Iran has condemned the latest Israeli threats to “strike” Iran as Tel Aviv releases news of its biggest ever joint war games with the US.
In a letter to the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council, Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Khazaee urged the body to exercise its power and put an immediate stop to what he called “unlawful and insolent” Israeli threats against UN member states.
Israeli President Shimon Peres launched into a tirade against Tehran in an interview this week with Kol Hai Radio and threatened Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
He said if the Iranian president does not act during speculated talks with the US to soften his stance, “we’ll strike him.”
Peres also confirmed that Tel Aviv “will” launch its much-predicted military strike against Iran, should the alleged overtures sought by Israel’s staunch ally Washington fail to force an end to uranium enrichment in Iran.
The Israeli president refused to reveal details of the military plan to take out Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, but confirmed that Israel would not launch a unilateral strike against the country.
“We certainly cannot go it alone, without the US, and we definitely can’t go against the US. This would be unnecessary,” Peres explained.
Israel, the sole possessor of an atomic arsenal in the Middle East, accuses Iran of marching toward nuclear weapon capability and has used the allegation to justify preparations to launch air strikes on the country’s power plants.
Iran, however, says it has lived up to its commitments under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and should thus be allowed the right to a peaceful nuclear program.
While the UN nuclear watchdog has confirmed the non-diversion of nuclear material at Iranian nuclear facilities, Israeli media outlets have shed light on Israeli plans to launch the largest ever joint US war games in the occupied territories.
The military maneuvers will focus on countering possible retaliatory rockets launched from Iranian soil in the event the Israeli plans to strike the country are put into action.
In his letter, Khazaee said, “Officials of the Zionist regime [Israel] have repeatedly threatened to resort to violence against the Islamic Republic. These threats, blatant violations of international law and the UN Charter, are repeated with inaction on behalf of the Security Council.”
According to the Iranian UN ambassador, the lack of UN action against Israeli echelons that see justification in carrying out “criminal and terrorist acts” against independent countries only emboldens Tel Aviv.

You are all being distracted with this bogus talk of an Israeli attack on Iran.
The Israelis are military realists. They know that an attack would not be successful as the Iranians have dispersed their facilities too broadly for Israeli airpower to destroy the Iranian nuclear program.
As well, Iran would extract a big price, likely ordering massed Hizbollah rocket attacks on Israel.
No, what is likely going on is a program of sabotage and assassination of key Iranian scientists and administrators, most likely co-sponsored and executed by the United States.
There isn’t going to be any overt military strike on Iran by the US or Israel. That doesn’t mean the Iranian nuclear program isn’t going to be attacked. It will just be done behind the scenes. Remember that Israel has a long history of assassination of enemies, as does the US.

Iranian government is OVERTLY criminal. They said they were going to wipe Israel off the map. I agree Israel will not attack. The final war will be between Edom and Persia. Israel will NOT take part.

You will need to do your homework. The “Wipe Israel off the map” is a fallacy.

That has to be questioned, the translation might have been deliberately changed to suit needs. Besides, if the iranian president said it, it is of no real importance, because he is not the decider of Iran.
How gullible are people in buying into all these wars anyway?
Iran has signed the NPT, there is a fatwa against nuclear weapons and the country is closely monitored. Nothing to fear.

Obviously Israel cannot do anything. Bin Laden has the US trapped in Afghanistan, and bush screwed up and attacked Iraq. Therefore, US cannot support an attack on Iran because we have no soldiers to fight a succesful war! I would also like to add that why is Israel threatning Iran when they cannot defeat Hizbullah, and they can only hold them for a 34 day war? They cannot control Gaza, nor make peace with Syria?! If Israel were to attack Iran it would be their death. Everyone knows this. Iran held Iraq at the border for 8 damnn years, and look at the size of Israel. Not an even match even with nukes! If Iran were smart they would preemptively invade Iraq so US would be concentrated there, and cannot supply military to Iran. If North Korea were smart, they would start a war now with US to distract them even more! We can blame everything on Israel, because we are cleaning up their mess. So am i racist? I am just a realist, and not afraid to bash jews when they need a good asss kicking. Get a life! You got nukes, and you threaten Iran, you should be atacked for that bullshiiit! Peace!

Agreed but for a few points.
Firstly Iran didnt just keep Iraq at bay for 8 years… Remember this was a US proxy war. Iraq had the assistance of the US, isra-hell & 26 arab states. Thats a fact. Secondly Bin Laden, Al qaeda, the Taliban etc are US created entities. No-one has the US trapped in any part of the world. The murdering US forces are there because they want to be there. Its part of the global expansionist plans.

As we live out these last days, and having understood most of the warnings, then I must say that it is time for Jerusalem(Israel)to “become a stumbling block for ALL nations”.
Which side you choose is of course your choice to make, but before you do,read the Bible.
If you don’t believe, you’d better be right.
