Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) has called for a probe into $70 billion worth of pay deals planned for employees of failed banking firms receiving government aid.
Kucinich said Sunday that he was directing his staff to immediately probe Wall Street firms that have received any portion of the $700 billion bailout plan recently passed by Congress, in response to a recent report by The Guardian outlining the firms’ dramatic drops in revenue, but not in executive compensation.
That Friday report showed that over $70 billion was to be allocated towards pay deals, including discretionary bonuses, at firms such as Goldman Sachs and Citigroup.
“When Congress placed restrictions on excessive executive pay, it had no intention of permitting business as usual with respect to bonus structures,” Kucinich said. “It would add insult to injury to ask taxpayers not only to bailout a firm, but to pay for bonuses as well. The Guardian’s report necessitates an immediate inquiry.”

Not 70 thousand, not 70 million but 70 BILLION freakin dollars for bonuses to CEO’s who’s companies committed fraud and failed as a business? The American people forget just how large a number a billion really is. All hell broke loose about a “bridge to nowhere” in Alaska that only cost 50 million. YOU CAN BUILD ONE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED BRIDGES TO NOWHERE WITH 70 BILLION!!!!
Thank you Mr. Kucinich for your fine work and go after these fraudsters. Why the hell isn’t every Congressman outraged? 70 Billion bullshit.

Pay deals? This was probably the true reason behind the “rescue” or “bailout.”
Kucinich will try but he will be stonewalled. And he has no power to force them to do anything. He’s probably just whining because he didn’t get financial PAC money like his pals did.

Besides less than 1% of the Democratic Party supported his run for the Presidency. He is obviously out of touch on the issue of rampant perpetration of Communism being promoted by the Democrats. What a nutcase.
