A young, black man in New Orleans is dead, slain by police officers on New Year’s Day, in an incident that has outraged a community and triggered protests over what family members are calling a “murder.”
The New Orleans man, 22-year-old Adolph Grimes III, traveled to his grandmother’s home near the French Quarter in order to celebrate New Year’s Eve with his fiance and their 17-month-old son. Three hours after arrival, around 3 a.m., he was found dead a block from the front door.
The Orleans Parish coroner said Grimes was shot 14 times, including 12 times in the back.
“This violence has to stop. My child’s death will not be meaningless. He did not die in vain,” said Grimes’ mother, Patricia Grimes.

An editorial in The Times-Picayune said the shooting “demands answers.”
Despite the fact that the seven officers involved in the incident have been reassigned, Superintendent Warren Riley has refused to answer “fundamental questions” about the shooting and maintains that Grimes fired upon his men first.
Several dozen people protested the New Orleans Police Department on Thursday morning to demand justice for Grimes’ death.
A mix of people walked paced in front of a police station carrying signs with slogans like “Down with the government” and shouting to passers-by “You could be next!”
A group of black ministers and advocates has called for the department to be purged of “trigger-happy” officers and the Grimes family’s attorney, Richard Jenkins is certain an investigation will show rogue cops and sloppy police work.
“I just think it was some bad officers who were out there and imposing their will on the community,” Jenkins said.
The shooting of Grimes by the NOPD marks the third high media incident of an officer or officers shooting a seemingly innocent black male thus far in 2009.
In Oakland, Calif, a BART officer shot a 22-year-old black male in the back on New Year’s Eve. The slaying was caught on multiple videos, all of which showed the man unarmed, subdued and helpless. The city is still struggling to contain the public’s reaction to what appears to be an execution.
Also, in Houston, a 23-year-old black male was shot in his own home’s driveway by a white police officer during the early hours of New Year’s Eve. According to published reports, the officer thought the man’s vehicle was stolen. An internal investigation is underway. While the department has denied allegations of racial profiling related to the shooting, no effort to explain why the officer suspected the vehicle to be stolen has been offered.

But what this article doesn’t tell you is that Mr. Grimes fired first! He fired into an unmarked police vehicle. I say that NOPD did an excellent job! This website is nothing more than a militant propaganda device for the disenfranchised individual(s). I’ve noticed that most every “Anti-US Government” article just so happens to be written Prison Planet staff! Everything else is subjectively edited; key information is intentionally omitted! Such is the case with the Adolph Grimes III case. This website is nothing more than a 21st century “neo-hippie” communist propaganda tool…period!

I think Lucinda Day fails to recognise that the only reason why its rarer in the UK for the police to shoot at people is that they are not all armed, but that doesn’t mean they are more ‘civilised’. Have you forgotten the innocent tube passenger, DeMenzes and the whitewash investigation into it? There are more incidents being reported of people being shot, particularly those suspected of mental health issues. I also remember the old case of an irish man who the police suspected of carrying a gun, only to find out after they’d fatally shot him, that he was carrying a table leg. ( it was never proved tht he was using it to threaten the police) Then there are all the incidents of black men being killed whilst in custody or during arrests, by none other than the police. No one is ever made accountable for the deaths of innocent people, maybe a few suspensions here and there (usually paid leave) Civilised? I don’t think so…

Wow. I would say that Internal Affairs seems to be compromised just as bad as out federal government. In my opinion these assassinations will keep escilating but once the internet is taken you wont even know its happening or that they are moving certain groups into camps. Everyone needs to take a trip to Washington DC and visit The International Haulocost Museum. Its amazing how this governments actions against its own people, since but not limited to, Wako Texas Massacre of the Branch Dividion Community has been able to turn on its own people and committ murder at-will. My sincere condolences to all the families affected by these members of the modern day SS and may they be vindicated when justice is served by God.

thegaindeli, if you delve a little more into this case, you will find that the police report on Thursday the 1st said he pulled a gun and pointed it at the plain clothes officers. On Friday the 2nd, the report was changed and it said he fired on the officers.
Someone is lying! I bet it’s the cops, too!

I really wanted to believe that the BART shooting happened because the cop thought he was using his taser gun. I mean, why would a cop shoot a cooperative person in the back and in front of everyone like that? It still, in a way, does not make sense. But, now after these other stories it’s apparent there’s a pattern here. To all sleazeball cops everywhere…FUCK YOU !!!!

Watch the lastest video of the shooting with the BART officer. He extended his arm with gun, stood there, then fired. They train, don’t they? Endlessy on take downs, arrests, and shooting guns. Also in tasing… The taser is Flourescent Yellow and has a different grip than their other carry weapon. Usually the taser is at the back of their belt not at their side where their pistol is kept. He dresses himself everyday for work, he knows what he did. It never made sense. There is a gradual increase in domination and militarization of the Western police forces.

Or how about this one from Lakeland, Florida in 2006. The link to the video no longer works, but I believe they shot the guy about 32 times. When asked why they shot him so many times, the sheriff responded with “We ran out of bullets.” They didn’t go out to arrest the guy, they announced it was a hunt to kill him. I remember it well. Ah Yess! they hit him 14 times… out of 48 shots taken. seems to me there should be at least 49, if Mr Grimes shot first, then there whould be a shell casing from his gun as well.

Hoping to “get lucky?” If I was Mr Grimes, sitting in my car, and nine dudes suddenly surround me, wouldn’t you show a gun to make them stop and think before they attacked? Did they identify themselves as “cops” before the shooting started? or did the scare the shit out of Mr Grimes and provoked him to “act like he was under attack by some street gang” and was trying to defend himself? They tricked him into an action they could justify to shoot “until they ran out of bullets” mentality.

Oh yeah, one other thing to glean from all these cop shootings. Unless the gun barrel is jammed in your back, they will probably miss. 49 shots and 14 hits. Cops are apparently no better at shooting than they are at thinking. This is a typical round count for most cop shootouts as well. I’m too cheap to waste ammo. Since it reads as if they were prowling for a shooting, they would have had the tactical advantage. You will shoot better if you are an attacker in these scenarios for you have all the advantage. Such as knowing shit is going to happen.

Inferno, cops have never been taught to “shoot to injure”. Its hard enough for most people to hit a perfectly still target under stress with great accuracy. Aim is for the center of mass. Most of the time if a cop just injures someone it was probably an inaccurate shot. “shoot to injure” is from tv and movies. Most of my life I have been a competitive shooter so I do know what I am talking a about Also, the paperwork. as is the investigations and reviews are there for any weapon discharge. As for other comments such as the cops are doing this purposely to start civil unrest, they could care less about that and it has nothing to do with conspiracies as such. There are no secret instructions. Most cops are just working stiffs like the rest of us. I would not read to much into that line of thinking. Most of the cops, as most of the people are totally unaware what is happening in our country and the world. As to why they are shooting people in the back, I surely cannot answer that but it looks very bad.

To get shot for sitting in your car? was it because he had out of state tags they thought he was a drug mule? and that the best thing to do is attack first and say something stupid like…”my bad” and walk away?
