Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) is sticking to his drive to impeach President Bush.
Few in the House of Representatives have any intention of doing anything with the last 35 articles of impeachment Kucinich set before them last month, so the former presidential candidate appears to be lightening the load. Kucinich sent a letter to colleagues Tuesday asking them to support a single article of impeachment, to be introduced Thursday, which accuses President Bush of leading the country to war based on lies.
“There can be no greater offense of a Commander in Chief than to misrepresent a cause of war and to send our brave men and women into harm’s way based on those misrepresentations,” Kucinich wrote in the “Dear Colleague” letter.
“There has been a breach of faith between the Commander in Chief and the troops. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 or with Al Qaeda’s role in 9/11. Iraq had neither the intention nor the capability of attacking the United States,” he continued. “Iraq did not have weapons of Mass of Destruction. Yet George W. Bush took our troops to war under all of these false assumptions. Given the profound and irreversible consequences to our troops, if his decision was the result of a mistake, he must be impeached. Since his decision was based on lies, impeachment as a remedy falls short, but represents at least some effort on our part to demonstrate our concern about the sacrifices our troops have made.”
(Article continues below)
Last month, Kucinich presented 35 articles of impeachment. Those have since been referred to the Judiciary Committee, where they are expected to die. Kucinich threatened to double the number of impeachment articles if the Judiciary Committee did not act.
In a video message, Kucinich thanked supporters for responding to his Independence Day call for Bush’s impeachment. In the video, Kucinich said his threat for more articles was still operative and promised an update later this week.

Kucinich’s full letter to his colleagues is reprinted below:
Dear Colleague,
During the Fourth of July holiday a WWII veteran stood ram-rod straight in his crisp dress uniform and saluted our flag as it passed in a parade. His silent reverential stance was a powerful reminder of the love of country that is reflected in our veterans of all generations and all services.
It is also a powerful reminder of the responsibilities of the President of the Untied States in his capacity as Commander in Chief.
It is worse than heartbreaking that George W. Bush, as Commander in Chief, caused this country to go to war based on information which was false, and which he knew to be false. The consequences for our troops have been devastating. We have lost 4,116 of our beloved servicemen and women since the war began, with over 30,000 physically wounded and countless others emotionally wounded. The toll on the service persons and their families will be felt throughout their lives.
There can be no greater responsibility of a Commander in Chief than to command based on facts on the ground, and to command in fact and in truth. There can be no greater offense of a Commander in Chief than to misrepresent a cause of war and to send our brave men and women into harm’s way based on those misrepresentations.
There has been a breach of faith between the Commander in Chief and the troops. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 or with Al Qaeda’s role in 9/11. Iraq had neither the intention nor the capability of attacking the United States. Iraq did not have weapons of Mass of Destruction. Yet George W. Bush took our troops to war under all of these false assumptions. Given the profound and irreversible consequences to our troops, if his decision was the result of a mistake, he must be impeached. Since his decision was based on lies, impeachment as a remedy falls short, but represents at least some effort on our part to demonstrate our concern about the sacrifices our troops have made.
This Thursday evening I will bring a privileged resolution to the House with a single Article of Impeachment of President Bush for taking our nation and our troops to war based on lies. We owe it to our troops who even at this hour stand as sentinels of America because they love this country and will give their lives for it. What are we willing to do to match their valor and the valor of their successors? Are we at least willing to defend the Constitution from the comfort and security of our Washington, DC offices?
Sincerely,
Dennis J. Kucinich

They want a New World order so badly,,, Can’t we give them a example and round up all leaders, cohorts, and co-conspirators, and finish off what should have happened with the Neurenberg trials a few decades ago…
Free our World of those stupid Warmongers for once and for all.
Let the person who cries WAR, first kill his own family, thus…
Who wants war???

