Israel and the US behind the Georgian aggression?

There is an obvious Israeli involvement in the present conflict between Georgia and Russia. There are hundreds of Israeli military advisers in Georgia and this is not just the claim of the rather unreliable DebkaFile but also the more respected Ha’aretz expert Yossi Melman, the daily Ma’ariv and also the rather reliable website “News First Class” (NFC).
Melman wrote on 25.6.2008 that Georgia became a real El Dorado for Israeli arms dealers and numerous representatives of the army and intelligence services. Some former generals like Israel Ziv and Gal Hirsh (with his company Defensive Shield) are very active there.
“Gal Hirsh and Israel Ziv are mainly training and consulting Georgian arm units. They are using the “chain” method common among Israeli arm dealers: a main contractor wins a tender and employs then sub-contractors – in this case Israeli officers and former Shin Beth employees,” wrote Melman.

According to him there was a project to sell Merkava tanks to Georgia, but allegedly the Israeli foreign ministry prevented the deal and a policy was outlined that only defensive weapons are allowed to be sold.
Just the same Russia protested agains the Israeli military support to Georgia after an Israeli produced UAV was shot down. On August 5 Israel reiterated its official policy that it allegedly sells only defensive and not offensive weapon systems to Georgia. This is the version published e.g. in the Jerusalem Post; other sources, like the Israeli daily Ma’ariv on 8.8, claim that Israel decided to stop altogether the military support to Georgia. Just the same Ma’ariv points out that the Georgian defense minister, David Kezerashvili, lived for a while in Israel and speaks Hebrew. In a lengthy article the military exports to Georgia are described. Ma’ariv estimates them to be of a value of at least USD 300 million. An Israeli marketing expert told Ma’ariv: “To every Israeli agent representing an Israeli defense company is attached a cousin of the defense minister, who opens the doors for him.”
Also NFC confirms the massive presence of Israeli advisers in Georgia and writes: “The Israeli military industries upgraded in recent years the Georgian air force, sold unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), advanced artillery systems and trained infantry units.” (9.8) The NFC claims that according to sources in Washington in Moscow the war started because Georgia wants to reverse Israel’s decision and achieve the continuation of the support. Israel, according to NFC, conceded to the Russian threatening that it would otherwise go through with the sale of its most advanced anti-aircraft missile system S-300 to Iran and Syria.
Actually the opposite conclusion is also possible, namely that Israel wants to pressure Russia not to sell the S-300 and stop its support to Iran.
The Israeli website DebkaFile, that is known to publish mainly conspiracy theories, believes that up to 1,000 Israeli advisors are active in planning and implementing the present Georgian military action (8.8). This conclusion sounds plausible.
Actually it has to be taken into consideration that also U.S. “consultants” are helping the Georgian army, as according to Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman, there are 127 U.S. military trainers there, of whom about 35 are civilian contractors.
In addition to the trainers, 1,000 soldiers from the Vicenza, Italy-based Southern European Task Force (Airborne) and the Kaiserslautern-based 21st Theater Sustainment Command, along with Marine reservists with the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines out of Ohio, and the state of Georgia’s Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 121st Infantry participated in “Immediate Response 2008.”
Operation Immediate Response 2008 was held from July 15-July 30, with U.S. personnel training about 600 troops at a former Soviet base near Tbilisi, the largest city and capital of Georgia. The goal of this operation was allegedly teaching combat skills for missions in Iraq. The Marines left already the country, but not the airmen.
It is obvious that there are numerous Israeli and U.S. interests in Georgia and it is highly likely that they are behind the dangerous Georgian move.

its quite odd 1 day after a cease fire is set up 15 CIVILIANS and 10 RUSSIAN PEACEKEEPERS (though I don’t know what a russian peacekeeper is) were killed after violence broke out in south ossetia. There has to be a lot of questions behind this situation. Who enticed it, US or Israel. My money is Israel influenced, pressured or carried out the attack. To disrupt and distract Russia.
With The Olympics on every station and this conflict on the others, an easy distraction of any attacks being carried out against Iran. With Russia being a sort of ally behind Iran you have to wonder why out of nowhere a conflict breaks out. Considering that it was an Israeli plane that was shot down, it creates a lot of questions. The gross part about this is how Israel is once AGAIN involved in another attack.

