Cinema-GOERS may be searched on the way into shows in a new crackdown on suicide bombers.
Theatres, restaurants and hotels will also be covered in an anti-terror blueprint to be published by Security Minister Lord West later this year.
Diners, hotel guests and theatre-goers could all have to undergo searches.

And designers of public buildings will need to get security advice from “police architectural liaison officers” on how to make buildings bomb-proof. “We are developing guidance to explain the Government’s approach to protection,” said Lord West.
From next month owners of pubs, bars and clubs will also be able to take part in exercises with police to make their premises safe.
Using multi-media DVD simulation they will be told how to spot suspicious customers and evacuate their buildings.

Good job, now Britain can sleep safe at night, knowing that no more suicide bombers will ravage her streets!

Right.. so, lets see now.
Have I forgotten or missed something or is Britain inundated with suicide bombers???
I lived in England for several years, and I know what it was like to be evacuated from the tube, areas cordoned off by police etc due to bombs.
I also remember this:
When a bomb was to be detonated, the “PERPETRATORS” (in this case the IRA) would call up in advance.
This was standard public knowledge.
WHY would they do this?
For a variety of reasons I believe, one of which was credulity in their claims of having placed the devices. They could claim that they were indeed responsible, as anyone could call in after the fact.
Most people know this or have forgotten or just wonder why this doesnt apply anymore.
A bit off-topic perhaps, but in the slew of such draconian “security” measures and personal infringements, the whole situation looks absurd in light of the fact that in a time where there WERE bombs going off all to regularly such matters could have been implemented but never were.
One question is WHY?
Why now?
Why not then?
Another absurdity with all this is that any “suicide bomber” with any normal intelligence and linguistics would know about such precautions, and with a bit of creativity will find ways around this.
So, question 2:
What are the laws intended for other than psychological subversion of the citizens and good people living in Britain with the intention of creating an extremely anti-social fear based society?
On that note, the 7/7 bombers NEVER claimed responsibility beforehand, nor did Bin Ladin on 9-11.
It was all to be found out AFTER the fact, through the much questioned video confessions, shown many months and even years after the tragedies.
Wouldn’t well planned, extremists (having planned such attacks well in advance) have thought about this and perhaps simply mailed out press releases and confessions to hundreds of people?
Or is buying a laser printer, pc and a few hundred envelopes ALWAYS beyond their capabilities?
I mean, any terrorist organization who truly did hate the Freedoms of the west would have gained such “respectability” and all the sadistic new recruits they would have needed right?
And one last thing.
Does this new security measure perhaps imply a preparedness for a known future scenario not yet implemented?

Well this sounds like a sure way to stop people from going to those businesses now doesn’t it? I would no longer frequent any business that requires me to be searched before I can go see a movie or eat dinner, I feel it is not worth the time or the loss of my personal freedom. Now please note that I do not condone a bomber but I feel this is the government programming the people using fear and no real threat.

no fuckin way! that will close to many businesses, not a fuuckin chance! most people in the uk know its bull shit but wont bother to do anything, most people will ignore this shit and a few will get locked up, might as well burn my own money

Pretty soon they will outlaw the use of forks and knives in restaurants. Any “suspicious” patrons attempting to wield such weapons of mass cutlery will be arrested and tried as a terrorist.
We all know how deadly those BOX CUTTERS were. . .

Searches performed by WHOM?? Are they going to hire so many cops that they can post one at every local business now, or are they going to hire swarms of private security guards with their out-of-control power trips and High School GED’s? The answer to this one is simple … When they require a patdown, you simply refuse, let the establishment know that you refuse, and turn around and leave. HappyRichie didn’t have it quite right. They can’t lock you up for walking away. When enough people simply turn and walk, the businesses will lose sufficient revenues to rethink and quickly kill this ridiculous idea.

i live between two trendy foreign restaurants in nyc does that mean every time i as an american walk in and out of my building is seen as a terrorist cause i am not of the restaurants country?
