National Guard On Alert For Tea Party Protests
Force Protection Advisory mirrors United States Army Reserve Command alert issued before End the Fed protests last year

The Maryland National Guard has been put on alert in anticipation of today’s nationwide Tea Party protests, while a Homeland Security spokesman refused to deny that protesters would be under surveillance from the DHS.
The Maryland National Guard issued a Force Protection Advisory on April 11 which has since been leaked to the Internet, namely to the Jawa Report website.
The document warns the National Guard to be on alert during the Tea Party protests because Guardsmen and Guard facilities might become “targets of opportunity.” The contact point for the document is listed as the Antiterrorism Program Coordinator.
“This Maryland Army National Guard (MDARNG) Force Protection advisory is in response to a nationwide planned protest activities scheduled for April 15, 2009. Although there is no known direct threat to MDNG facilities and MDNG members, they may become a target of opportunity during plan protest activities throughout Maryland,” states the advisory.
It continues, “Numerous entities have formed recently to express displeasure/anger over recent federal/state government actions: more taxes, increased spending, higher deficits, a surge of borrowing to pay for it all, bailout of the financial institutions, and etc. This movement can be identified by different variations of “TEA Party” or “Tea Party.” Past “TEA Party” events have been peaceful. There was a “Tea party” event at Solomons, Maryland, on March 22, 2009. “TEA” stands for “Taxed Enough Already.”
The document then gives a full list of the times and locations of the Tea Party protests in Maryland and advises National Guard personnel to, “Contact local law enforcement when feel threaten by protesters or protesters trespass into MDNG.”
“Commanders at all levels should establish relationship with local police in order to understand the local threats. Keep family members informed. Talk to other service personnel to share information. Practice OPSEC. Don’t provide personal information to anyone you don’t know. Avoid high risk areas,” the advisory states.

As the Jawa Report points out, the majority of the people attending the Tea Party protests will be mainstream conservatives who are likely to be pro-military and pro-national guard. It’s almost inconceivable that they would be any kind of threat to the Maryland National Guard.
The advisory is more likely to be directed against libertarians and Ron Paul-style Republicans who will also be attending the Tea Party protests in large numbers.
Indeed, the United States Army Reserve Command issued a similar Force Protection Advisory last November before the nationwide End the Fed protests, warning that protesters were congregating across the country to demonstrate against the private Federal Reserve. The FPA issued by the Army Reserve is very similar in language to that issued by the Maryland National Guard.
Why the military and National Guard is concerning itself with peaceful, patriotic Americans who are merely exercising their right to protest is fundamentally disturbing. One would expect the police to be aware and prepared for demonstrations but only from the perspective of maintaining order and keeping the peace. The Army and the National Guard has no business putting itself on alert for peaceful demonstrations by patriotic Americans.
Meanwhile, during an interview on the Roger Hedgecock Show, Sean Smith, Assistant Secretary of DHS for Public Affairs, refused to deny that Homeland Security officials would be spying on Tea Party protesters when pressed by Hedgecock.
The Roger Hedgecock website published the following photo on its website today underneath the words,
“Can you identify this man, spying on Tea Party participants?”
“Is the department sending people to video or record in any way the Tea Parties?” asked Hedgecock during the interview.
“Um, I can’t speak to sort of things that are law enforcement sensitive. Um, so I can’t speak to any current law enforcement operations,” responded Smith.
Smith also refused to clarify whether or not the DHS considered organizers of the Tea Party protests to be right-wing extremists.
Smith appeared on the show to respond to burgeoning outrage about a recently leaked Homeland Security report that equates gun owners and protesters with domestic terrorists like Timothy McVeigh.
Smith implied that the the controversy surrounding the report following the widespread outrage would roll on but appeared to rule out any kind of retraction, saying that the report stands.

