Media Forced To Backtrack On Al-Qaeda Link To Mumbai Attacks
But attacks which have a purely domestic agenda are blown out of all proportion by corporate media as poster child for ailing war on terror

After brazenly declaring that the Mumbai attacks were the work of Al-Qaeda, the corporate media has been forced to backtrack, while India continues to blame Pakistan in a dangerous escalation of rhetoric between the two nuclear-armed powers.
Bellicose propaganda about Bin Laden being behind the massacre, which was initially propagated by the BBC, London Times and Fox News amongst others, has largely evaporated, with the majority of the establishment press being forced to admit they have no idea who was behind the siege on India’s financial capital.
However, India’s claim that Pakistan had a hand in the attacks is beginning to find favor in the U.S., where one counterterrorism official told CNN, “the level of sophistication in the attack leads officials to believe that it might be tied to Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (Army of the Pure), an Islamic extremist group that has carried out previous attacks in India.”
Lashkar-e-Tayyiba would be a useful scapegoat because it has alleged links both to Al-Qaeda and Pakistani’s ISI secret service, but since the group has vehemently denied responsibility and terrorists normally like to claim responsibility for their handiwork, any attempt to pin the blame is likely to run out of steam. Lashkar-e-Tayyiba always claim responsibility for their attacks, so their outright denial is the death knell for this explanation.

That India would immediately exploit the tragedy to demonize their arch-enemy Pakistan was fully expected, but how Pakistan, which has recently made numerous peaceful overtures towards India, could possibly benefit from crazed terrorists indiscriminately gunning down innocent people in shocking scenes played out on international television defies belief.
But that reasoning did not prevent India’s Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee from telling a press conference today that, “Preliminary evidence, prima facie evidence, indicates elements with links to Pakistan are involved.”
In reality, as we have repeatedly emphasized, the attacks were likely not the work of Al-Qaeda, Pakistan, the Mossad or the CIA, but Indian Muslims.
As author Tariq Ali points out today, “The Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, has insisted that the terrorists were based outside the country. The Indian media has echoed this line of argument with Pakistan (via the Lashkar-e-Taiba) and al-Qaeda listed as the usual suspects.”
“But this is a meditated edifice of official India’s political imagination. Its function is to deny that the terrorists could be a homegrown variety, a product of the radicalization of young Indian Muslims who have finally given up on the indigenous political system. To accept this view would imply that the country’s political physicians need to heal themselves.”
“Why should it be such a surprise if the perpetrators are themselves Indian Muslims? Its hardly a secret that there has been much anger within the poorest sections of the Muslim community against the systematic discrimination and acts of violence carried out against them of which the 2002 anti-Muslim pogrom in shining Gujarat was only the most blatant and the most investigated episode, supported by the Chief Minister of the State and the local state apparatuses.”
“Add to this the continuing sore of Kashmir which has for decades been treated as a colony by Indian troops with random arrests, torture and rape of Kashmiris an everyday occurrence. Conditions have been much worse than in Tibet, but have aroused little sympathy in the West where the defense of human rights is heavily instrumentalised.”
The identity and motive behind the terrorists is reasonably clear, these young men are disenfranchised, revenge-driven Indian Muslims, along with a smattering of Pakistanis, Kashmiris and Bangladeshis, based in India not Pakistan, who hate Hindus and believe it is their duty to kick-start a wider tribal war, which is why the vast majority of those killed were Indians, not foreigners, Brits or Americans.
The terrorists were not dispatched on their mission by the Pakistan government or Osama bin Laden, they are mostly Indians who represent a domestic problem for the Indian government, which is why the authorities are seeking to deflect blame and exploit the tragedy to demonize Pakistan in the eyes of the international community.
The spin that the terrorists deliberately targeted American and British citizens is still being pumped out by the western corporate media, despite the fact that only one Briton died, himself being originally from Cyprus, in comparison to well over a hundred Indians, and despite the fact that the rampage was a completely indiscriminate massacre.
The western propaganda machine has taken a domestic problem, which expresses itself almost on a monthly basis in India with routine bombings and attacks, and amplified it beyond all proportion to claim that the attacks were an assault on western democracy, capitalism, and ultimately the Anglo-American power alliance.
The horrible slaughter of hundreds of mostly Indian civilians in Mumbai will now be used as a poster child for continued bombing campaigns inside Pakistani territory and an expansion of the ailing war on terror under President elect Barack Obama, which in the long term only means that more innocent lives will be lost.

I couldn’t agree more. Today in Sydney’s Murdoch-owned Daily Telegraph, was a typical subliminal brainwashing that Murdoch loves to employ to further his New World Order agenda. In the same spread was – on the left an heroic story about an Australian soldier who died fighting the Taliban; on the right a list of quotes from almost every Western world leader of note, including our own Kevin Rudd and your own Obama, denouncing the Mumbai attacks and proclaiming the need to fight terrorism. Two unrelated stories justifying and pre-empting the need to go to war again. Isn’t there a PATTERN here?
Will they somehow manage to link this to Iran or Syria?

