Israel clears troops who killed Reuters cameraman

An Israeli tank crew who killed a Reuters cameraman and eight young bystanders in the Gaza Strip four months ago acted properly and will not face legal action, Israel’s senior military lawyer has concluded.

The military advocate-general told the international news agency in a letter sent on Tuesday that troops could not see whether Fadel Shana was operating a camera or a weapon but were nonetheless justified in firing a shell packed with darts that killed him and eight other Palestinians aged between 12 and 20.

Reuters said on Wednesday it was deeply disturbed by a conclusion that severely curtails the freedom of the media to cover the conflict by effectively giving soldiers a free hand to kill without being sure they were not firing on journalists.

Shana, 24, filmed two tanks positioned about 1.5 km (a mile) from where he was standing for several minutes before, in a chilling final 2 seconds of video, his camera captured one tank firing a shell that burst overhead, showering the journalist and others with thousands of metal darts known as flechettes.

“The tank crew was unable to determine the nature of the object mounted on the tripod and positively identify it as an anti-tank missile, a mortar or a television camera,” Brigadier General Avihai Mendelblit of the Israel Defence Forces wrote.

How can a tank’s cannon accurately kill people on foot but not tell the difference between a mortar and a camera. What about “Check your target”?

If it was an antitank device on a slender tripod, why use a flechette round instead of an HE shell? Flechette rounds are very good at destroying people and not neutralising weapons.

The only reason the zionist occupation troops went through a military advocate-general sham investigation is because the murder of civilians was caught on tape. Only allegations caught on video is ever put through fake investigations. Any other kind of allegation is ignored or the report slandered.

Isreal murders more people just because they are there. And the world says… Nothing. They’re like the little kid who bullies all of his peers because he’s got a big brother. But take the US away and Israel would have to pay financially and militarily, for the horrors, they have planned, executed and caused. All jews are NOT Zionosts, but it will be the Zionists, that will destroy Isreal from within. Israel’s ultimate destruction will come without any effort from any single Arab, or Arab nation. This is too obvious for words. No wonder they did all they could to destroy Ron Paul. How could Israel ever win a fight, when they would have to be on equal ground with their opponents. They can’t. I think this is a terrible thing and that Israel has to have better standards of determining what is a camera or weapon and only to fire upon a questionable situation if it appears life threatening.

“rw3″ talks about how Israel should be on “equal ground” and also how the world is silent to her abuses. We can all have our opinions but please look at history–and a map. Look at the size of Israel compared to all its mostly hostile neighbors. Equal ground? When Israel declared itself a nation ALL the Arab nations around her attacked. Equal ground? Israel still prevailed. Their heart and toughness doesn’t only come from U.S. dollars. “The world says nothing”? An uprising in Syria and the Syrians kill 2000. Don’t hear much on that but half the U.N. admonitions are against Israel. Look at the abuses all around the world. How many of you “Zionist” screaming people shout out about genocide in Darfur? About tons of abuses in Arab nations? Why do they get a free pass?

Have Israeli soldiers committed atrocities? Yes. Have U.S. soldiers committed atrocities in Iraq? Yes. Imagine being in a country which has been under threat for 60 years. Just a handful of years under such stress is too much psychologically for our soldiers in Iraq to handle without psychological damage. 60 years! And besides false flag operations carried out by rogue elements in government, there is real terror there daily. If we experienced here in the U.S. the daily terror in the form of discos and delis being blown up, Americans would be begging for a police State. Unfortunately it seems to only take a boogie man (Bin Laden) and most are already rolling out the red carpet for the U.S. gestapo.

Remember, too, a Zionist believes that Jews should move to Israel. There are blacks that believe blacks should move back to their motherland where they were kidnapped. Not all Zionists are planning a grand conspiracy and the ones that are care little about Jews living in Israel; they care about world domination and suppressing the masses.
