Mumbai Witness: ‘Armed police would not fire back’

It is the photograph that has dominated the world’s front pages, casting an astonishing light on the fresh-faced killers who brought terror to the heart of India’s most vibrant city. Now The Independent can reveal how the astonishing picture came to be taken by a newspaper photographer who hid inside a train carriage as gunfire erupted all around him.
Sebastian D’Souza, a picture editor at the Mumbai Mirror, whose offices are just opposite the city’s Chhatrapati Shivaji station, heard the gunfire erupt and ran towards the terminus. “I ran into the first carriage of one of the trains on the platform to try and get a shot but couldn’t get a good angle, so I moved to the second carriage and waited for the gunmen to walk by,” he said. “They were shooting from waist height and fired at anything that moved. I briefly had time to take a couple of frames using a telephoto lens. I think they saw me taking photographs but theydidn’t seem to care.”
The gunmen were terrifyingly professional, making sure at least one of them was able to fire their rifle while the other reloaded. By the time he managed to capture the killer on camera, Mr D’Souza had already seen two gunmen calmly stroll across the station concourse shooting both civilians and policemen, many of whom, he said, were armed but did not fire back. “I first saw the gunmen outside the station,” Mr D’Souza said. “With their rucksacks and Western clothes they looked like backpackers, not terrorists, but they were very heavily armed and clearly knew how to use their rifles.

“Towards the station entrance, there are a number of bookshops and one of the bookstore owners was trying to close his shop,” he recalled. “The gunmen opened fire and the shopkeeper fell down.”
But what angered Mr D’Souza almost as much were the masses of armed police hiding in the area who simply refused to shoot back. “There were armed policemen hiding all around the station but none of them did anything,” he said. “At one point, I ran up to them and told them to use their weapons. I said, ‘Shoot them, they’re sitting ducks!’ but they just didn’t shoot back.”
As the gunmen fired at policemen taking cover across the street, Mr D’Souza realised a train was pulling into the station unaware of the horror within. “I couldn’t believe it. We rushed to the platform and told everyone to head towards the back of the station. Those who were older and couldn’t run, we told them to stay put.”
The militants returned inside the station and headed towards a rear exit towards Chowpatty Beach. Mr D’Souza added: “I told some policemen the gunmen had moved towards the rear of the station but they refused to follow them. What is the point if having policemen with guns if they refuse to use them? I only wish I had a gun rather than a camera.”

Is this another false flag operation? There is 1 similarity with WTC on 911. In the Taj Hotel, security was relzxed a week before and bomb sniffing dogs were removed. Sound familiar? The same thing happen at the WTC before the 911 attacks. This makes me believe this was another INSIDE JOB using their agents. When the U.S. Intelligence are ready to announce “Pakistan did itm,” I suggest we look at the culprits in the Whitehouse.

Why were no terrorists taken alive? Did law enforcement try to capture terrorist/s but they killed themselves? The war on terror(?) is stonewalled when terrorists are not captured alive to question them about logistics (Who, where, why, how) of the attack. Basically, no way to prove who was behind the attack…who benefits from this. Also, in response to “Dawn.” You sound like a good litle victim who will believe anything your gov’t tells you but if it is controversial or out of your comfort zone, you need “video.” Sheeple!!!!

Basically, the argument so goes that the US wants to strengthen itself against Russia and China. Aim #1 fullly destabilize Pakistan and even cause breakup. Aim #2 Weaken China’s affiliations (Pakistan and Sudan). Aim #3 Strengthen relationship with India as ally.
The US has drones and special forces attacking Pakistan already. So the war with Pakistan is already underway. Every war has a pretext (Iraq was WMD, and 911) for all of the war mongering this time, the setup was Obama’s strange presidential speeches when he outright called for war (unilateral attacks) on Pakistan.
What you can expect this time:
1) No real ferreting out of the head of the terrorist group (lots of allegations and linkages though)
2) Ambiguous stupid ideas of what this group wanted – “We were angry because of Kashmir” with no real evidence
3) No open trials
4) A lot of those involved will be killed so they can’t talk, and absolutely no clairyt on those behind the scenes
5) The media will continue to eat up every rotten story
7) A lot of Israeli “support”, interviews by their ministers/foreign nationals, large denouncing statements about the “terrorist ideology” which needs to be dealt with by large military operations.
You just need a few incidents to create the idea “terrorists” everywhere, and then you can use that as a guise for almost every international military operations.
Dawn – it is well publicized that the government has Psy-Ops and Social Engineering people at the highest levels. Israel spends massive dollars within the US on marketing. Why do you think this is, if not to control and shape the masses and make them “ready” for what’s gonna go down.

CNN reports that one terrorist (conventiently) was taken alive. He’s singing like a canary claiming they traveled the high seas from Pakistan. If this person was really part of the plot, I’m guessing he was the chief coordinator and the one who would be connected to the directors of this incident, which some believe are the Mossad and possibly CIA.
There must have been a stand-down order issued to the police to allow this to happen. It would explain why they were able to make their way through the city unchallenged. Only an internal conspiracy could have achieved this, and the order would have had to have come from high up in the police and/or military ranks.

Not shooting back I noticed is a common theme. it’s easy in the acadamy under controled conditions to imagine your john wayne, but in the real world it just isn’t so.I havn’t ever seen any medal of honor winners that were big husky burly men, it’s always the small skinny guys who’s been terrorized all his life by bullys who steps up to bat and does the mans job.

I think armed police have a different mindset than armed soldiers. Police are trained to use the guns as a last resort,soldiers are trained to shoot first ask questions later.. not that i want soldiers in railway stations or on the streets. Indians I have met are peaceful folks on the whole. maybe the police in the station shit em selves? I thought they would kill all the gunmen tho.. ITS A BIT FISHY

Thats tru wiggins.. there was a lot behind menendes we prob will never know. I think he saw or knew somthing that put him in the firing line. That followed another false flag op(in my opinion). There was a lot going on in london at that time.. too much for most people to take on board.. I heard an interveiw with Alex 2 or so years after 7/7 with a londoner called Daniel? he was on the bus that exploded..sounded a credible eye winess..he had a website and said a lot of interesting stuff. Do you (or other posters) remember him?
Any way that was a rare occurence for british police(if it was police who shot him)….

He had a gun shot wound in the hand, but he’s being “co-operative” according to Indian police. Hmm, can we say something a little stronger than “Water-Boarding”? Do not discount the Indian police. I think this would have been substantially different here in the US. Our cops are increasingly taught to capture with less than lethal force.
I seriously doubt US commandos would have been dispatched as quickly and air lifted to the roofs of targets for S&D. This goes back to the 2nd amendment. Remember the Virginia tech massacre? If the staff had been armed, the death toll would not have been 30+. I advocate that CCW’s should be allowed and the American people in general be granted sweeping gun rights. I know this was a Hollywood scenario, but in Police Academy, the crook pulled his gun in the cop bar and was instantly besieged with 20-30 handguns pointed directly art him.
An armed citizen=protection, police backup and lowers violent crime. But just try to get the left wing red-diaper-doper babies on board with that one. Its not going to happen.

While in general I believe the army and marines would kill civilians without a second thought if ordered. Pilots are a different breed. It takes a higher level of education and intelligence to pilot an aircraft so I believe the rate of refusal would be much higher.

I think the armed police were scared. They had no true swat training like in US. Even a medium size swat team here could have contained the hotel better. Secondly, they might have figured they had no chance. Most cops can’t take on true trained special forces like in the movies. These acts were planned perfectly for thanksgiving so people would be watching in large numbers.
