The release of the Iraqi reporter Muntazer al-Zaidi who threw his shoes at the former US President George W. Bush has been delayed.
According to his brother, al-Zaidi will be released on Tuesday, a day later than expected.
“He called me from the prison and said ‘they won’t release me today, they will free me tomorrow’,” Zaidi’s brother, Durgham told AFP on Monday.
Durgham told reporters that the necessary legal procedures had not been completed and they would have to wait at least one more day to see him at liberty.

Al-Zaidi was initially sentenced to three years for assaulting a foreign head of state, but had his jail time reduced to one year on appeal.
The 30-year-old television reporter is set to be freed early because of good behavior.
Zaidi shouted “it is the farewell kiss, you dog,” at Bush on December 14 last year, seconds before hurling his size-10 shoes at the former US president who was speaking at a joint press conference in Baghdad on what was his farewell visit to the war-torn Iraq.