My guess is a Russian peacekeeper is the same as an American peacekeeper – soldiers sent to keep the peace. Of course, our idea of “keep the peace” may not be the same as either the Russian or American ideas.

My money is they both did – it’s all about the oil, both in the Caspian and in the Middle East.

It’s not out of nowhere – China is busy with the Olympics, Russia is now busy with Georgia and both of these events have been coming for a long time, the latter with both US and Israeli assistance to the Georgians.
What neither of them expected was Russia slapping down the Georgians so easily. Just like they thought Hezbollah would be smashed easily by the mighty IDF.
Now they are REALLY worried, because this could backfire altogether and pull far more fence sitting Caspian region nations onto Russia’s side, because both Israel and the US have shown that while they will encourage you to fight the bear, they won’t lift a finger to actually help you, and you WILL be torn apart. On top of that it shows that Russia IS willing to commit it’s own troops into the defence of an ally, unlike the US, who will only risk American lives for American objectives – allies be damned.
Iran couldn’t be happier.

if i was georgian i would not want anymore ‘advisement’ from the brilliant idf and us forces. talk about a set up. what was georgia thinking??? the us and israel basically sent a one-legged man into an ass-kicking contest! stupid.
and now what will they do against russia? jack squat, thats what. russia will piss all over georgia as it pleases and trust me they could give a crap about ’stern’ warnings from the white house. oh please… pffff! the white house (like the kremlin) only flexes its military might against helpless third world countries… both bullies in every sense of the word. screw over the little guy. but for what purpose? like this will prevent moscow from supporting iran? i think not! europe will invade russia? article misses the point completely. this was a russian invasion of a sovereign nation. just because you give your passport to nationals of another country it does not mean that you have a right to control that area. s.ossetia and abkhazia are a part of georgia not russia…and the real issue here is that the russians wnat to have puppets surrounding them. they will put in a puppet similar to the one they have in belarus (if they can)

No, this was Russian peacekeepers defending the people both sides agreed they could defend. They were sent there after the LAST time the Georgians attempted to ethnically cleanse South Ossetia.

Tell that to Georgia… after all Ossetians have lived in Ossetia for a very long time – it was only relatively recently that it got split in two and half “given” to the Georgians. Well, that is about to change.

US puppets or Russian puppets… I think the Russians have more right to them considering they are on the Russian border. How would the US react if both Mexico and Canada joined a Russian security agreement and started receiving weapons and training from Russia with the express intention that they be pointed at the US? Eisenhower warned us about the military industrial complex which has now gone global. We could use all the money wasted on guns and spend it on space exploration or social issues like education, but that would be liberating for the people and put their operations in jepardy. The Georgian conflict is only to keep our minds off the political bull shit going on here in the states. Always vote third party. A vote for the major two parties now in power is a vote for your own demise.

Mad Mark….Space exploration??? Come on lets get real. I know somebody who used to be in Army intelligence and he told me that the whole moon walk thing was staged and filmed on a beach somewhere. Think about it. When they landed on the moon and dude is walking around with the flag….notice how the flag is blowing in the wind? Now explain to me how there is so much wind where there is zero gravity. The whole space program is also a hoax bud. It’s just another one of the huge independent corporations and money laundering businesses that the U.S. government has set up to suck more of our hard earned money out of us to fill their pockets.

Umm…….yeah…like I said it’s just a big hoax look up the walk on the moon video with Lance Armstrong. Notice the Wind? did you pay attention at all to what I wrote before? There is no such thing as real space exploration. All it takes is a little common sense to know that there is no way the wind is whipping like that up on the moon in zero gravity.