She says she was buying papayas when she noticed three men on a motorcycle stopping on the road and taking out “big guns”.
“They wore white jeans and T-shirts. They were shouting, getting agitated and waved their guns around.
“I dropped my shopping and began walking away towards my hotel. Minutes later, a friend called up saying that there had been a bloody incident of firing in the area,” she says.

As the two girls fell near the cafe, he saw the two men quickening their steps towards the Taj Mahal hotel further up the road.
A few minutes later, gunfire was heard from the hotel, and much later, Mr Amir heard that gunmen had taken guests hostage.

P.S In response to the article. India Muslims are not that well organized. If they were, wouldn’t they have done something when their people were slaughtered along with Christians in Gujarat . No one can be so quick to blame anyone here until more evidence comes out.
I asked myself this question after 9/11. Who has the most to gain? How does a homegrown Muslim group benefit from this? One Jewish couple is killed and automatically Muslims are blamed? I personally don’t have the answers, but I have been listening to my India friends who have more knowledge about India politics than Paul Watson, they are leaning towards they believe it is a false flag operation. Some of them are leaning toward the ‘Hindutva terror core’ others think it could be Pakistan. The Muslims in the north are very poor and not well educated.
Lets get all the facts together including the understanding of their own domestic policies. In all due respect Paul, I don’t know if you really are aware of many of India’s domestic issues. Whether it is Muslims, intelligence agencies, local extremist Hindu groups or extremist Muslim groups lets first look at the history, domestic politics.
You know that the train bomb was a false flag operation. I have been to India and took time to ask about the local issues. Even North India and South Indians are so different.

British Authorship of Mumbai Terror Spilling Out
November 28, 2008 (LPAC)–London newspapers are headlining British involvement in the ongoing terror attacks in Mumbai, India.
The London Mirror, November 28, headlined its coverage: “SEVEN MUMBAI GUNMEN ARE FROM `LEEDS AND HARTLEPOOL’” and continued, “Seven of the terrorists … are British, Indian government sources claimed yesterday. They said two British-born Pakistanis are under arrest. And another five suspects are said to have been born and raised here.
“Two of the seven are from Leeds, one is from Bradford and one from Hartlepool, the sources claimed…. The Hartlepool suspect was allegedly found in the … Taj Mahal Palace hotel. …. The man from Bradford and one from Leeds were allegedly discovered on the 17th floor of the Oberoi-Trident Hotel…. A second man from Leeds was allegedly captured near a jetty after a gang of around 25 terrorists landed in Mumbai by boat on Wednesday.
“The suspects were allegedly found with documentation, possibly including passports, which revealed their origin. The sources say they also spoke to each other in a heavily-accented Punjabi common in UK Pakistani communities.”
The Mirror reports that British Prime Minister “Gordon Brown yesterday urged caution, saying it was premature to draw any conclusions. He said Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had not told of him of any evidence at this stage that Britons were behind the massacres.”
The Mirror comments, “If the terrorists are Britons, the UK security service will have to urgently discover how they slipped through the surveillance net…. Since the early 2000s Britain has had an unwelcome reputation as a haven for Islamic radicals.”
The Daily Telegraph headlined its story, “MUMBAI ATTACKS: ARE THEY BRITISH? British police have flown to India to establish whether any of the terrorists who killed 150 people in the Bombay massacre had links to the UK.”
The Evening Standard, under the headline “Mumbai siege gunmen are from Britain,” reports that Security sources have told the Standard that “it is known that dozens of British-born Pakistanis have traveled to Pakistan in recent years to train in its [terrorist] camps. One source said recently: `The camps are full and many of the people inside are Brits.”
Briefed on the two Brits being arrested as gunmen in Mumbai, Lyndon LaRouche said: “This phenomenon is suggestively similar to the number of Saudis or people with Saudi pedigrees who were involved in the 9/11 attacks in the U.S. in 2001.”

In light of the ongoing Mumbai attack, it is noteworthy that the Steinberg memo to Albright began by noting that the issue of Britain’s role in supporting international terrorism “has been recently highlighted, as the result of the December 1999 Indian Airlines hijacking, and the response of the British government to the request of one of the freed Kashmiri terrorists, Ahmed Omar Sheikh, to be given safe passage to England. Mr. Sheikh, a British national, was tried and convicted in India, for his role in the kidnapping of four British nationals and an American in 1995. He was sentenced to five years in prison on November 1988. Initially, the British government announced that it would provide Mr. Sheikh with safe passage to Britain, and would not prosecute him or make any effort to extradite him back to India.”
The recurring pattern, documented in the EIR memorandum, was that the British government provided safe-haven and political protection, as well as financing, to known terrorists, and turned a blind eye when mosques in Britain were used as recruiting grounds for terrorists, who were then sent to training camps, and on to live operations. Russia strongly protested the role of British mosques in recruiting terrorists who went for training in Afghanistan, throughout the 1990s, and wound up in Chechnya.

In no way are the Constitution or the Bill of Rights Christian documents. The philosophical underpinnings of each of these documents stem from Locke and Cooke, primarily Locke.