1. (U) This Maryland Army National Guard (MDARNG) Force Protection advisory is in response to a nationwide planned protest activities scheduled for April 15, 2009. Although there is no known direct threat to MDNG facilities and MDNG members, they may become a target of opportunity during plan protest activities throughout Maryland.
2. (U) FORCE PROTECTION CONDITIONS.
a. (U) USNORTHCOM FPCON baseline for the continental United States, Alaska, and Canada remains unchanged at ALPHA.
b. (U) MDARNG is not recommending a FPCON baseline change at this time.
3. 5. (U) FORCE PROTECTION RECOMMENDATIONS:
a. (U) Full-time personnel (i.e. armories) and recruiters need to be aware their surroundings. Contact local law enforcement when feel threaten by protesters or protesters trespass into MDNG property.
b. (U//FOUO) Commanders at all levels should establish relationship with local police in order to understand the local threats. Keep family members informed. Talk to other service personnel to share information. Practice OPSEC. Don’t provide personal information to anyone you don’t know. Avoid high risk areas.
c. (U//FOUO) Commanders are encouraged to update alert rosters and review emergency evacuation plans/rally points. Ensure all facilities have emergency phone lists posted (i.e. FBI, FIRE, POLICE, HOSPITALS, EMS, ETC…). Be aware of and avoid local protests. Report all potential protest activities to your next higher headquarters.
d. (U//FOUO) Continue implementation of RAM and a review of policies and procedures, especially in regards to cooperation or assistance with local emergency responders.

I’m not sure that anything is really beginning, brad.
If you mean the protests, the protests won’t achieve anything productive. When you see the grinning idiots in the TV news media promoting something, you can rest assured that it will do nothing to defeat, unsettle, slow or hinder the central bankers that run the show. The don’t care about protests. The politicians don’t even care that much, except the opportunists that try to attach themselves to it to gain popularity.
If you mean the surveillance of protesters by the military and police, that is nothing new. The government figures they own us. They’re just monitoring the bad apples.
Political activism is futile. It’s like a slave trying to convince his master that he should be set free. It won’t happen until the slave just decides to walk off the plantation and make out on his own.

I am following the TEA demonstrations with FOX. It is amazing how the great american people believe in the american constitution. It’s not about republicans and democrats, black or white, its about the american principles…From old and young expressing their voices in a friendly manner..and yet the fed’s are freaking out, national guard? I say I must concur with that! It is time to fight the battle with smarts and “hit’em where it hurts!” Their system NEEDS our compliance! We should just starve their “system” to its death by simply NOT participating in it anymore! Then, when it is weak and “dying”, we finish it off by instituting our own way of life again at the individual level.

I agree that the Tea Parties got co-opted by disingenuous Republican and NWO operatives. However, I do not think everyone should make blanket indictments of being disingenuous to all those that did not protest Bush, but are now on the protest bandwagon. Everyone has a threshold that must be pasted before they can see the true corruption in government. I believe many people that supported Bush at one point or another are finally waking up because it is so transparent to them now. You can say that it has always been very transparent, but it hasn’t been for everyone. Just because they couldn’t see it before due to the media they watched, listened, read, etc. does not mean they are not genuine now. Of course not all are genuine, but I really think a lot of people are realizing that they were duped. It is disingenuous of anyone touting that everyone needs to wake up, then when they do, to scold and discredit them by saying “Where were you when Bush was in office?” Who cares, if we limit ourselves to only those that could “see it” while or before Bush, then our numbers will be insignificant. Why is it so hard to understand that people that have been fooled before may actually be catching on and realizing how they have previously been misguided? Get over your egos of being the “enlightened ones” and welcome new comers to the truth, or else this movement you claim to care about so much will be destined to fail.

Just to clarify, I am not talking about Beck, he is obviously a disinfo agent based on the actions he has taken in the past and is currently performing. I’m not very enamored by the protests. I believe what they are standing up for and support the idea 100%, but I would rather do things under the radar. As Ron Paul said, no army can stop an idea whose time has come. I want to spread the idea, not the get up and complain about it movements…although, they are a must have to help spread the idea…I just prefer to do it in a more discreet way.
Any ideas on how to do this? I have thought about road signs or door hangers or maybe fold up a piece of paper (flyer) and roll down the street and throw it on peoples’ property as advertisement…not sure.

This kind of thing is happening in Canada. I live near Barrie Ontario Canada, and the Military was requested to assist the Barrie police to help out on Saturday nights with their M16 to maintain law and order. I have lived here all my life and Barrie is a small city north or Toronto. Typically a quiet town. I was shocked to find out they did this, I thought, this kind of thing only happened south of the boarder…. my eyes are wide open.

I was at a TEA Party protest and saw no police or anything like that. One police car drove by smiled and waved.
It was pretty funny; a city councilman came down and looked nervous. People in the protest were coming up to him saying hi and shaking his hand. Pretty funny.

This is all a farse. Just ask the Bush administration. Did we all forget already just like most Americans do? Remember?….”We are fighting them over there so we will not have to fight them over here.” Therefore there is no terrorism of the nature described in this article.
