Man Pulled Over By Cops, Visited By Secret Service Over Anti-Obama Sign
Exercising First Amendment could be “construed as a threat”

An Oklahoma City man was pulled over by police and later visited at home by the secret service for displaying an anti-Obama sign.
According to a report in The Oklahoman, the sign, which read “Abort Obama Not the Unborn,” was seized from motorist Chip Harrison’s car by police officers who cited it as a possible “threat against President Obama”.
A lieutenant supervisor later called Mr Harrison to inform him that the Secret Service had been contacted on the matter.
When Mr Harrison returned home he found secret service agents waiting for him.
”When I was on my way there, the Secret Service called me and said they weren’t going to ransack my house or anything … they just wanted to (walk through the house) and make sure I wasn’t a part of any hate groups.” Harrison is quoted as saying.
The agents interviewed Mr Harrison for 30 minutes and then left, deeming him not to be a threat.

The police returned the sign to Mr Harrison and admitted that it was a violation of his constitutional rights to have taken it, as police spokesman Steve McCool explains in the following video:
Mr Harrison has said he feels his First Amendment rights were violated and is taking legal advice on the matter.
The incident is similar to a report we carried last year detailing how two friends from Las Vegas were pulled over, asked for identification and searched all due to the fact that they had Ron Paul and Infowars bumper stickers on the back of their car.

Here’s a way to speak out. We’re going to have a general strike on Memorial Day weekend. Everyone can take part for at least one hour, even if it’s at the family picnic. Even holding a sign “on strike” will generate talk. Even truckers at the truck stop can do it. Doctors and nurses can certainly find one hour over the three day weekend to do it. Teachers can hold a ‘teach-in’ about what it means in Latin countries to have a Gen. Strike. Like in Argentina, where the gov’t gunned down thousands and killed the strike.
The two major impediments to a genstrike are ‘no time’, and ‘no money’. So this solves both those problems. You fulfill your patriotic duties, and you don’t lose any money.

It’s all a tempest in a teapot probably, but the guy seems like he’s an idiot. It’s not really very news worthy. It’s the job of the Secret Service to question people who make statements that indicate they might want to off the president. So they investigated.
The Secret Service can ask if they can look around your house. Do you blame them for trying?
If the guy is clueless enough to let the police search his house without asking for a warrant then he gets what he deserves. If they had found something against him he would have been screwed.
Can you imagine the following discussion in court?
Lawyer: Your honor, I’d like to dismiss this evidence against my client?
Judge: On what grounds?
Lawyer: On the grounds that is completely destructive to our case. Besides, the police didn’t have a search warrant!
Judge: They didn’t need one. Your client invited them in, made them lunch and said it was okay to search.

You can’t abort someone who is already born. The word ‘abort’ in this sense means to stop the action, not kill.
It doesn’t say anything about murdering oBUMa, and we should be able to say anything we want as long as there isn’t immediate danger to someone by doing so. In fact that is the real law. there is a definite difference between skin deep dwellers vs. people of principle. What leads to corruption is the principality seed. I hope this guy sues Hell out of the thug cops that even stopped him. If you are ever visited by any government thugs, first, ask if they have a warrant. If they have none, order them off your property as trespassers and cuss them as they go. If they refuse to go call your local law enforcement and prefer charges. many people are caught up in *their* religion because it’s the only perspective they have. most people have never spent much time traveling in either their own country or abroad. i used to be catholic and the rest of my family still is and has never lived outside our hometown. i love ‘em to death, but it’s amazing how close minded they are about certain subjects.
i’m a computer contractor and I’ve lived all of the US and done engineering work abroad. i have catholic, protestant, jewish, agnostic and a few atheist friends. i judge them on their personal honor and integrity. anything less and your selling themselves and yourself short.

Simply astounding. A simple exercise of the First Amendment, even one lacking in existential proximity, is now sufficient cause for a visit from the SS. I can attest first hand to the absurdity of the Secret Service as I had my own encounter with two agents at my home a little over a year ago. In my case, albeit an overall indefensible affront to the First Amendment by the Philadelphia Secret Service Field Office, there was at least a “justifiable” pretense for the visit. On December 22, 2007, I confronted former president William J. Clinton at Hillary rally during which I shook his hand and scolded him for his New World Order rhetoric and Bilderberg affiliation. At the time of the event, the Secret Service did not pursue me as I casually left the event, nor did they even attempt to speak to me. Instead the SS waited until three days later to spring on me at my home, where my mother invited them into the house and I gave them an earful about the First and how they were in violation of their Constitutional duties.

OK, I’m a big supporter of free speech, but there are reasonable limits to that right. A bumper sticker stating to “Abort Obama …” could reasonably be considered a death threat against the President of the United States (whomever he/she may be), which could be a threat to national security.
I think this matter was handled properly under the circumstances.

Go to any dictionary and check the various definitions of this word.
A very appropriate one is given by the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary:
transitive verb – 2 a: to terminate prematurely : cancel b: to stop in the early stages .
But we must admit that it works with both senses, hence its irony.

The dictionary definition is politically “correct”. When one aborts a baby, one is actually murdering the baby. The bumper sticker in question states to Abort Obama not babies, hence a reasonable person could interpret that to mean to murder Obama. So death threats against the President of the United States are illegal. The SS acted properly by investigating the matter. They determined that this individual was not a threat to the president and dropped the issue. They acted within the law.

Since Abort also means to Terminate, the Obvious intention of the sign was to “terminate the current holder of the puppet title, president, as opposed to terminating (read:abort) unborn babies.
