Mayer: Top DOJ Lawyers Spoke ‘In Codes’ For Fear Of Being Wiretapped By White House ‘Lunatics’

Last night on PBS, Bill Moyers interviewed investigative journalist Jane Mayer and mentioned that in Mayer’s new book, she notes that FBI agents refused to participate in the CIA’s interrogation of terror suspects at Guantánamo Bay because they determined it to be “borderline torture.” Moyers then asked, “Who were some of the other conservative heroes, as you call them, in your book?”
Mayer remembered one top Justice Department lawyer and “very conservative member of this administration” who said that after participating in White House meetings authorizing torture, he believed that “lunatics had taken over the country.”
Mayer said two other top DOJ lawyers had to develop a system of speaking codes because they feared they were being wiretapped while others described an “atmosphere of intimidation,” mainly from Vice President Dick Cheney:
MAYER: There was such an atmosphere of intimidation. … They felt so endangered in some ways that, at one point, two of the top lawyers from the Justice Department developed this system of talking in codes to each other because they thought they might be being wiretapped…by their own government. They felt like they might be kind of weirdly in physical danger. They were actually scared to stand up to Vice President Cheney.

Mayer later said that “there is a paper trail” documenting U.S. torture policies “that goes right to the top of our govenment” and that Congress “is beginning to” get to the truth and “piece it together.”
Mayer added that the truth to the White House policies is “a humungous jigsaw puzzle” because “there are many, many secrets we still don’t know. There are legal memos that nobody’s ever seen.”

Any historical figures come to mind when looking at Cheyney? I think Cheney is a modern-day Rasputin figure: perhaps sexually deviant, certainly exerting hegemony over weak-willed formal rulers, and maybe insane as well, or at least possessed of a bizarre certitude.
But then again, that would make Bush the Tzar. On this one, I think I’ll join the Sheeple and and embrace rigorously self-imposed ignorance. Can’t handle THAT much truth…..

Well of course the FBI did not want part of that, at least THEY are still somewhat for America, where as the scumsucking CIA are ALL foreigners, thay don’t give a crap about the U.S. They are owned and operated by the NWO.

FYI-The FBI only has jurisdiction inside the US. The CIA has no legal jurisdiction inside the US. The CIA regularly operates inside the US. The FBI regularly operates outside the US. What a coincidence.

Cheney and his personal sexual preferences were described exhaustively a decade ago in the classic book “Tranceformation of America” by Kathy O’Brien & Mark Phillips. Do a Google search. Deviant? That’s putting it mildly. Some people commit torture as part of foreplay.

Since the CIA was heavily involved in the cocaine drops when Clinton was working Arkansas and basically re-defined kidnapping techniques, all of which can be learned if people read a few books by former CIA agents. America is now a Nazi state.

Americans who believe in the Constitution must now speak in code for fear those who swore to uphold the Constitution are actually criminals flaunting the fact they feel they can make any laws needed to cover thier tracks. Even when you cover up your tracks, someone somewhere is aware of the War Crimes the Bush Administration has openly declared to be legal and know it is shakey ground they stand on.

First off, Publius, you are a coward. You know whats going on, or, think you do, and then you want to “join the sheeple and embrace self imposed ignorance because you can’t handle that much truth” We would be better off without your kind. As to the subject matter, It wasn’t to long ago that we were the ones pointing the fingers at Russia and elsewhere for their “stupidity” in not seeing the warning signs, and now its our turn, and we have become blind. Because we “just can’t handle it” We deserve to become slaves, then.

The FBI turned their back,didn’t want to get involved with these wrong doers.WTF ! They are the FBI.They are to arrest these law breakers.See our government bought into the Trendy Downsizing to cut jobs in several departments to save money & when they got to the CIA & FBI these guys had to show that they should not be cut.That they were needed.So……9/11 was the Collateral Damage Timothy McVeigh told us about.That our gov.does all the time. DITTO! To bad the CIA & FBI got missed in all that Trendy Downsizing.Guess they showed us that they were needed.Had to rethink this & add more jobs,minus Tenet & O’Neil the one Tenet set up for a fall.What goes around…………..
