Further, the USA is unlikely to divert anything like its total military
towards Iran even in the event of total war, at the expense of leaving
its other Worldwide assets, and the American Homeland undefended.
Nor could the USA afford to leave the conflict zones in which it is
currently involved without dire consequence.

You talk about simplistic people, and of circumstances as though
there are few grey areas, but the reality is that in the past the West
had always meddled in Iran. Look what happened when Mosadik
was overthrown by CIA intereference, and the Shah was imposed on
the people. His was one of the most brutal regimes on the Globe.

When he was overthrown by the Mullahs, the USA aided his escape, and he
then stole a vast amout of Iran’s wealth and took it to the USA. In turn, the
Shah had this wealth stolen by Rockefeller’s Bank in New York. The Iranians
have not forgotten these vile American acts, and expect dishonourable
conduct from USA.

1st, Israel could easily defeat Iran, in a one on one, however, that will not happen, because the US Military will definitely get involved. When this happens, Iran is gone, along with everyone who sides with them.
2nd, Everyone talks about the US military being “spread thin”, but it’s a fallacy.
America currently has 195,000 troops in Iraq, and Afghanistan, including the 17,000 troops Obama sent, recently. Now, the total US military is numbered at 2,475,967 troops(Oct. ‘08). There are more than enough troops to destroy Iran, and Russia. The North Koreans, however, could be spoilers, should the S Koreans fail to keep them in check. They have millions of troops, and would tie up many US assets, assuming China doesn’t get involved, immediately, which they likely would.
3rd, It’s annoying to see so many simplistic people, who believe that Iran is a “good guy”. Do you remember WW2? Haven’t you learned anything? How do you guarantee a win? Easy! You play both sides. Friction between nations is created, to keep you enthralled, don’t forget that. The countries of the world are all won, the citizens are the only thing standing in their way.
Now, please, for god’s sake, think before you speak! Mis-information doesn’t help our cause.
