Jim Rogers: Abolish The IMF & World Bank
Veteran investor says Obama stimulus package only making economic crisis worse

In an interview with Sir David Frost on Al Jazeera television, veteran investor Jim Rogers pinned the blame for the economic crisis squarely at the feet of the Federal Reserve, and said that the World Bank and the IMF should be abolished, not given more power, if a recovery is to be made.
Rogers strongly slammed Obama’s stimulus package, pointing out that more good money was being thrown after bad, and that the bailouts were only making things worse. The veteran investor said that the U.S. was following the same disastrous policies as Japan in propping up companies that should be allowed to fail, and that the same consequences would be reaped as much as 20 years into the future.
“The way the system is supposed to work, when times like this come, the solid people, the competent people, take over the assets from the incompetent people and then you start over again from a sound base, this is what South Korea did, this is what Russia did, and they did fine. What they’re doing this time is they’re taking the assets away from the competent people and giving them to the incompetent people and saying now you compete with the competent people with their assets and their money – it’s terrible economics and it’s not going to work, it hasn’t worked before and it’s not going to work this time,” said Rogers.
Rogers said that price had to be paid for 15 years of excess, but that the crisis could have been overcome in two or three years had zombie companies and banks been allowed to go to the wall.

“The central bank in the United States, the Federal Reserve, would not let people fail,” said Rogers, pointing out that had former Fed chairman Alan Greenspan let Long Term Capital Management fail in 1998, both Bear Stearns, Fannie Mae and Lehman Brothers would still be in business, “because people would have taken such a hit, and so many people would have been fired, these bozos that were doing this sort of thing, that you would not have had these problems.”
“The way the system is supposed to work is when you make a mistake you go broke, he refused to let people go broke, he saved his friends and now we’re all having to pay for them,” added Rogers.
Asked if he had any respect for the World Bank and the IMF, Rogers responded, “Zero….the best thing that would happen would be if we could abolish the World Bank and the IMF, they were set up in 1945 and ‘46 with very sound goals and very sound aspirations – they have far far far left behind those aspirations and goals, they’re now run by people who do little more than take care of themselves….look at their projects and you would be mortified.”
In response to a question about what if any sectors would be profitable amidst the crash, Rogers advised people invested in stocks to “get yourself a tractor and learn how to farm”.

I agree with this man if he is talking about banks. CEO’s who were part of this should be fired immediately. Everyone else that relies on these people to make a living (Corporations) should be helped. They are the workers and they provide everything for everyone. If consumers had a reduced standard of living and less reliance on a corrupt banking system that over-extends credit at loan shark interest rates, many wouldn’t be forced now to foreclose on their homes or face bankruptcy.
Additionally, the desire to relocate your household and family to another country for whatever reason does not constitute treason.
Conspiring in secrecy to involve your country in warfare; the invasion and destruction of other nations based on lies and deception; continuous violation of international laws including blockading a million and a half people in a concentration camp which the Gaza Strip has become; the selling off of public resources under the guise of a “free trade agreement” and the resultant loss of a nations sovereignty are examples of what constitutes a treacherous and heinous act — and grounds to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.
Moving to another country because you don’t agree with the way yours is being governed hardly justifies the death penalty. If that were the case, we’d likely have to exterminate half the North American population.

Jim is a sensationalist and lacks understanding of economics. There is no economic reason whatsoever for the standard of living to decrease. Productivity marches on, one way or another. There was no economic “excess” over the past 15 years. There was only excessive banking parasitism and wholesale betrayal of the American industry – it was exported on US taxpayer’s dime. Don’t expect your house or land or money to be worth much if you country produces nothing better then the rest of the pack. Research on Glass-Steagall and deregulation of derivatives if you want to know how financial crime was legalized in this country. Everyone knows that the Federal Reserve and IMF are corrupt. The reason for it is not “excess” – its corrupt regulation and regulators. There is no economic cure for political corruption. Jim Rogers has his investments abroad and stands to profit from the fall of America. His talk is only aimed at pleasing his Chinese masters. Traitor.

“Traitor”! Treason against whom? Seems to me that my ancestors left Europe to start a better life here and it worked. Were they called “traitors”? No, rather those that had the guts to leaving a failing system of government and begin anew in country that had a written Constitution.

Here are some things that should be done to bring immediate relief:
1) Return Glass-Steagall and anti-usury laws in the books.
2) Ban derivative trading with borrowed money.
3) Let the banks fail and be acquired by smaller players (here I agree with Jim). Do NOT nationalize and do NOT bail out anybody. Bailouts only make things worse.
A lot of people agree with the last point – it is popular. So Jim is saying nothing new. But there is a lot more and it has to do with properly regulating the banks (including the Fed). Abolishing the Fed without proper regulation will be disastrous.

Alex is a good journalist but he is only a journalist, Jim is a fraud, Ron Paul and Schiff don’t quite grok economics and chase disastrous “yellow brick” fantasies. “Austrian economics” ? – give me a break. I agree with the gentleman above who remarked that Alex is a fraud. There is an MP3 from one of Bill Cooper’s shows back in January of the year 2000 that gives several examples in audio clip form of fear mongering on Alex’ part on Alex’ Dec 31st 1999 millenium show (do a web search and you will find it).
It would be hilarious if our current situation wasn’t so serious.
Furthermore, he only cover’s zionist actions when it’s necessary. If you notice many of Alex’ so called good friend’s Texe Marr’s, Charlotte Iserbyt, Lorraine Day etc., discuss zionism as the cause in depth on other patriot shows, with more evidence then a prosecutor would ever need to convict an individual or group in court.
