’s another matter.”
Iran insists that it wants only to fuel reactors for nuclear power. But many Western nations, led by the United States, suspect that its real goal is to gain the ability to make nuclear weapons.
While some Iranian officials have threatened to bar inspectors in the past, the country has made no such moves, and many experts inside the Bush administration and the IAEA believe it will avoid the risk of attempting “nuclear breakout” until it possessed a larger uranium supply.

Now all we are waiting for is Israel’s unilateral policy to commence in a world that’s ready to blow at any moment…

low-enriched uranium that Iran has is about 3% refined
For a Nuke… you need 98% or Higher Refined
More BullSh$t…..

Exactly, Rik! By the same standard EVERY nuclear power station in the world has the material for a nuclear bomb. This is arrant nonsense.

I agree with Rik and Kenj. I like a lot of what Alex does, but I don’t know why he publishes this alarmist propaganda. The “nuclear experts analyzing the latest report from global atomic inspectors” are bullshit artists misrepresenting what the IAEA report ACTUALLY says – That Iran IS NOT building a nuclear weapon, and that their enrichment is totally legal and within the Non-Proliferation Treaty guidelines. This report gives an impression that is the exact opposite of the truth. This is the kind of crap that makes me skeptical of Alex.

Alex and company point to these articles of “alarmist propaganda” showing you that “they” are planting the seeds of the reaction to the future nuke attack on our soil.
Having this story in the media will increase the likelihood that the sheeple and the corporate propaganda machine will automatically blame Iran for the nuke attack that is about to happen in the US. They have been bringing up the “nuke” point a lot in the news lately, along with the names Pakistan, Iran, and North Korea. As well as Russia and China, one of these or more will be faulted for the next false flag attack on the US.
I would lay odds with Iran, since they have been nurturing the Iran thing for quite some time. But I wouldn’t rule out Pakistan either, since Obama has rattled his saber in that direction.

oh, well then they will be able to nuke just one US or Israeli city before being annihilated by the US and Israel. Seems about time for Iran to hand their 1 nuke off to Al Quida.

Perhaps Iran is going to nuke Dimona!

and that is why alex had it posted.
This article is from the International Herald Tribune….. NOT prisonplanet.
I think you are supposed to understand that the International Herald Tribune is spreading propaganda.
