US Senator Joe Lieberman, the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, has asked Google to step-up its efforts to crack-down on jihadist content posted on its Blogger platform.
In a letter to Google CEO Larry Page, Lieberman asked that Google must implement means to crack down on Blogger users who published anti-west, jihadist content on the platform and add a Flag button that allows users to report offensive and dangerous content.
The letter comes after the New York Police Department arrested 27-year-old Jose Pimentel of Manhattan on state terrorism charges, plotting to build bombs, with the help of the internet, targeting police and post offices.
He also had a blog on Blogger through which he remained connected with other extremists and posted hate-filled content on the platform.
