Iranian lawmaker: Syria has a right to retaliate

An Iranian lawmaker condemned the alleged Israeli airstrike in Syria saying Damascus retains a legal right to retaliate, Iran’s Press TV reported.

“Damascus retaliation against the illegal move of the Zionist regime is a right of the Syrian people,” Mohammad Hassan Asafari, a member of the Majlis Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, said on Thursday.

He added that Israel’s move was a clear breach of international law, saying it violated Syrian sovereignty. Asafari urged the international community to take a firm stand on the issue.
