Ireland will hold a second referendum on the European Union’s key Lisbon reform treaty on October 2, Prime Minister Brian Cowen said Wednesday, as opinion polls show voters will back it this time.
Cowen said he had set the date after receiving assurances from his European colleagues on issues that concerned Irish voters, who threw the EU into disarray when they rejected the treaty in a referendum in June last year.
“I believe these concerns have been addressed now in the shape of the legal guarantees which have been agreed by the 27 heads of state,” he told parliament.

“On that basis, I recommended to the government that we return to the people to seek their approval for Ireland to ratify the treaty.
“That referendum will take place on October 2.”

I just got a flyer through my door from the irish governments dept pretty much saying after discussion with the EU all the sticky questions have been answered, in other words VOTE YES, i posted it in newstips to the website, hope they post images of it. it’s laughable….. I thought my country was on the verge of bankruptcy, but they’ve no problem spending a few million on a marketing campaign to get this thing passed.
we already have 21.5% VAT rate on nearly all goods, income taxes have gone through the roof in the last 6 months…. benefits have reduced. Can’t wait to see what a yes vote has in store.
maybe the EU will bail us out to get us to vote yes.

Don’t do it!! Hold out Ireland!! it is a ruse! Im inspired by you people in Ireland who have held off the Eu as long as you have. Shoot, at least you all get to vote on it! Were in worse condition being a constitutional republic and all and our government hijacks our rights to a vote on anything anymore.

Hi aussie assault. Having watched the antics of John Key since election we are in it up to our necks and I have no doubt that Kevin Rudd is too. I was reading a report recently where Rudd was calling for an Asia Pacific Union just like the EU. Within a few weeks of Key being elected he was over in Aussie having one-on-one conversations at the bottom of the garden with Rudd. You can only shudder as to what they were discussing.
Having deluded myself that being in NZ would keep us safe I now realise that the MP’s in NZ sold us down the river years ago to the NWO.

Sucked in Aussie Assult. That’s where we stand in Australia. How many people care about our freedom in Australia and can see through the right wing/left wing rubbish shoved down their necks on our mainstream media? Oh that’s right, they don’t really give a toss, they are more interested in seeing what is the latest with “Home and Away” and “Neighbours”. Personally I think that Australia was founded as a convict collony and hasn’t changed from that mate. We have drones living all around us. In saying that, I think that the NWO don’t have their prying eyes on our nation as much. I think they will kill most of us off here and just use the land for its resources. That’s my take on it. I think we can fly under the radar alot though, ie: going bush etc. That’s our plan.

I hope Ireland votes NO…… AGAIN. Ireland fought for its freedom. Ireland needs to fight for Europe’s freedom. I know Ireland can do it. I know Ireland will be true to freedom and independance. I have several Irish friends here in the U.S, and every one of them have called their family to vote “NO” in Ireland. Freedom must prevail.

As everyone knows, government closest to home is more responsive than a distant government would be. Distant governments away from the people tend to become power-mad, lawless and corrupt. Government is there to serve you, not the other way around!
I don’t see any need for a distant EU “government.” There is no EU language for starters. And countries can make their own arrangements on international matters. Besides, look at what larger countries do in these organizations. They use them as excuses for their own corrupt purposes. That’s what the U.S. does in the U.N. Meanwhile smaller countries send their sons and daughters out on these “peacekeeping” missions and end up dead. Doesn’t anybody give two cents about them? In memory of them I’m saying these things.

We had council, and Euro elections in Ireland recently. I think I heard it was one of the biggest turn-outs in our electoral history.
We had this time in the Euro vote a new party which was Libertas. This party was to be a Euro party which was to be a European party, which meant it was not to be tied to any national party. The reason this new party did so badly is, the Irish people are for the most part insular.
The reason we voted no the last time is, mostly we did not understand the Lisbon Treaty, and most workers and dis-enfranchised voted no.
The reason we had such a good turn-out in the recent elections was, the farming community voted en mass as they had just recieved their free money which is also known as farm grants.
The amount of this free money to the farming community I heard tell was in the region of 104 million in the 26 counties.
My point being in all this, if the farming community is given assurances before the next vote, not to mention money, it will be a resounding yes.
So we see there are sheeple and there are herders, and I am one of the sheep, otherwise known as a worker, redundant, but still a used up worker.
A further point to this rant, the Irish government at present is cutting health care, welfare, and everything they can get away with, why did they give this money to one community at the expense of all others.
By the way, the farming community get those grants twice yearly.

Thank you Alex, for allowing me to post this. If I tried to express this view in any of my MSM media it would be deleted. It would be regarded as just the ravings of a sad be-grudger, when in fact I do not for the life of me understand why this money is given to any one part of a community, to the detriment of others within the whole community.
I have been a worker all my life, I have paid my taxes and supported workers unions, only to find when things are bad in my community, the unions and the elites will stay quiet as they would wish others to do.

I don’t think there will be an October 2nd vote on Lisbon. For starters there will be scandal that will bring down Brian Cowen’s government and posts by iforgetwhatiused and mick clearly show what that scandal will be like. In addition, the German high court has ruled recently that there must be changes to Libson in order to past muster in the court’s mind. Translation, they will simply give up on Libson and try to choke through a third document, and I am betting that document will bare the name of (insert name of German city here) Treaty. Besides, the third time is the charm.