I am surprised that all of us who have taken the oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States are not able to eliminate the massive influence of the “Shadow Government” on draining our budget, hemorraging the dollar, eliminating foreign influence – or control of – on our legislature, and reigning in this rogue administration. Below is a letter to the editor on how I see things these days:
Regarding: Impeachment editorial on June 12, 2008
To: letters@sun-sentinel.com
Date: 16 Jun 2008
Ladies and Gentlemen:
This comment regards the Sun-Sentinel Editorial of June 12, 2008 to the effect that it is not necessary, indeed imprudent, for the Congress to pursue impeachment of a lame duck president regardless of the merit of the underlying action. The issue was framed by the editors as, “Some in Congress want an impeachment.” I’d frame the issue a bit differently.
ISSUE: Under the Constitution of the United States, what recourse is provided the people for”High Crimes and Misdemeanors” by a President?
The injured Party here is not the “some in Congress;” rather, it is the people of the United States. The people, who look to their elected representatives – and a free press – to safeguard the Republic and the interests of all Americans under our Constitution. It takes a bit of courage for a gentleman like Mr. Kucinich of Ohio, or Mr. Wexler of Florida, to stand up against the political wind to speak for the people and demand accountability. And there can be no doubt that, amid the 30-something counts of Mr. Kucinich’s draft resolution, there is indeed an allegation of “… Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors” against the Constitution and the Republic for which it stands. That remedy is impeachment:
“Section 4. The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” U.S. Const., Art. II, Sec. 4.
See also Art. II., Sec. 1 as to Oath of Office:
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” U.S. Const., Art.II, Sec. 4.
Action, however, need not delay until Judgment Day to safeguard the Republic. Far be it for any citizen, let alone one entrusted with the highest office in the land, to subvert the operation of Constitutional government, to include its Bill of Rights, whether for private purposes or in the words of an oath I once took, “filthy lucre.”

I like this idea… Neurenberg – The Final Chapter.
Another sure way to stop all wars would be to pass laws prohibiting any profits from army contracts.

I am feeling some sense of PRIDE in being an American again because of Congressman Kucinich. As I watch this country going down in flames because of this man’s decisions to put us in a war…and seeing my country say God bless America when God cannot bless America for such evils as this among many others…I feel some sense of hope again that perhaps if one man will stand in front of Congress and say THIS IS WRONG…PERHAPS there is a chance we can save this country.

American people who I dearly love, especially our troops who without regards to their own life, protect what liberties we have left. Mr Kucinich, I praise you for your actions even as they have fallen short because sir, you ARE NOT BACKED BY THE AMERICAN people who you sir, represent.
Wake up America and stand with Mr Kucinich and the Constitutution. Your rights have been breached, stolen from you, and waived in your face like a flag of dishonor. Your own government?
This is the 11th hour for justice. Justice for those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice, justice for those yet to pay, and justice for you and the ability to reclaim the rights given by our Forefathers.
If you sit back and let this unfold right before you, you are to blame.
Alex,
Rally us to victory in this absurd, disgusting, and blatent, in your face rogue government and lets hold those accountable for their actions!
After all sheeple, they hold you accountable for your actions do they not? They also hold you accountable for their’s as well. Are you to be so blind any longer?>
I AM an AMERICAN CITIZEN.

I give Kucinich the ultimate praise for what he is doing…..this man is making a true stride in ridding ourselves of this evil criminal in the White House. Everytime I think about the horrific reality of what is happening to the United States I just shudder. I simply can’t believe it! Do you guys realize that the United States, our beloved country is about to be destroyed and converted into a third world nation? Look at the destruction of the dollar, the selling out of large parts of the country to foreign nationals, the removal of our Constitutional freedoms, the signing of the North American Union and the preparation by the establishment to enslave us all ! As I walk outside or go to the grocery store….I see tons of people who walk around with no friggin clue at all as to what is about to happen. They walk around in a trance like state, totally oblivioous to the impending crash! Let me ask anyone who reads this….do we have any hope or are we truly finished?

- He is our last hope.
- No Yoda, there is another one.
The only hope left is for the People of the World to rise up together against the false governments. What will it take or when ?

