NATO continues to build up naval presence in Black Sea

NATO is continuing to strengthen its naval task force in the Black Sea, a Turkish military source said on Wednesday.
“A U.S. Pathfinder ship has entered the Black Sea,” the source said on condition of anonymity.
USNS Pathfinder (T-AGS 60) is an oceanographic survey ship owned by Military Sealift Command and has a civilian crew and scientists on board.
However, a Russian military source told RIA Novosti that ships of the Pathfinder class could be used for reconnaissance and intelligence gathering purposes.

“We have reliable information confirming that the [Pathfinder] ship has arrived in the Black Sea primarily to conduct intelligence gathering operations in support of the NATO naval task group currently deployed in the area,” the source said.
NATO sent at least five warships, including guided missile frigates, into the Black Sea after Russia completed its operation “to force Georgia to peace” on August 12.
The operation came as a response to Georgia’s attack on South Ossetia on August 8.
Another U.S. warship is expected to arrive in the Black Sea in the next few days, a Russian intelligence source said on Wednesday.

“Our response will be calm, not hysterical, but there will definitely be a response,” Putin said. (Russian warships arrive in Abkhazia – Video)
Meanwhile, Admiral Eduard Baltin, a former fleet commander of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, suggested last week that the NATO naval strike group currently deployed in the area could be destroyed by a single missile salvo within 20 minutes.
“Within 20 minutes the waters would be clear,” he said, stressing that despite major reductions, the Black Sea Fleet still has a formidable missile arsenal.
However, Baltin said the chances of a military confrontation between NATO and Russia in the Black Sea were negligible.
“We will not strike first, and they do not look like people with suicidal tendencies,” he said.

With the U.S. split by a two-party system that’s coming to a very devisive head, an alarmingly high number of American citizens who prefer reciting Fox News correspondance instead of facing blatant reality, and an ever-increasing addiction to amphetamines, McDonald’s, and Paris Hilton, I wonder if YOU think America is demonstrating suicidal tendencies?
It wasn’t all that long ago that the United States was considered the world’s only remaining superpower. We are now facing the results of our government’s dereliction in upholding its responsibility to the world.
We’ve made war on a great many unnecessary fronts, and now that our military is spread thin, worn to exhaustion, and hated virtually the world over, an opportunity has come along to stick our neck out and get decapitated.
One could say Russia’s current military was forged in the fires of Chechniya, where despite their similar acts of cruelty to what the Iraqis are experiencing, the Russians came out with a whole new set of field guide books and successful war veteran officers. America has since gone into further outrageous economic crisis, and the majority of our Iraqi experience has been examples of What-Not-To-Do.
I’m sure a lot of you have my problem of having family members, co-workers, et cetera, who respond to any conversational reference to the 9/11 Truth Movement, Jesse Ventura’s politics, Police Corruption, Georgian aggression against S. Ossetia, and so much more, with vehemence, pre-programmed talking points (”I’m voting for McCain because I don’t want to wear a burkha!”), or just a stupid blank stare… I think you should ask them this, if there was any way possible, to put ALL partisan politics aside and really think about the answer to this question:
Could the United States really beat Russia right now if there was a war?
I, for one am not nearly confident enough to say yes.

To God and Gods Angels: I am sure that some of the American Navy personnel on ships in the Black Sea are somewhat reserved about this mission; since there has to be more to it than “Aid.” Its their lives on the line and for what Bush/Cheney’s oil pipeline that Americans will never see a dollar of royalty off of when it will be the American taxpayers dollars who would build it (just like the one through other countries). With Generals (who are wiser and better than you) being removed from command for not agreeing with the Bush/Cheney protocol your statements are ridiculous. You two obviously don’t have kids to raise in this future of wars that has been and continues to be started by our current government. We could have just stop muslim terrorist cold by not allowing muslims in our country and locked the borders down; no the elite and there war corporations want every last dollar and oz of gold and silver to be had and you two will suffer along with the rest of us and our families regardless of what your current employment is. These types of wars will NEVER have a true victor. If you long for battle try MMA or something you will learn there that even the best will fall eventually.

It a chess game. USA and NATO are maneuvering to checkmate Russia in Ossetia, and at the same time Israel will attack Iran. This is the big plan. How this will end up is anybody’s guess.

i am going to attack iran on september 29 th! then I am going to nuke russia to pieces, make a short holiday on the bahamas, destroy romania, invade ucrania where my nuclear headquarters will be set up, then I am going to march into germany, all this will happen and the usa wont do a thing because they will be engaged in a small war with venezuela. this is my moment this is ma day! a blitzkrieg against africa will assure me the entire continent and from there my invasion of asia and china will just be a matter of a few days.
