US security authorities have conducted a semi-clandestine nuclear fallout drill in the City of New York in order to be prepared “for the worst.”
The NYC Police Department (NYPD) in unison with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) carried out a massive almost-covert anti-nuclear exercise codenamed ‘New York, you have a problem’ in order to gauge the metropolitan promptness in responding to such attacks.
According to an AP report on Friday, hundreds of NYPD officers and FBI agents participated in the drill that involved the detection of a gamma-ray emitting device concealed in the heart of the urban area.
The group was also accompanied by an elite corps of federal weapons specialists who, under a US attorney general mandate, found a simulated “nuclear device” and diffused it.
Commenting on the nature of new threats on the City area including ‘dirty bombs’ and other unconventional explosive devices, head of FBI’s New York office, Joseph Demarest, said, “It’s something we’re very concerned about.”
Reflecting Demarest’s comments, FBI’s counterterrorism supervisor, Don Always, told reporters, “Hopefully, we’ll never have to do this for real.”
“But if we do, we have to do it right the first time,” he went on to say.
Security forces have reportedly tested new hi-tech detection gadgets and other gizmos in the operation.
New York City authorities have frequently expressed concerns over a sudden occurrence of such attacks capable to claim numerous lives.
A dirty bomb is an explosive device equipped with nuclear, chemical or biological containers, which could be blown up without having to use sophisticated nuclear detonators.
The news of the NYC nuclear fallout drill comes in the wake of an assessment last week in which the Missouri Congressman Todd Akin warned of a looming nuclear threat on the US’s West coast cities as adversarial regimes such as North Korea expand their nuclear and rocket launching capabilities.
The 62-year-old Republican Congressman advised the US administration to seriously consider current nuclear issues threatening US security, which demanded a fortified scheme to tackle the potential issues.

Furthermore, it’s not like the movies where you have some tool choosing between cutting the red or blue wire. That is just hollywood. Moscow’s air defense was also penetrated by a cessna and the man landed in Red Square. Regardless you are talking about an aircraft going through the most highly regulated airspaces in the world. Granted these were cessnas, but they also have slower airspeeds and cessna pilots have to follow codes of civil aviation and the regulations.

The point is, flight 77 was known and ID’d 4 minutes before it hit the Pentagon.
The theories about Norman Minettas testimony implying they had given a “dont shoot” order is childish at the best. It implies the government knew what the target of flight 77 was. THEY DID NOT. So, unless they knew where it was going, had shooters in place, then nothing about flight 77 entering restricted airspace is really outlandish.
With Reagan Int. so close, airplanes often entered that restricted arispace.
The Cesna was reported stolen
They tracked it the entire way
The pilot was extremely drunk
Nobody shot it down and it wasn’t an inside job.

Also, there is no branch of service called the national Guard, they are the US Army.
They go to US army boot camp, they are infantrymen, cooks, etc.
The national guard is controlled by the governors. less then 50% can be taken and deployed out of the US for combat, without the gov’s approval and the rest with approval. The National guard and the rest of the military has been training in the US for many many years. Not necessarily practicing to work in this exact environment, but because it is logistically easier to approve then a city outside the US. This is why every MEU I did we did our MEUEX in Guam and not in Okinawa where the MEU is based…

The army trains in the us, because they have bases in the us. for pork projects mostly. the nasty guard however, is not the army. it is even more fucked up than the marines, but htat is a different story. There entire fucked up system, is set up for riots, national disasters, etc. The army is set up to create such scenarios. For example, I never trained once to evacuate a town, however I did help kill one. But, due to that old Posse Comiteus shit that you jarheads don’t pay attention to anymore, they aren’t allowed to operate in the US. Not even when clinton was burning kids in Waco or just shooting them in Ruby Ridge. Well, at least they saved the kids in waco from sexual abuse.

Plenty of exercises where the government rehearses reacting to a nuke strike and nothing for the citizens? The fallout shelters I remember from the ’70s were kinda crappy in many respects but they were something. The lack of emphasis on civil defense tells me our leaders do not take the threat of nuclear terrorism or rogue states seriously at all.
Fallout shelters might be pointless in an all out attack given that there wouldn’t be anything left above ground, but in a limited strike, as long as you weren’t very near ground zero, the fallout would be the primary danger. (that, and lack of food and water due to infrastructure disruption)
There are many things people could do for themselves were they given information and encouragement. Many public buildings have areas that lend themselves well to use as fallout shelters and were in fact designated as such in the past. Perhaps the idea could be revived. There would be plenty of gravy to spread around to the president’s friends for doing site surveys and stocking the shelters with food and water and making sure people knew where to go if the shit hit the fan. It might even save lives someday, and more importantly, it would serve as a small indication that the feds might actually give a shit what happens to the little people. That would do wonders for my morale at least, because I see little sign of that now.

