Muse tell Glenn Beck to retract endorsement

Glenn Beck, the Fox News commentator, was forced to withdraw an endorsement for the British rock band Muse after they complained that he misrepresented their political beliefs.
Beck, an outspoken conservative known for his caustic attacks on Barack Obama, praised a song on the band’s new album The Resistance for warning against the dangers of “one world government”.
Describing their music as “absolutely fantastic”, Beck implied that the band members shared his concern about the centralisation of power by liberal politicians.
He repeatedly compared the lyrics of United States of Eurasia to George Orwell’s anti-totalitarian novel 1984, in which the world is divided into three superstates including Eurasia.
“These guys are brilliant, they know the time that we live in. They are libertarians from England,” he said on his nationally syndicated talk radio show, The Glenn Beck Program.

Did anyone click on FULL ARTICLE HERE and go to see the story as it was printed on The Telegraph website? Only the full article claims that he was messing around and wasn’t actually contacted by Muse or their representatives? Has the Telegraph story been altered or was the article above truncated at just the right point? I was going to make a joke about Super Massive Beck’s Hole, but it seems this is a non story…..

I’m not saying this guy Beck isn’t a total cocksucker. Lots of people here seem to think he is, but I live in the UK and have never heard of him, so I wouldn’t know. Just not really getting the importance of this story. Read the Telegraph article and enlighten me.

The story would be important if you were American. Obviously, not knowing Beck it lacks importance. The political movement started by Ron Paul and others who believe in the constitution of the United States with limited government control and power of the people are now calling them selves Libertarians. Beck, a political talk show host, known to be a neo-conservative is now pretending he is a libertarian, but being a liar and phony assclown, he is totally discrediting the political movement each day he airs his show. So that, I guess, summarizes the whole story and its importance.

Glenn Beck ‘was joking about Muse complaint’
Glenn Beck, the Fox News commentator, was joking when he claimed that the British rock band Muse had asked him to withdraw an endorsement for their music, it has emerged.

Beck, an outspoken conservative known for his caustic attacks on Barack Obama, told listeners to his radio show that a representative of the band had asked him to retract his praise for their political views.
The presenter had earlier lauded a song on the band’s new album The Resistance for warning against the dangers of “one world government”.
Describing their music as “absolutely fantastic”, Beck implied that the band members shared his concern about the centralisation of power by liberal politicians.
He repeatedly compared the lyrics of United States of Eurasia to George Orwell’s anti-totalitarian novel 1984, in which the world is divided into three superstates including Eurasia.
“These guys are brilliant, they know the time that we live in. They are libertarians from England,” he said on his nationally syndicated talk radio show, The Glenn Beck Program.
“All of the lyrics are… dead on, on what’s coming our way.”
Later in the show Beck said that he was withdrawing his recommendation after telling listeners that he had been contacted by a representative of the band.
“They would like me to retract my endorsement,” Beck told listeners. “My apologies to Muse for saying that I like them. I didn’t mean to destroy all their credibility and all their coolness.
“It’s an awful album and you should never go out and buy it.”
But on Monday Christopher Balfe, the president of Beck’s company Mercury Radio Arts, said that the presenter had been fooling around.
“After raving about Muse for 4 minutes, Glenn made a joke about their representatives emailing him to stop,” he said.
“While it is entirely possible that Muse does not like having Glenn as a fan, he was making a joke and their representatives never reached out to him.”
While many of Muse’s songs reflect unease about the growing power of the state, their political views do not sit comfortably with Beck’s patriotic conservatism. In 2006 the band’s frontman Matt Bellamy said that he believed the Sept 11 attacks were an “inside job”.
A recording of the radio programme, which was broadcast on Sep 16, has been posted online by Media Matters for America, which campaigns against perceived conservative bias.

Nothing on the band’s website either, so far as I can see. The story popped up first in the NME (UK music mag), and that was only an allegation that didn’t contain a quote that I could find from the band or their reps either. I am a fan of Muse and most certainly not a fan of conservative hate peddlers, but this is shoddy work by prisonplanet. 0/10 must try harder.

Beck says he cares about the constitution, he spent years cheering its destruction, he says he hates both parties and continues to prop up the Republican party and has on almost exclusively partisan, neocon/zionist warmongers as guests.