Dear Sirs:
Ahhh! You’ll never impeach George Bush. You are Americans, after all. A whole nation of wild, crazy, stupid, religosists without a healthcare system to piss in and a child mortality rate worse than that of Nigeria (admittedly, the post-Biafra Nigeria, but Nigeria nonetheless).
All you have to do to stop anything reasonable happening in your benighted country is to say, “Look, look! X is trying to do something nasty to us.” (For X replace any, preferably forgein, entity: Commies, North Koreans, Vietnamese, even the lame little Cubans, the Cambodians, the Liberals, the New Davidians, the Domenicans, the Grenadians, the Iraquis (twice), the Iraninans, the Russians, the Chechyins, the Ukranians, the Serbians, the Croations, the Afghans, the Taliban, the Panamanians, the Palestanians, Mukhtada bin Sadr, Osama bin Ladin, Darwin… need I go on?)
You persistently elect obvious theives and rascals like G. Bush the Elder and G. Bush the Coke-snuffling Younger – twice. You argue about whether a President that deliberatly mislead his country to war with a series of blatant lies *deserves* to be hanged, as if there is some argument to be made against it. You argue about the “intelligent design” of life by the great, invisible “Booga-Woooga, him-live-um-up-in-sky”, while your babies die from a lack of medical care. You spend billions on the development of even more exotic, self-guiding and self-sustaining weapons of war that will eventally “terminate” the human race. All this while, your country burns merrily on the grand funeral pyres of Big Oil.
What scares us most is that you have huge stockpiles of Weapons of Mass Destruction, Biological, Gas and Nuclear. You appear not to have neither the maturity or nor the intelligence to NOT use them. And we live just North from you.
Suk-ah-hay-ruh-ah-heee!!

Canada has nuclear plants, makes and refines nuclear fuel, but also signed a law to never use or produce nuclear material for warheads… much just like Iran! Yet, Canada is not part of the Axis of Evil… but be because we have governments that go along with the American governments.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:48 am
Kucinich and Ron Paul are the two men I admire most in this election!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Hey Living in Fear to the North, take it easy with all the name calling. G.W wasn’t elected by the majority of people in this country, he was appointed by the Supreme Court. And the 2004 election was a total scam that our mainstream media refused to investigate. I agree with you that we have A LOT of people that are asleep, but this problem is global. (Just look at how hard the BBC is trying to debunk the truth about 9-11.) Bottom line, plenty of us down here to the south are working to change things.
July 9th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
To my scared friend up “North”,
You can spew all the truth we know in our face all you want if your intent is to render us(a people)retarded in our actions. But if I were you, I would seriously look at backing the few of us who are standing up because when your “border” is erased and the North American Union becomes a reality as a “fix” to the collapsed(and I do mean collapsed) dollar, you WILL BE ONE WITH US.
So shut up and fight.
It is your future to my friend.
From an AMERICAN to a CANADIAN with the utmost respect

Lying a country into a war causing the deaths of thousands of troops and hundreds of thousands of civilians is an impeachable offense in my books.
July 9th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
Better watch out with impeaching the Pres… that would put Cheney in charge and we all know he’s the orchestrator of 9-11!
July 9th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Gheehz Come on get real you guy’s read the NSPD 51 / HSPD 20 , there’s no way Dennis Kucinich or Robert Wexler will get the help they’ll need for impeachment , because the congress has already signed off on us going to Iran if you read the NSPD ACTs go ahead Google it up and listen to Dr.Jerome Corsi PHD Harvard explain it to you all on C-SPAN July 24th 2007 airing . now I must be hushed

The question “If you could go back in time and prevent Hitler from being born, would you be willing to do it?” has been asked many times.
Why not ask the same question, but with Bush’s name in place of Hitler’s?
And then again… a nation that sees itself as a democratic beacon of hope for the world (the US population loves to see itself in the role of the liberator, the “hero” the salvation to everything evil)… that nation has NO right to complain about it’s government’s bad behaviour, simply because the PEOPLE are responsible for their government. IF the government is doing something against the interests of the people, it is STILL the responsibility of the people to make things right. Not in 4 years or whatever, but NOW!
THAT is how a democracy would be working.
When you all bicker about “oh, but it’s not MY fault… it’s the corrupt politicians…” blah, blah, blah… then you are only showing your own complicity in the crimes carried out.
It takes a HUMAN BEING to stand up and do the right thing…. so far, there are only the Iraqis and the Afghanis standing up and doing something about the UNRIGHTS that are being forced upon them. They have the courage and will to fight for what is right. American cowards are only willing to yap-yap about what they’d like… without ever being willing to risk anything at all.
I say to you, the people of America: If you want CHANGE, you MAKE the change! You ARE the power. What would your evil government do if a couple of millions of you would march against them and demand their resignation?
They would wet their pants! But that’s not going to happen, is it? Cowardice is too easy to accept for you all?
Before you point your fingers at ME, you should remember that I do NOT live in your country… YOU DO! Last time I checked, Iceland (my country) had not invaded or abused any other nation…. so keep them fingers pointed at your very selves!