When I was in the second grade the nun asked me what what is proper procedure for a nuclear blast while in school, I said sister you crouch under your seat put your head between your legs then kiss your ass good bye. The original post was a good read. Just remember during the 50’s, on up through the cold war, there were those duck and cover videos. People were afraid of a grand war between super powers.
However, reconmarines point in last post, although don’t agree that he patronised this poster, should have read something like the chances of a real nuclear blast, like that, is very slim because the nation who launches a nuke would be, in turn, nuked by the USA. No one has a death wish. The briefcase bombs are possible, but the chance of them occurring is very rare because they are easily detected by radiation detectors. Just read about the cases in Ukraine, Georgia, and other Central Asian nations that actually CAUGHT smugglers of radioactive materials. They are no where near as developed as the United States. So a dirty bomb or briefcase nuke would be the only probable because it would be the means of individuals not nations. That’s why they drill to cover this probability. It does add a fear factor, but if one is fearful, get rid of your HAZMAT crews because they have to and will train.
War on Terror has gone too far, in my opinion, and the US government won’t use checks and balance system measuring civil liberties for a long while. They are quite aware that their campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan really upset people there and US is actually more in danger, now, than before.

Never paid a dime into the System, mind you. The Russians get Food Stamps and Medicaid. Before they come over they have lawyers set them up on welfare programs. They also open up phone card//lingerie//video bodega stores in Brooklyn and Queens with bogus SS numbers. When the tax man comes knocking two years later, they leave the stores to rot and run back to Russia and get a new fake ID. Again, family in Social Services sees this on a daily basis.
Social Welfare benefits are this dirt’s reward for gracing our shores.

Don’t be fooled, they are just softening up the people using Neuro Linguistic Programming so that when it does happen the majority of the population will act like good little sheep.
For Reconmarine, if you honestly believe that 9/11 was not an inside job then go and watch a film called ‘Loose Change’, you can access it in the membership area at prisonplanet.tv or buy it on ebay for pennies.
When you have watched it then let me know if you still believe 9/11 was a genuine terroist attack.

Yes, I do believe now that 9/11 should be fully investigated, leaving no bit of rubble unturned or a single witness testimony left unheard. The truth must be known!

They were also doing “practice drills” in Queens at 2am two weekends ago. These included road blocks on highways set up. I bet they didn’t bother taking the barricades away, either. They are probably still all along the highway, just like on the Verazzano.
With the Verazzano, the barricades have been up for 4 years now. They extend about 1/4 mile into Staten Island! They also have a nasty little habit of sending out arrow trucks to slow down traffic every single day and even on weekends at rush hour now.
I travel the roads alot and you can’t tell me those are NOT going to be used to get the driving public “in line” so to speak.
When chaos erupts due to Swine/Bird/Human flu in Oct, what better way to force the driving public into check-points????

Most people are such morons they won’t ever leave. Having lived most of my life in a non-institutional suburban environment BEFORE getting stuck in the urban dregs, I see what is coming. The people are barely civil now and as soon as shortages strike, they will smash the windows of local stores within hours and steal bread, water, whathaveyou. They will also immediately break the ATMs.
Hell, as it is now, the brooklyn, queens and urban stores have no stock and the pitiful selection is so bad I do all my shopping in my suburban hometown.
I have a place to go as I own a home in the country, but so many just give you a glazed eyed sheeple look when you ask if they have plans if the flu should heighten into a pandemic of if martial law is threatened. Hell, these drooling zeros can’t understand why anyone would even keep water in storage or want to leave the city. They think the gvt will take care of them.
Drooling morons will NEVER leave the F*CKING city, they’re glazed-eyed pride won’t let ‘em and that’s EXACTLY what PNAC is betting on!

1) wouldn’t it be cheaper to stop making so many enemies abroad?
2) nato’s preparations for WWIII are out there for anyone to see. Start with the first-strike ABM site they want to put in poland, and the article in foreign affairs a few years ago which pointed out how the US could survive russian nuclear retaliation using just such a strategy. Do they really think russians can’t read english? My guess is russians are better informed about US nuclear strategy than the typical american.
