The youngest soldier to win the George Cross has criticised Gordon Brown for ‘betraying’ the Armed Forces and revealed he now works in a call centre, selling insurance.
‘My medal says I am a hero of the Iraqi conflict, a man of extraordinary valour and strength of character,’ says Chris Finney. ‘But now I work in a call centre. My life has gone from one extreme to the other.’
At 18, he won Britain’s highest civil accolade for rescuing a wounded comrade from a burning Scimitar armoured rec my, he would have won the Victoria Cross.
They were victims of US ‘friendly fire’ that killed comrade Matty Hull during the Iraq invasion in 2003.
In a moving interview in tomorrow’s Mail on Sunday 2, Mr Finney says that when he received his George Cross, ‘the Queen told me she had not presented a GC for “such a long time” and that it was “a privilege” to give it to me’.

I have an urgent message for you, more important than any message you can hear. God is Holy and cannot accept sin(honor thy mother and father…, thou shall not kill, thou shall not commit adultery, thou shall not steal, thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor, thou shall not covet..etc…Exodus 20:12-17). Here are some verses that show examples of sin:
“Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.” Matthew 5:21-22
“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” Matthew 5:27-28

It is a horrible and terrible place of everlasting torment that people will go because of their sins.
“And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.” Luke 16:22-24
“In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;” 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9
But God has provided a way for each to escape the lake of fire. He sent his Son Jesus(God manifest in the flesh-1 Timothy 3:16) who was conceived by a virgin by the Holy Spirit of God,lived a sinless life, and suffered a horrible death/shed blood and rose again 3 days later to take the penalty of YOUR sins so you dont have to pay for them in hell for eternity! He loved you so much which is why he did it! He is the only one to have fufilled the law perfectly(sinless) and paid the price of the entire world’s sins so that man could be saved on the merits of His perfection(see Romans 5:19). All you must do to be saved is BELIEVE in Him(trust in Him to save you as a sinner). You must admit your lost sinful condition to Him/that you’re worthy of hell, and ask Him to save you by placing complete trust in Jesus ALONE for salvation(an example in the Word of someone doing this- “And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.” Luke 18:13).It is not even partly by yourselves that you can be saved, but only by the merits of Jesus Christ!
“For God so loved the world, He sent his only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life” John 3:16.
“And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world” 1 John 2:2
“…Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,” Revelation 1:5

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10
No works or anything you do can save you! May God open your eyes, that one day I may see you in heaven. Read the Word of God(the 1611 King James version- NOT the modern versions, they are corrupt) before rejecting it! Death is fleeting. You may NOT have tomorrow! For death comes when we least expect it! Make sure you are saved TODAY! The Bible condemns the rich, the wealthy, and those who take advantage of the poor, so it CANNOT have been made up by the elite. Because the Word clearly CONDEMNS people such as those! It declares all mankind as sinners(myself included).
I am a Christian, and love you enough to warn you of the dangers of hell. Beware, the Roman catholic church is NOT Christian! The church CANNOT save you but only Christ! Just because someone says they are a Christian does not necessarily mean they are one(remember the crusades in history? Many were murdered in the name of Christianity. I’m not sure what he’s expecting. It’s sad his friend died but that’s war, that’s the path he chose. He thinks he should have a better job then he should go get one.
This fella had a rough time in war but in the whole article he didn’t say one word about believing in the mission in Iraq instead described his reasons for being a solder as wanting “half-decent wage and to see a bit of the world”. Well he got his money and had his adventure. If he feels he got a raw deal next time he should try fighting for something he believes in.

Yes, I agree- not sure what he was expecting. Being in the military doesn’t make you a man. Now that he’s in the real world having to pay for his own housing, food etc, he’s unequipped for it. Fiber optic laying jobs are like construction jobs, you’re always going to be moving around. People often don’t think before they enter into a career of “does it pay well and what demand is it?” A call center is far better than risking being killed in occupying other countries to help steal their oil. Be glad for a real job and not continuously being a moral outrage in your old profession.

I feel that this man is a hero and his true recognition will come. I now think that the royal family are not standing up for the British. This soldier needs to get out of his own arse and realise that one brave decision made years ago in a foreign country is just a moment in time that is now past. What did he expect? Special treatment for the rest of his life? Yeah, right, like the country isn’t full of everyday heroes who didn’t go to Iraq and go un-recognised. A better generation came home after their war and then just got on with being civilians; they certainly didn’t spend the rest of their lives bitching about how unfair it all was.
Time to grow up and be brave enough to live your lifeeveryday – you’ll find it much harder than some instintive reaction in the heat of adrenaline.

As much I disagree with the wars of aggression our leaders start I support our troops. Most UK troops are young uneducated men who only joined the army to get a wage, either that or a life on the dole or maybe prison. I cannot imagine what its like to be stuck halfway round the world fighting an invisible enemy where you are more likely to die from a road side bomb than actual armed combat. Our government always says how much it supports the troops but then it scrimps and saves money by not giving them the helicopters to avoid the IEDs.
I think its very easy for people behind desks to sound tough by talking about war when its other peoples kids who are dying. I think a far better way to fight wars would be if the people who declared war actually had to fight the opposing countries/terrorist groups leader.
Sell some ring side seats for Bush v Obama, no holds barred, Mixed Martial Arts. Blair versus the Talibans Mohammed Omar.
I doubt we would ever have another battle.

On the same day that I read this article, the papers were reporting on Conservative MP (UK) Nadine Dorres. Dorres just got her 22 year old daughter a job working as her secretary on the gravy train. This is the second daughter enabled through nepotism!
All you young guys thinking of signing your freedom away, look at the bullshit way this hero was treated. You might want to better yourself, but you will ALWAYS just be expendable scum to them. DON’T DO IT!!!!

He is working, many ex-soldiers are not, they become alcoholics or druggies or criminals. Eventually some of them off themselves.

It kinds of sounds like the guy is immature. does he think in life when you do something right, there is an equal, automatic law that says good thing will now begin happening to you? In my experience, everytime I helped someone out by putting myself in a poorer position, I paid dearly, saved a life or two, but not paid for it by monetary gain in any way at all. like this one time my bro was help up on probationary deal, I had to give up a business to move to another state to get him out of the hoosecow, but I didn’t receive blessings from heaven with a new job or anything. It’s much worse now financially, but my bro is not six feet under.
